What prayers should be read in the morning and in the evening. Prayers for the dream to come

HOW TO READ THE MORNING AND EVENING PRAYERS CORRECTLY

Prayer there is a conversation or our conversation with God. It is as essential to us as air and food. We have everything from God and nothing of our own: life, abilities, health, food, and everything is given to us by God. Therefore, in joy, and in sorrow, and when we need something, we must turn to God with prayer.

The main thing in prayer is faith, attention, reverence, contrition of the heart and a promise to God not to sin. Reading technique should not obscure the meaning of what is being read. Prayers are usually read evenly and calmly, without any exaggerated intonation.

St. Theophan the Recluse in the article "How to Pray" wrote: The work of prayer is the first work in the life of a Christian. If in relation to the ordinary course of affairs the proverb is true: "Live for a century, learn for a century," then it applies all the more to prayer, the action of which should not have a break and the degrees of which have no limit.

The ancient holy fathers, greeting each other at a meeting, usually asked not about health or anything else, but about prayer: how, they say, prayer goes or how it works. The effect of prayer was for them a sign of spiritual life, and they called it the breath of the spirit.

There is breath in the body - and the body lives; breath stops, life stops. So it is in the spirit: there is a prayer - the spirit lives; if there is no prayer, there is no life in the spirit.

But not every performance of prayer, or prayerfulness, is prayer. To stand in front of an icon in a church or at home and bow down is not yet prayer, but only an attribute of prayer.

Prayer itself is the emergence in our heart of one after another reverent feelings for God: self-abasement, devotion, thanksgiving, praise, forgiveness, zealous falling, contrition, submission to the will of God and others.

Our whole concern should be that during our prayers these and similar feelings fill our soul so that when the tongue reads prayers or the ear listens and the body makes obeisances, the heart does not remain empty, but that there is some feeling towards God.

When these feelings are present, our prayerfulness is prayer, but when they are absent, then it is not yet prayer.

It seems that what would be simpler and more natural for us, like prayer, or the aspiration of the heart to God? And meanwhile it not at all and not always happens. It must be aroused and then strengthened, or, what is the same, cultivate a prayerful spirit in oneself.

The first way to do this is through reading or listening prayer. Do it properly, and you will certainly arouse and strengthen the ascent in your heart to God, you will enter into the spirit of prayer.

Our prayer books contain the prayers of the holy fathers Ephraim the Syrian, Macarius of Egypt, Basil the Great, John Chrysostom and other great prayer books. Being filled with a spirit of prayer, they set forth what was inspired by this spirit in a word and handed it over to us.

A great prayer power moves in their prayers, and whoever peers (peers. - Ed.) into them with all diligence and attention, he, by virtue of the law of interaction, will certainly taste the power of prayer, as his mood approaches the content of the prayer.

In order for our prayer to become a valid means for us to cultivate prayer in ourselves, we must perform it in such a way that both thought and heart perceive the content of the prayers that make it up. Here are the three easiest ways to do it:

- do not start praying without preliminary, although brief, preparation;

- do not do it somehow, but with attention and feeling;

— not immediately after the end of the prayers, go on to ordinary activities.

Prayer rule - daily morning and evening prayers that Christians do. Their texts can be found in the prayer book.

The rule can be general - obligatory for all or individual, selected for the believer by the confessor, taking into account his spiritual state, strength and employment.

Consists of morning and evening prayers, which are performed daily. This vital rhythm is necessary, because otherwise the soul easily falls out of the life of prayer, as if waking up only from time to time. In prayer, as in any big and difficult task, "inspiration", "mood" and improvisation alone are not enough.

Reading prayers connects a person with their creators: psalmists and ascetics. This helps to find a spiritual mood akin to their burning heart. In praying in other people's words, our example is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. His prayer exclamations during the suffering on the Cross are lines from psalms (Ps. 21:2; 30:6).

There are three basic prayer rules:
1) a complete prayer rule, designed for spiritually experienced laity, which is published in the "Orthodox Prayer Book";

2) a short prayer rule; in the morning: “King of Heaven”, Trisagion, “Our Father”, “Virgin Mother of God”, “Rising from sleep”, “God have mercy on me”, “I believe”, “God, cleanse”, “To You, Master”, “Holy Angela”, “Most Holy Lady”, invocation of the saints, prayer for the living and the dead; in the evening: “King of Heaven”, Trisagion, “Our Father”, “Have mercy on us, Lord”, “Eternal God”, “Good King”, “Angel of Christ”, from “Choose Governor” to “It is worthy to eat”;

3) a short prayer rule of St. Seraphim of Sarov: three times “Our Father”, three times “Virgin Mother of God” and once “I believe” - for those days and circumstances when a person is extremely tired or very limited in time.

It is undesirable to completely omit the prayer rule. Even if the prayer rule is read without due attention, the words of the prayers, penetrating into the soul, have their cleansing effect.

The main prayers should be known by heart (with regular reading, they are gradually remembered by a person even with a very poor memory), so that they penetrate deeper into the heart and so that they can be repeated in any circumstances.

It is advisable to study the text of the translation of prayers from the Church Slavonic language into Russian (see "Explanatory Prayer Book") in order to understand the meaning of each word and not pronounce a single word meaninglessly or without accurate understanding.

It is very important that the person approaching prayer banish resentment, irritation, and bitterness from the heart. Without efforts aimed at serving people, at fighting sin, at establishing control over the body and the spiritual sphere, prayer cannot become the inner core of life..

In the conditions of modern life, given the workload and accelerated pace, it is not easy for the laity to set aside a certain time for prayer. The enemy of morning prayer is haste, and evening prayer is fatigue.

morning prayers it is best to read before starting any business (and before breakfast). In extreme cases, they are pronounced on the way from home. Late in the evening it is often difficult to concentrate due to fatigue, so it can be recommended to read the evening prayer rule in free minutes before dinner or even earlier.

During prayer, it is recommended to retire, light a lamp or a candle and stand in front of the icon. Depending on the nature of intra-family relationships, one can recommend reading the prayer rule together, with the whole family, or for each family member separately.

Common prayer is recommended before eating food, on solemn days, before a festive meal, and on other similar occasions. Family prayer is a kind of church, public prayer (the family is a kind of “home church”) and therefore does not replace individual prayer, but only complements it.

Before the beginning of prayer, one should make the sign of the cross and make several bows, half-length or earthly, and try to tune in to an inner conversation with God. The difficulty of prayer is often a sign of its true effectiveness.

