It's not easy being a gnome

Each level in Craft the World begins with the fact that a single dwarf appears in a new, completely unexplored world. With a stone knife, worn shoes and an old shirt. Honestly, I didn't expect anything special. But when I started playing, I just fell out of reality for a day. The game Craft The World exceeded all my expectations a hundred times and the longer I played it, the more it addicted.

The last time I was so enthusiastic about building something, crafting and surviving - minecraft. Together with a partner, I piled up a rather large settlement, and then got to and slew the dragon in another world. It was an unforgettable couple of days...

After I recoiled from the monitor, the thought immediately flashed: “This is a fucking drug!” The next day, I decided to go about my business, scatter with my master's thesis and inspect the brought non-working system unit. But no matter how hard I tried to concentrate, all my thoughts were only about these stupid gnomes. I realized until I pass this game, I won’t be able to do something normally. I had to postpone things, and when the first game world was mastered, interest in the game subsided.

Gameplay
The basis of the gameplay is the coordination of the work of the gnomes in the extraction of resources, food, war, the creation of ammunition and the construction of dwellings (tunnels, houses, bridges, traps, etc.) The player pokes at the object and now, after a moment, the brave gnomes rush to fulfill his instructions. A hardworking folk, if possible, immediately pulls all the resources to the warehouse.

Sandbox
The world in the game is presented as a randomly generated limited area in 2D. It has two main play areas. This is the surface and the dungeons. The surface contains most of the resources needed for survival such as wood, water, food, etc. All sorts of edible animals walk along it, some enemies (Undead in the cemetery, goblins). Sunlight contributes to the growth of vegetation, heavy rains fill the reservoirs.

Under the ground there is a large amount of minerals needed to create hundreds of materials useful in construction, war, and in general, in survival. In addition to resources in the form of: sand, stone, iron, coal, silver, gold, mithril, precious stones, exotic plants and inhabitants, etc., you can find ancient treasures, secret rooms, abandoned catacombs and lost portals.

Game worlds are distinguished by the abundance of certain resources, climate features and the presence of special enemies. You can meet new creatures, new resources, and therefore new crafting recipes will be opened. In the ice world, you can even create your own ice castle!

The dimensions of the map, as well as its features, depend on the world in which you start the game. It can be a rainy or dry world. It can be a plain or a mountainous area. In the company, the parameters are static, but you can create your own single world in which you are free to set any game conditions.

Creation of food, building materials, ammunition, etc. is one of the main entertainment in the game Craft The World. You can create a whole bunch of any useful junk in it. Starting from vital things, such as weapons, building materials, tools for work, food, armor and ending with special magic, potions and interior decorations.

The game provides a huge selection in the creation of items. The lion's share of which is occupied by the so-called things for decoration (comfort). In campaign mode, players will be able to develop a technology branch that allows them to gradually move up the science tree. The crafting system is not steamed, the interface is very convenient. Recipes are displayed in the menu, you do not need to guess or select anything.

In free play, you can choose a mode where all recipes and technologies are available at once. At least on the fifth day, craft armor from mithril, if only there are enough resources. (Now, after the update, the tree looks a little different).

In the arsenal, the player will have full-fledged spells that can create teleports, cause fiery rain on the heads of enemies, grow trees and even summon helper demons! Magic allows the player to greatly facilitate the life of the dwarves, and sometimes it is impossible to do without it at all.

For example, the spell "general gathering" causes your dwarves to gather at a certain point. It doesn't matter for what, protection or organization of a military campaign - without this magic, it is very problematic to control the gnomes that have spread all over the map.

Of course, we will not be able to develop peacefully. The game will be full of dangers and enemies eager to kill the bearded miners. In addition to natural hazards such as deep reservoirs, sheer cliffs, landslides in mines, lava, etc. There is still a whole bunch of enemies pursuing their own goals.

Someone wants to just kill your miners, and someone wants to profit from the treasures from the warehouse. In any case, you will have to defend yourself, with a short interval all kinds of enemies will attack your settlement. The next attack time is displayed on the screen. Organization of defense and combat operations to destroy enemy camps is no less fun than crafting and crawling through the mines. There are many enemies, and if you do not rebuild the defense, then they are guaranteed to carry your "puffed up" workers overnight and ruin the house.

Even if you learn to repel attacks on the surface, and your fortress turns out to be truly impregnable, underground you will have to rely only on your sword. Going down into the mines and digging into the depths, you can disturb very dangerous creatures. Of course, you cannot awaken the Balrog, but there are still no less creepy and dangerous creatures that can cope even with a well-armed group.

Once I even had to fill up a whole tunnel from the fact that one of the gnomes dug into some kind of anthill, where they immediately devoured it, and then, having gone up the shaft, they continued the slaughter already in the living quarters. I did not expect such an attack from below, so there were many corpses. Ants, demons, guards are still flowers, but meeting with a creature from the very center of the earth (near lava) will make you fork out for the creation of healing potions and good weapons with armor.

Construction
There are enough opportunities for building and in the game. There are always more opportunities to roam fantasy, of course, there are always more opportunities in 3D, but for 2D toys, such as Craft The World sometimes provides a wide variety of possibilities. Blocks are stacked differently, and if desired, you can change their appearance and shape.

There are sooo many decorative objects in the game, if you want to decorate your kingdom, you will definitely not be deprived. Trying to put at least one object at a time, I built a huge building, with a roof catching clouds, and underground there were five more floors. Scrolling through the technology tree, you wonder how much there is. Having mastered the first world, I did not discover 2/3 more technologies.