Prayer for other people (see commemoration book) is an integral part of prayer. Standing before God does not alienate a person from his neighbors, but binds him to them with even closer ties. We should not be limited only to prayer for those close and dear to us. Praying for those who have caused us grief brings peace to the soul, affects these people and makes our prayer sacrificial.

It is good to end the prayer with thanksgiving to God for the gift of fellowship and contrition for one's inattention. Getting down to business, you must first think about what you have to say, do, see during the day and ask God for blessings and strength to follow His will. In the midst of a busy day, you need to say a short prayer (see the Jesus Prayer), which will help you find the Lord in everyday affairs.

Morning and evening rules– this is just a necessary spiritual hygiene. We are commanded to pray without ceasing (see the Jesus Prayer). The holy fathers said: if you churn milk, you will get butter, and in prayer, it turns from quantity into quality. God bless you!

The rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Saratov, hegumen Pakhomiy (Bruskov) answers questions on the personal prayer rule of a Christian

Prayer is the free appeal of the human soul to God. How to correlate this freedom with the obligation to read the rule even when you clearly do not want to do this?

Freedom is not permissiveness. A person is so arranged that if he allows himself an indulgence, it can be very difficult to return to the previous state. There are many examples in hagiographic literature when ascetics abandoned their prayer rule in order to show love to the brothers who came. Thus, they placed the commandment of love above their prayer rule. But it should be remembered that these people reached extraordinary heights of spiritual life, they were unceasingly in prayer. When we feel that we do not want to pray, this is a banal temptation, not a manifestation of freedom.

The rule keeps a person in a spiritually developed state; it should not depend on a momentary mood. If a person leaves the prayer rule, he very quickly comes to relaxation.

In addition, it should be remembered that when a person communicates with God, an enemy of our salvation always strives to stand between them. And not allowing him to do this is not a restriction on the freedom of the individual.

At what point in time should you read the morning and evening rule?

This is clearly and clearly written in any Orthodox prayer book: "Awakening from sleep, before any other work, stand reverently before the All-Seeing God and, making the sign of the cross, say ...". In addition, the very meaning of prayers tells us that morning prayers are read at the very beginning of the day, when a person’s mind is not yet occupied with any thoughts. And evening prayers should be read for a dream to come, after any deeds. In these prayers, sleep is compared with death, the bed with a deathbed. And it is strange, after talking about death, to go to watch TV or communicate with relatives.

Any prayer rule is based on the experience of the Church, to which we must listen. These rules do not violate human freedom, but help to get the maximum spiritual benefit. Of course, there can be exceptions to any rule based on some unforeseen circumstances.

What else, besides morning and evening prayers, can be included in the prayer rule of a layman?

The rule of a layman may include quite a variety of prayers and rites. These can be various canons, akathists, reading of the Holy Scriptures or the Psalter, bows, the Jesus Prayer. In addition, the rule should include a brief or more detailed commemoration of the health and repose of loved ones. In monastic practice, there is a custom to include in the rule the reading of patristic literature. But before you add something to your prayer rule, you need to think carefully, consult with the priest, evaluate your strengths. After all, the rule is read regardless of mood, fatigue, other heart movements. And if a person has promised something to God, it must be fulfilled. The Holy Fathers say: let the rule be small, but constant. At the same time, you need to pray with all your heart.

Can a person himself, without blessing, begin to read the canons, akathists in addition to the prayer rule?

Of course it can. But if he did not just read a prayer according to the aspiration of his heart, but thereby increases his constant prayer rule, it is better to ask a blessing from the confessor. A priest with a glance from the outside will assess his condition correctly: whether such an increase will be beneficial to him. If a Christian regularly goes to confession, watches over his inner life, such a change in his rule will, in one way or another, be reflected in his spiritual life.

But this is possible when a person has a confessor. If there is no confessor, and he himself decided to add something to his rule, it is still better to consult at the next confession.

On days when the service lasts all night and Christians do not sleep, is it necessary to read evening and morning prayers?

We do not tie the morning and evening rule to a specific time. However, it would be wrong to read evening prayers in the morning, and morning prayers in the evening. We should not be hypocritical about the rule and read it at all costs, ignoring the meaning of the prayers. If you are not going to sleep, why ask God's blessing to sleep? You can replace the morning or evening rule with other prayers or reading the Gospel.

Is it possible for a woman to read a prayer rule with her head uncovered at home?

- I think that it is better for a woman to make a prayer rule in a headscarf. This brings up humility in her and shows her obedience to the Church. Indeed, from the Holy Scriptures we learn that the wife covers her head not for those around her, but for the Angels (1 Cor. 11:10). This is a matter of personal piety. Of course, God does not care whether you stand up for prayer with or without a headscarf, but this is important for you.

How are the canons and the following to Holy Communion read: on the same day the day before, or can their reading be divided over several days?

- It is impossible to approach the fulfillment of the prayer rule formally. A person must build his relationship with God himself, based on prayer preparation, health, free time, and the practice of communicating with a confessor.

Today, a tradition has developed in preparation for Communion to read three canons: to the Lord, the Mother of God and the Guardian Angel, an akathist to the Savior or the Mother of God, the following to Holy Communion. I think it's best to read the whole rule on the same day before Communion. But if it's hard, you can spread it over three days.

Often friends and acquaintances ask how to prepare for Communion, how to read the Psalter? What should they say to us laymen?

- You need to answer what you know for sure. You can not take responsibility for something strictly obligatory to prescribe to another or say something that you are not sure of. When answering, one must be guided by the common tradition of church life today. If there is no personal experience, one must resort to the experience of the Church, the holy fathers. And if you were asked a question, the answer to which you do not know, you should be advised to turn to a priest or patristic creations.

I read the translation of some prayers into Russian. It turns out that I used to put a completely different meaning into them. Is it necessary to strive for a common understanding, to read translations, or can one understand prayers as the heart tells?

Prayers should be understood as they are written. An analogy can be drawn with conventional literature. We read the work, we understand it in our own way. But it is always interesting to know what meaning the author himself put into this work. Also the text of the prayer. The author put a special meaning into each of them. After all, we do not read a conspiracy, but turn to God with a certain petition or doxology. One can recall the words of the Apostle Paul that it is better to say five words in an understandable dialect than a thousand in an incomprehensible one (1 Cor. 14:19). In addition, the authors of most Orthodox prayers are holy ascetics glorified by the Church.

How to relate to modern prayers? Is it possible to read everything that is written in the prayer books, or do you prefer the more ancient ones?

- Personally, I am more touched by the words of more ancient canons, stichera. They seem deeper and more penetrating to me. But many people also like modern akathists for their simplicity.

If the Church has accepted prayers, you need to treat them with reverence, reverence and try to find some benefit for yourself. But understand that some modern prayers are not of such high quality in their content as prayers composed by ancient ascetics.

When a person writes a prayer for public use, he must understand what responsibility he takes on. He must have experience in prayer, but also be well educated. All texts that are offered by modern prayer creators must be edited and undergo a strict selection.

What is more important - to finish reading the rule at home or to come to work on time?

- Go to work. If a person has gathered in a temple, then in the first place should be public prayer. Although the fathers compared public and domestic prayer with the two wings of a bird. Just as a bird cannot fly with one wing, so can a man. If he does not pray at home, but only goes to the temple, then, most likely, prayer will not go with him in the temple either. After all, he has no experience of personal communion with God. If a person prays only at home, but does not go to church, it means that he does not have an understanding of what the Church is. And without the Church there is no salvation.

How can a layman replace service at home if necessary?

Today, a large number of liturgical literature and various prayer books are published. If a layman cannot be present at the service, he can read the morning and evening services, as well as the mass, according to the canon.

Is it possible to read the rule while sitting?

The Apostle Paul writes: "Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial" (1 Cor. 6:12). Tired or sick - you can sit down in the Church, while reading the house rule. But you should understand what you are guided by: pain that prevents you from praying, or laziness. If the alternative to reading a prayer while sitting is its complete absence, of course, it is better to read sitting. If a person is seriously ill, you can even lie down. But if he is just tired or laziness fights him, you need to overcome yourself and get up. During worship, the Charter regulates when you can stand or sit. For example, we listen to the reading of the Gospel, akathists while standing, and while reading kathismas, sedals, and teachings, we sit down.

Waking up in the morning, the first thing to do is to make the sign of the cross, saying:

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Publican's Prayer

God, have mercy on me a sinner. (Bow)

Predestinatory prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen. Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit, read every day

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.

From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the troparion is read:

"Christ has risen from the dead, trampled down death by death, and gave life to those who are in sin." (Three times)

Trisagion

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (It is read three times, with the sign of the cross and a bow from the waist.) Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

From the Ascension to the Trinity, prayers are read with "Holy God ...", releasing all the previous ones.

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake. Lord have mercy. (Thrice). Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord's Prayer Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Troparion Ternary

Rising from sleep, we fall down to Thee, Blessed, and cry out to the angelic song of Thee, Stronger: Holy, Holy, Holy Thou, God, have mercy on us the Mother of God. Glory: Thou hast raised me up from bed and sleep, O Lord, enlighten my mind and heart, and open my mouth, in hedgehog to sing Thee, Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy, O God, have mercy on us with the Theotokos.

And now: Suddenly the Judge will come, and every day the deeds will be laid bare, but with fear we call at midnight: Holy, Holy, Holy Thou, God, have mercy on us the Mother of God. Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Prayer to the Holy Trinity

Having risen from sleep, I thank Thee, Holy Trinity, for many, for the sake of Thy goodness and long-suffering, have not been angry with me, lazy and sinful, below have destroyed me with my iniquities; but you usually loved humanity and in the hopelessness of the lying one raised me up, in a hedgehog to matine and glorify Your power.

And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my mouth to learn Thy words, and understand Thy commandments, and do Thy will, and sing Thee in confession of the heart, and sing of Thy all-holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever centuries. Amen. Come, let us worship our King God. (Bow)

Come, let us bow down and bow down to Christ, our King God. (Bow)

Come, let us worship and bow down to Christ Himself, the King and our God. (Bow)

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquity. Wash me most of all from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and my sin before me is taken out. I have sinned against you alone and done evil before you, as if you were justified in your words, and conquered when you judge Thee.

Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and in sins give birth to me, my mother. Behold, thou hast loved the truth; the unknown and secret wisdom of Thy revealed to me. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Give joy and joy to my hearing; the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities.

Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Reward me the joy of Your salvation and confirm me with the dominating Spirit. I will teach the wicked in Your way, and the wicked will turn to You.

Deliver me from blood, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue rejoices in thy righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. As if you would have desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. Sacrifice to God the spirit is broken; a contrite and humble heart God will not despise.

Please, O Lord, with Thy favor Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, an offering and a burnt offering; then they will offer bullocks on your altar.

Morning Prayers Creed

I believe in one God the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, Whom all was.

For us for the sake of man and for our sake of salvation, he descended from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin and became human. Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried. And resurrected on the third day according to the Scriptures.

And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And the packs of the future with glory to judge the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets.

Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen.

It is quite difficult for an ignorant person who is just opening the way to the Lord to immediately understand the numerous rules of the Orthodox religion. Two things serve as a very simple short road to the Lord - faith in the Almighty and prayers addressed to him and the saints.

But with what sacred texts to start the day? The answer lies on the surface - from the morning appeals. Accordingly, in the evening - the day ends.

The key morning texts are: the Trisagion, God have mercy on me, Our Father, the Symbol of Faith and, we strongly recommend Appeals to the Guardian Angel, Jesus Christ, the Mother of God. They ask for a blessing, patronage for the whole day. In addition, a large number of morning texts are presented in the prayer book.

Below is a detailed list with a brief description of the actions during a religious ceremony, as well as a note to some of the sacred formulas.

Brief

Waking up in the morning, before any other deed, reverently cross yourself, mentally imagining the Almighty right in front of you, say:

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

God, have mercy on me a sinner. (Gospel of Luke, ch. 28, verse 15)

Having spoken such a short but very weighty appeal to the publican, bow as if the Lord were before you.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Cross with a bow. This should be done when working with any sacred text.

Text next: To the Holy Spirit

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.

Note: From Easter to Ascension, instead of this prayer, a troparion is read: "Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and bestowing life on those in the tombs." (Thrice) From the Ascension to the Trinity, we begin prayers with "Holy God ...", omitting all the previous ones.

This remark also applies to prayers for the coming sleep.

There is a note here. Pay attention to them - this is important.

Trisagion:

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Read three times, with the sign of the cross and a bow from the waist.)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Bow to the waist - this is important.

Next text: To the Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake.
Lord have mercy. (Thrice).
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen
Note: When “Glory”, “And now” is written, it must be read in full: “Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “Now and ever and forever and ever. Amen"

Trinity Troparion:

Rising from sleep, we fall down to Thee, Blessed, and cry out to the angelic song of Thee, Stronger: Holy, Holy, Holy Thou, God, have mercy on us the Mother of God.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Thou hast raised me up from bed and sleep, O Lord, enlighten my mind and heart, and open my lips, in hedgehog to sing Thee, Holy Trinity: Holy, Holy, Holy, O God, have mercy on us with the Theotokos.
And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.
Suddenly the Judge will come, and every day the deeds will be exposed, but with fear we call at midnight: Holy, Holy, Holy Thou, God, have mercy on us through the Theotokos.
Lord have mercy. (12 times)

№ 1

God, cleanse me a sinner, for I have done no good before Thee; but deliver me from the evil one, and let Thy will be in me, but without condemnation I will open my unworthy mouth and praise Your holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever Amen.

Rising from sleep, I bring the midnight song to Thee, Savior, and falling down crying out to Thee: do not let me fall asleep in a sinful death, but have mercy on me, crucified by will, and speeding me up lying in laziness, and save me in anticipation and prayer, and after a dream in the night, shine upon me a sinless day, Christ God, and save me.

To Thee, O Master, Lover of mankind, I have risen from sleep, and I strive for Thy works by Thy mercy, and I pray to Thee: help me at all times, in all things, and deliver me from every evil worldly thing and the devil's haste, and save me, and enter into your eternal kingdom. You are my Creator and all good, the Provider and Giver, all my hope is in You, and I send glory to You, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord, with Thy many goodness and Thy great bounty, Thou hast given me, Thy servant, the past time of this night without adversity to pass away from all evil; You Yourself, Master, of all Creators, vouchsafe me with Your true light and an enlightened heart to do Your will, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

After reading prayers to St. Basil:

№ 5

Lord Almighty, God of strength and all flesh, living in the highest and looking down on the humble, test the hearts and wombs and the secrets of people in the foreknowledge, Beginningless and Eternal Light, with Him there is no change, or change overshadowing; Himself, the Immortal King, accept our prayers, even at the present time, boldly on the multitude of Your bounties, from bad mouths to You, and leave us our sins, even in deed, and in word, and thought, knowledge, or ignorance, we have sinned; and cleanse us from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And grant us with a cheerful heart and a sober thought the whole night of our present life, awaiting the coming of the bright and revealed day of Your Only Begotten Son, the Lord and God and Savior of our Jesus Christ, in which the Judge of all will come with glory, give to anyone according to his deeds; yes, not fallen and lazy, but awake and exalted in the work of the future, prepare, in joy and the Divine chamber of His glory, we will live, where the unceasing voice is celebrating, and the indescribable sweetness of those who see Your face is inexpressible kindness. Thou art the true Light, enlightening and sanctifying everything, and all creation sings to You forever and ever. Amen.

Let us bless you, the highest God and Lord of mercy, who is always working with us, great and unexplored, glorious and terrible, there are no number of them, who gave us sleep for the repose of our infirmities, and the weakening of the labors of the laborious flesh. We thank Thee, for thou didst not destroy us with our iniquities, but thou didst love mankind as usual, and in the hopelessness of lying we raised up thou, in hedgehog to glorify Thy power. The same we pray to Your immeasurable goodness, enlighten our thoughts, eyes, and lift our minds from the heavy sleep of laziness: open our mouths, and fulfill Your praise, as if we could unswervingly sing and confess to You, in all, and from all to the glorious God, The Beginningless Father, with Your Only Begotten Son, and Your All-Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

No. 7 Holy Mother of God

I sing of Your grace, Lady, I pray to You, bless my mind. Teach me the right to walk, by the way of Christ's commandments. Strengthen your vigilance to the song, chasing away despondency. Bound by the captives of the falls, resolve your prayers, O God-bride. Preserve me in the night and in the days, delivering me those who fight the enemy. Having given birth to the life-giver of God, revive me with passions. Even the Light of the non-evening gave birth, enlighten my blinded soul. O marvelous Lady of the Chamber, create the house of the Divine Spirit for me. Having given birth to a doctor, heal the souls of my many years of passion. Agitated by the storm of life, direct me to the path of repentance. Deliver me the eternal fire, and the evil worm, and tartar. Yes, do not show me joy as a demon, who is guilty of many sins. New create me, obsolete insensible, Immaculate, in sin. Show me a strange torment of all kinds, and implore all the Lord. Heavenly me improve joy, with all the saints, vouchsafe. Blessed Virgin, hear the voice of Your indecent servant. Give me a stream of tears, Most Pure, cleansing my soul of filth. I bring groans from the heart to Thee unceasingly, be zealous, Lady. Accept my prayer service, and bring it to the merciful God. Exceeding the Angel, create the worldly me above the confluence. Light-bearing heavenly Seine, direct spiritual grace in me. I raise my hands and mouth to praise, defiled by filth, All-blameless. Deliver me soulful dirty tricks, diligently imploring Christ; To him honor and worship befits, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

No. 8 Jesus Christ our Lord

Many-merciful and all-merciful, my God, Lord Jesus Christ, many for the sake of love descended and became incarnate, as if you would save everyone. And again, Savior, save me by grace, I pray Thee; if you save me from deeds, there is no grace, and a gift, but more duty. Hey, many in generosity and inexpressible in mercy! Believe in me, said thou, about my Christ, he will live and will not see death forever. If faith, even in Thee, saves the desperate, I believe, save me, for my God is You and the Creator. Faith instead of deeds may be imputed to me, my God, do not find deeds that justify me. But let that faith of mine prevail in place of all, let that one answer, that one justify me, that one show me a partaker of Your eternal glory.
May Satan not steal me away, and boast, O Word, tear me away from Your hand and fence; but either I want to, save me, or I don’t want to, Christ my Savior, anticipate soon, soon perished: Thou art my God from my mother’s womb. Vouchsafe me, Lord, now love Thee, as if I sometimes loved that same sin; and packs to work for you without laziness, as if you had worked before flattering satan. Most of all, I will work for You, the Lord and my God Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

No. 9 Guardian Angel

Holy Angel, stand before my accursed soul and my passionate life, do not leave me a sinner, depart from me below for my intemperance. Give no place to the crafty demon to possess me, the violence of this mortal body; strengthen my poor and thin hand and guide me on the path of salvation. To her, the holy Angel of God, the guardian and patron of my accursed soul and body, forgive me all, insult you with great insults all the days of my stomach, and if I have sinned this past night, cover me this present day, and save me from every temptation of the opposite Yes, in no sin will I anger God, and pray for me to the Lord, may he confirm me in His fear, and show me worthy of His servant of goodness. Amen.

No. 10 Mother of God

My Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos, with Thy holy and all-powerful supplications, expel from me, Thy humble and cursed servant, despondency, oblivion, foolishness, negligence, and all filthy, crafty and blasphemous thoughts from my wretched heart and from my darkened mind; and extinguish the flame of my passions, for I am poor and cursed. And deliver me from many and fierce memories and enterprises, and from all the actions of evil free me. As if you are blessed from all generations, and Your honorable name is glorified forever and ever. Amen.

Next, there is an appeal to the saint, whose name you were named.

Pray to God for me, holy servant of God (name), as I diligently resort to you, a quick helper and prayer book for my soul.

After that, a song of praise is raised to the Mother of God

Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you; Blessed are you in women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, as if the Savior gave birth to our souls.

About the Departed

Give rest, O Lord, to the souls of your departed servants: my parents, relatives, benefactors (their names), and all Orthodox Christians, and forgive them all sins, voluntary and involuntary, and grant them the Kingdom of Heaven.

If instead of two short prayers “for the living” and “for the dead” given above, two long memorial sacred texts are read:

Funeral: For health

Remember, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, Thy mercy and bounty from the ages of existence, for their sake, and became human, and crucifixion and death, for the sake of the right of those who believe in You, deign to endure; and you rose from the dead, you ascended into heaven and sit at the right hand of God the Father, and look down on the humble prayers of those who call on you with all your heart: incline your ear, and hear the humble prayer of me, your indecent servant, in the stench of spiritual fragrance, offering you for all your people .
And in the first place, remember Your Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, which you have provided with Your honest Blood, and confirm, and strengthen, and expand, multiply, die, and keep the gates of hell forever and ever; Calm down the tearing of the Churches, extinguish the pagan vacillations, and soon destroy and eradicate the heresies of rebellion, and turn into nothingness by the power of Your Holy Spirit. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on our God-preserved country, its authorities and its army, protect their power with peace, and subdue every enemy and adversary under the nose of the Orthodox, and speak peace and good in their hearts about Your Church of the Holy, and about all Your people: let us live a quiet and silent life in orthodoxy, and in all piety and purity. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on the Great Lord and Father of our Most Holy Patriarch Kirill, His Grace metropolitans, archbishops and bishops of the Orthodox, priests and deacons, and all the church’s reckoning, even set you to shepherd Your verbal flock, and with their prayers have mercy and save me a sinner. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on my spiritual father (his name), and forgive my sins with his holy prayers. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on my parents (their names), brothers and sisters, and my relatives according to the flesh, and all the neighbors of my family, and friends, and grant them Your peace and peace of good. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy, according to the multitude of Thy bounties, all the holy monks, monks and nuns, and all in virginity and reverence and fasting living in monasteries, in deserts, in caves, mountains, pillars, gates, stone clefts, sea islands, and in every place of Thy dominion, faithfully living, and piously serving Thee, and praying to Thee: ease their burden, and console their sorrow, and give them strength and strength to the feat of Thee, and by their prayers grant me forgiveness of sins. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on the old and the young, the poor and orphans and widows, and those who are in sickness and sorrow, troubles and sorrows, situations and captivity, prisons and imprisonments, rather in persecution, for the sake of Thee and the Orthodox faith, from the tongue of the godless, from the apostate and from the heretics, who are your servants, and remember, visit, strengthen, comfort, and soon by your strength I will weaken, give them freedom and deliver. (Bow)

Save, Lord, and have mercy on those who do good to us, who have mercy and nourish us, who gave us alms, and who commanded us unworthy to pray for them, and who give us rest, and do Thy mercy with them, granting them everything, even for the salvation of petition, and eternal blessings perception . (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on those who are sent to the service, traveling, our fathers and brothers, and all Orthodox Christians. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on them with my madness of temptations, and turn away from the path of salvation, lead me to evil and unlike deeds; By Your Divine Providence return the packs to the path of salvation. (Bow)
Save, Lord, and have mercy on those who hate and offend me, and those who do misfortune to me, and do not leave them to perish for my sake, a sinner. (Bow)
Apostates from the Orthodox faith and blinded by fatal heresies, enlighten with the light of Your knowledge and honor Your Holy Apostles of the Cathedral Church. (Bow).

Funeral: For the dead

Remember, Lord, from the life of this departed orthodox kings and queens, noble princes and princesses, the most holy patriarchs, His Grace metropolitans, archbishops and bishops of the Orthodox, in the priesthood and in the parish of the church, and in the monastic rank you served, and in your eternal villages with the saints rest. (Bow.)
Remember, Lord, the souls of your departed servants, my parents (their names), and all relatives in the flesh; and forgive them all their sins, voluntary and involuntary, granting them the Kingdom and the communion of Your eternal good and Your endless and blissful life pleasure. (Bow)
Remember, Lord, and all in the hope of the resurrection and eternal life of the reposed, fathers and our brothers and sisters, and lying here and everywhere, Orthodox Christians, and with Your saints, where the light of Your face dwells, indwell, and have mercy on us, as Good and Humanitarian. Amen. (Bow)
Grant, Lord, the forgiveness of sins to all those who have departed in the faith and hope of the resurrection, our fathers, brothers and sisters, and create for them an eternal memory. (Three times)

Final

It is worthy to eat as if truly blessed Theotokos, Blessed and Immaculate and Mother of our God. The most honest Cherubim and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, without the corruption of God the Word, who gave birth to the real Mother of God, we magnify Thee.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.
Lord have mercy. (Three times)
Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.
Note: From Pascha to Ascension, instead of this prayer, the refrain and irmos of the 9th song of the Paschal canon are read:
“An angel crying out more graciously: Pure Virgin, rejoice! And pack the river: rejoice! Your Son is risen three days from the tomb and raised up the dead; folks, have fun!
Shine, shine, new Jerusalem, the glory of the Lord is upon you. Rejoice now and rejoice, Sione. But you, Pure One, show off, Mother of God, about the rise of Your Nativity.

Evening prayers

Read before bed. A person thanks the Lord for a good day, meekly asks for a blessing for the coming dream, repents for the expected or accidental sins committed by him throughout the day.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

It is with such an appeal that it is necessary to begin a prayer service, consisting of reading several prayers on occasion: in ours - before going to bed.

Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all of us, have mercy on us. Amen.
Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.

Heavenly king

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immeasurable, have mercy on us. (thrice).
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Holy Trinity

Lord have mercy (three times).
Glory ... and now ...
Note: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name: Thy kingdom come: Thy will be done, as in heaven, and on earth. Give us our daily bread today: and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. [Amen.]
(For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.)

Trinity Troparion

Rising from sleep, we bow down to Thee, Blessed, and cry out to the Angelic song of Thee, Stronger: holy, holy, holy art thou, God, have mercy on us with the Theotokos.
Glory: Thou hast raised me up from bed and sleep, O Lord: enlighten my mind and heart, and open my mouth, in hedgehog to sing Thee, Holy Trinity: holy, holy, holy, Thou, God, have mercy on us with the Theotokos.
And now: Suddenly, the Judge will come, and every day the deeds will be exposed, but we call with fear at midnight: holy, holy, holy art thou, God, have mercy on us the Mother of God.
Lord have mercy (12 times).

To the Holy Trinity

Rising from sleep, I thank Thee, Holy Trinity, for many, for the sake of Thy goodness and long-suffering, were not angry with me, lazy and sinful, below you destroyed me with my iniquities: but you usually loved humanity, and in the hopelessness of the lying one raised me up, in a hedgehog matin and glorify your power. And now enlighten my mental eyes, open my mouth to learn Thy words and understand Thy commandments, and do Thy will, and sing Thee in confession of the heart, and sing of Thy holy name, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever . Amen.

worship jesus christ

Come, let us worship our King God.
Come, let us bow down and bow down to Christ our King God.
Come, let us worship and bow down to Christ Himself, the King and our God.

(Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy bounties, cleanse my iniquity. Most of all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is before me. I have sinned alone and done evil before Thee: that thou shalt be justified in Thy words and overcome when thou judgest. I will be cleansed with hyssop, and I will be whiter than snow. Give joy and gladness to my ears, and the humble bones will rejoice. Turn Thy face from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquity. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit. in my womb. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Give me back the joy of Thy salvation, and strengthen me by your sovereign Spirit. God of my salvation, rejoice my tongue is thy truth. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. As if you would have desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings.
Sacrifice to God - the spirit is contrite: the heart is contrite and humble, God will not despise. Please, O Lord, with Thy favor Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; then they will offer calves on Your altar.)

Jesus Christ Lord

(To Thee, O Lord, Lover of mankind, I have risen from sleep, and I strive for Thy works by Thy mercy, and let me pray to Thee: help me at all times, in all things, and deliver me from every evil worldly thing and the devil's haste, and save me and lead me into Your eternal kingdom. You are my Creator and Provider and Giver of every good thing, all my hope is in You, and I am sending glory to You now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.)
Who at all times and for every hour, worshiped and glorified in heaven and on earth, Christ God, long-suffering, many-merciful, many-merciful, Whomever love the righteous and have mercy on sinners, Whomever calls for salvation, promises for the sake of future blessings: Himself, Lord, accept and ours in the hour of this prayer and correct our belly to Thy commandments, sanctify our souls, cleanse our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our thoughts: and deliver us from all sorrow, evils and diseases: protect us with Your saints Angles, but keep and instruct them with an army let us achieve in the union of faith and in the mind unapproachable Thy glory: for blessed art thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Mother of God

My Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos, with Thy holy and all-powerful supplications, expel from me, Thy humble and accursed servant, despondency, oblivion, foolishness, negligence, and all filthy, crafty and blasphemous thoughts from my wretched heart and from my darkened mind: and extinguish the flame of passions mine, as if I am poor and cursed, and deliver me from many and fierce memories and enterprises, and from all the actions of evil, free me: as blessed are you from all generations, and Your honorable name is glorified forever and ever. Amen.

Saint Joseph (Betrothed of the Virgin Mary)

Chosen as the guardian of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, the nurse and feeder of the God-Man, righteous Joseph, glorifying your service to the inexpressible mystery of the incarnation of God the Word, let us praise you. Now you are standing before the throne of Christ our God, and having great boldness towards Him, pray for us who cry out to you: Rejoice, righteous Joseph, quick helper and prayer book for our souls. (Kontakion 1 from Akathist).

The patron saint, whose name a person is named

Pray to God for me, holy servant of God (name), as I diligently resort to you, a quick helper and prayer book for my soul.

Heavenly spirits - angels, archangels

All heavenly Powers, Holy Angels and Archangels, pray to God for us sinners.

About everyday sins

I confess to You, the Lord my God and Creator, in the Holy Trinity, the One glorified and worshiped Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, all my sins, even when I have done all the days of my stomach, and for every hour, and at the present time, by deed, word, thought , sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch and all my senses, mental and bodily together, in the image of you my God and the Creator of anger, and my neighbor untrue. Pitying about these, I present myself to you, my God, and I have the will to repent, then you, Lord my God, help me, with tears I humbly pray to you; Forgive me, who has passed my sins by Thy mercy, and resolve from all these, as Good and Lover of mankind.)

Repentance

Weaken, leave, forgive, God, our sins, free and involuntary, even in word and in deed, even in knowledge and not in knowledge, even in days and nights, even in mind and in thought: forgive us all, as good and philanthropist.

About the Living and the Dead

Whoever hates and offends us, Lord, forgive us and philanthropist. Bless those who do good. To all our brethren and relatives, and to those who are secluded, grant all the same to the salvation of petitions and eternal life. In the illnesses of the being, visit and heal, in the dungeons of the being of freedom, wake up the ruler floating on the sea, hastening to travel. Lord, remember our captive brethren, fellow believers of the Orthodox faith, and deliver them from every evil situation. Have mercy, Lord, and forgive those who have commanded us, the unworthy, to pray for them. Have mercy, O Lord, on those who serve us and have mercy on us, and grant them everything for the salvation of petitions and eternal life. Remember, Lord, the fathers and our brothers who have fallen asleep before, and all who died in the pious faith; and I have instilled where the light of your face dwells. Remember, Lord, our thinness and wretchedness, and enlighten our minds with the light of the mind of Thy holy Gospel, and guide us on the path of Thy commandments; with the prayers of your most pure Mother and all your saints. Amen.

Final

[Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, blessed Mary, the Lord is with you. Blessed are You in women, and blessed is the fruit of Your womb, as if the Savior gave birth to our souls.]
[We run under Your mercy, Virgin Mary, do not despise our prayers in sorrows, but deliver us from troubles, one pure and blessed. ]
(Victory to the chosen Voivode, as if we had got rid of the evil ones, we will thankfully describe Ty Thy servants, the Mother of God: but as if having an invincible power, free us from all troubles, let us call Ty: rejoice, Bride of the Bride.)
Glorious Ever-Virgin Mother of Christ God, bring our prayer to Your Son and our God, may our souls be saved by You.
I place all my hope in You, Mother of God, keep me under Your shelter.
Enlighten my eyes, O Christ God, lest I fall asleep into death, lest my enemy say: Be strong against him.

Be the intercessor of my soul, O God, as I walk in the midst of many snares: deliver me from them and save me, Blessed, like a philanthropist.
My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my protection is the Holy Spirit: Holy Trinity, glory to Thee.
[God, be merciful to me a sinner.]

[God, cleanse my sins and have mercy on me.]
[I have sinned without number, Lord, forgive me.]
[† In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.]
(It is worthy to eat as truly blessed Theotokos, blessed and immaculate and the Mother of our God. The most honorable Cherubim and the most glorious seraphim without comparison, without the corruption of God the Word, who gave birth to the Mother of God, we magnify Thee.)
(Glory... and now...)
(Lord, have mercy (thrice).)
(Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.)

Before bedtime

Let God arise, and let those who hate Him be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee from His presence. Like smoke disappears, let them disappear: like wax melts from the face of fire, so let the demons perish from the face of those who love God and are marked by the sign of the cross and say in joy: Rejoice, most honorable and life-giving cross of the Lord, drive away the demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, crucified on you, who descended into hell and corrected the power of the devil and gave us to you, His honest cross to trample on any adversary. O most honorable and life-giving cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Lady Virgin Mother of God and with all the saints forever. Amen.
Or
Protect me, Lord, with the power of Your honest and life-giving Cross, and save me from all evil.

falling asleep

Into Your hands, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, I commit my spirit. Bless me, have mercy on me and grant me eternal life. Amen.

We have tried to simplify the task as much as possible for a person interested in this topic by dividing the above material, building it in a logical sequence, without violating the sequence of sacred formulas. We hope this helps to some extent.

When studying the article and the prayers, psalms, etc. offered to it, please pay close attention to the notes on each text: how to read, how many times, how to bow, what prayers can be replaced with what.

Of course, not every person has time, unable to immediately gain patience, humility for such lengthy daily rituals. Nevertheless, gradually, step by step, discovering divine revelations for himself, the layman accepts other, albeit strict, rules of the church. With the blessing and with the assistance of the spiritual father, canonical formulas are chosen together with the priest. In the meantime, due to the complexity of mastering Christian science, at first a beginner can read the main sacred texts, slowly adding the rest to them.

right time

In a special booklet called a prayer book, there are clear instructions for working with certain sacred texts: just getting out of bed - in the morning, in the evening shortly before going to bed, that is, after all the worries of life of a long day. In no case after reading do not watch TV, do not listen to the radio or something else, but immediately go to bed.

However, there are times when, for some reason, a person does not have the opportunity to sleep: a work shift with a flexible schedule, for example. Then it makes no sense to ask for a blessing, because you still won’t lie down to rest. It is better instead of the usual rule to work with the Gospel or something else at your discretion.

Why you need to read

This is not an easy painstaking daily work that requires maximum concentration, on words that are lifted up to God. Not just a time-consuming activity. And also the discovery in your soul of the inner Light of Truth. Sometimes, pronouncing a complex formula of sacred words, you do not always understand what lies behind this or that phrase.
But suddenly, at some point, with the blessing of the Lord comes the understanding of something special, directed straight into the soul. And then a feeling that cannot be expressed in words - reverence, joy fills every corner of the soul with its light. Therefore, those who wish to acquire it must work diligently and selflessly.

Religious Christian literature

Having worked with the established rules, feeling the need to broaden your personal spiritual horizons, by all means carry out your plan, having previously consulted with the confessor on the subject of reading religious literature. Thank God, there are quite a lot of them and there is plenty to choose from.

Most often read:

  • Holy Scripture;
  • Bible: Old and New Testament;
  • Lives of the Saints;
  • trebnik;
  • the law of God;
  • Book of hours;
  • Akathists.

The list can be continued for a long time. Reading religious works is not only useful, but makes you think about many things. Rethink your perspective on a lot of things. Sweep away the garbage, join the divine light, finally learn to love - God, people, yourself - simply and with all your heart.

True, this is not an everyday reading, and sometimes a difficult task, since what is written requires reflection, penetration into the very essence of the material being read, but not only. The difficulty lies in the fact that many books are written in the Old Slavonic language, which for a modern reader who is not used to this, is quite a serious obstacle.

Therefore, you should not immediately take on fundamental things, but rather consult with the priest, ask for his blessing, ask him to explain misunderstood places.

How to write and pronounce

Accepted abbreviations in prayer books or other books about worship are often used to save space.
Of course, this method is convenient for church people (readers, singers, etc.), who are well versed in the system of notes and footnotes. But what should a novice adherent of faith do? How not to get lost, even if you haven’t figured out the basics yet? The following brief dictionary of abbreviations will come to the rescue below, giving the key to understanding and correctly reading the most common religious formulations.

1.
“Glory, and now: (or: “Glory: And now:”) - Glory to the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.
"Glory:" - Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
"and now:" - And now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.
Attention! In the Psalter, each of the kathismas - the twenty parts into which the Psalter is divided for reading - is divided into three parts, after each of which is usually written: "Glory:" (these parts are therefore called "Glories"). In this (and only this) case, the designation "Glory:" replaces the following prayers:

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, O God. (Three times)
Lord have mercy. (Three times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.
2.
"Alleluia" (Three times) - Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, glory to Thee, God. (Three times)
3.
“The Trisagion according to Our Father” or “The Trisagion. Holy Trinity ... Our Father ... "- prayers are read sequentially:
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Three times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.
Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake.
Lord have mercy. (Three times)
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.
Our Father, Thou art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
4.
The abbreviation "Come, let us worship ..." should read:
Come, let us worship our King God. (Bow)
Come, let us bow down and bow down to Christ, our King God. (Bow)
Come, let us worship and bow down to Christ Himself, the King and our God. (Bow).
5.
Instead of the Theotokos, we usually say: Most Holy Theotokos, save us, and instead of the Trinities: Most Holy Trinity, our God, glory to Thee, or Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Much more terminology is used in books for serving God, with which professionals work - priests, or people who are deeply true believers. Don't jump right in here, start small. May the Lord help you!

In the morning, getting up from sleep, still in bed, cross yourself with a prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.

Getting out of bed and washing your face, and in the evening, going to sleep, stand with reverence before the holy icons and, looking at them, directing your thoughts to the invisible God and his saints, earnestly, slowly, protecting yourself with the sign of the cross and bowing, say with tenderness the prayer of the publican:

(bow) (bow). I have sinned without number, Lord, have mercy and forgive me, a sinner (bow).

(bow is always earthly).

(bow) (bow).

Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy (bow).

Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, by the power of the Honest and Life-Giving Cross, and my guardian holy angel, and for the sake of all the saints, have mercy and save me a sinner, for I am Good and Lover of mankind. Amen. (bow to the earth, without the sign of the cross).

These prayers are called "beginning" or "incoming and outgoing obeisances" because they are performed at the beginning and after any prayer rule.

After that, repeat the prayer of the publican with bows:

God, be merciful to me a sinner (bow). Create me, O Lord, and have mercy on me (bow). I have sinned without number, Lord, have mercy and forgive me a sinner (bow).

And with reverence begin the morning prayers.

For the prayers of our saints, our fathers, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us. Amen (the bow is always half-length). Cross yourself and say three times:

Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee for every sake.

Further: God, cleanse me a sinner, for I have done no good before You (bow) but deliver me from the evil one, and may Thy will be done in me (bow) May I open my unworthy mouth without condemnation and praise Your holy name: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen (bow).

Prayers circled with a line are not read in the evening.

King of heaven, Comforter, True Soul, Who is everywhere and fulfilling everything, the Treasury of the good and the Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our soul.

Holy God, Holy Strong, Holy Immortals, have mercy on us (three times with bows). Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen. Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse our sins. Lord, forgive our iniquities. Saints, visit and heal our infirmities, for Your name's sake. Lord have mercy (thrice). Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen. Our Father, Thou art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God, have mercy on us. Amen. Lord have mercy (12 times).

If morning - read:

Having risen from sleep, I thank Thee, All-Holy Trinity, as if for the sake of goodness and long-suffering many did not become angry with me, a sinful and lazy servant of Yours, and did not destroy me with my iniquities, but philanthropy. And lying in hopelessness, raise me up to morning and glorify Your invincible power. And now, Lord, Most Holy God, enlighten the eyes of my heart and open my mouth to learn Thy words, and understand Thy commandments, and do Thy will, and sing Thee in confession of the heart. Sing and glorify Thy most honorable and magnificent name: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

If evening:

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And now, and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Come, let us worship our King God (bow). Come, let us worship Christ, the King and our God (bow). Come, let us bow down and bow down to the very Lord Jesus Christ, the King and our God (bow).

PSALM 50 (repentant)/>

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy. And according to the multitude of Thy mercies, blot out my iniquity. First of all, wash me from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. As I know my iniquity, and my sin before me is taken out. I have sinned against you alone and done evil before you. As if you were justified in your words and conquered when you judge. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. Behold, thou didst love the truth; the unknown and secret wisdom of Thy revealed to me. Sprinkle me with hyssop and I will be cleansed. Wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Give joy and gladness to my ears: the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and cleanse all my iniquities. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Do not turn me away from Thy Face, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Give me the joy of Your salvation and strengthen me with a domineering spirit. I will teach the wicked in Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from the blood, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue rejoices in thy righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will proclaim your praise. As if he would have desired a sacrifice, he would have given it; do not favor burnt offerings. Sacrifice to God - the spirit is contrite: the heart is contrite and humble, God will not despise. Bless, O Lord, with Thy favor Zion; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built up. Then be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, an exaltation and a burnt offering. Then they will offer a calf on Your altar.

Shielding ourselves reverently with the sign of the cross, we pronounce the SYMBOL OF FAITH - the words of the holy fathers of the First and Second Ecumenical Councils (the sign of the cross without bowing):

I believe in one God, the Almighty Father, the Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible. And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, Who was born from the Father before all ages. Light from Light, true God from true God, born, not created, consubstantial with the Father, He is all bysha. For us, man, and for our salvation, who descended from heaven, and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin became human. Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, suffering and buried. And resurrected on the third day according to the scriptures. And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father. And the packs of the future with glory to judge the living and the dead, His kingdom has no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the true and life-giving Lord, who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets. And into one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the remission of sins. I tea the resurrection of the dead. And the life of the next century. Amen.

Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, rejoicing Mary, the Lord is with you, blessed are you in women and blessed is the Fruit of your womb, as if you gave birth to Christ the Savior, the Redeemer of our souls (with bows three times).

O! All-singing Mati, giving birth to all the saints, the most holy Word, accept the current offering, deliver everyone from all misfortunes, and the coming torment, crying out to Ty: Alleluia (thrice, with bows to the earth).

Invincible and divine power of the honest and life-giving Cross of the Lord, do not leave me a sinner who trusts in You (bow). My Most Holy Lady Theotokos, have mercy on me, and save me, and help me now, in this life, and in the outcome of my soul, and in the future (bow). All heavenly powers, holy angels and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, have mercy on me, and pray for me a sinner to the Lord God, and help me now, in this life, and in the outcome of my soul, and in the future (bow). Angel of Christ, my guardian saint, have mercy on me and pray for me a sinner to the Lord God, and help me now, in this life, and in the outcome of my soul, and in the future (bow). Holy great John, prophet and forerunner of the Lord, have mercy on me, and pray for me a sinner to the Lord God, and help me now, in this life, and in the outcome of my soul, and in the future (bow). Holy glorious apostles, prophets and martyrs, saints, reverend and righteous and all saints, have mercy on me, and pray for me a sinner to the Lord God, and help me now, in this life, and in the departure of my soul, and in the future (bow).

After this, pray three times with bows the following prayers.

Holy Trinity our God, glory to Thee. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. Glory, Lord, to Your Holy Cross. Most Holy Lady Theotokos, save me Thy sinful servant. Angel of Christ, guardian of my saints, save me, your sinful servant. Holy archangels and angels, pray to God for me a sinner. Holy Great John, Prophet and Forerunner, Baptist of the Lord, pray to God for me a sinner. Holy glorious prophet Elijah, pray to God for me a sinner. Holy forefathers, pray to God for me a sinner. Hierarch of Christ and confessor Ambrose, pray to God for me a sinner. Our reverend and God-bearing fathers, shepherd and teacher of the universe, pray to God for me a sinner. All saints, pray to God for me a sinner.

After that, pray to the saint whose name you bear, and the saint celebrated on this date, and also to other saints, to whom you want. Do not forget to pray and penance, what obeisances do you have from your spiritual father.

Then pray for the health of the ruling bishop, spiritual father, parents, relatives and friends, pronouncing three times with bows for health and salvation:

Merciful Lord, save and have mercy on your servants (bow) (name the names for whom you pray). Deliver them from all sorrow, anger and need (bow). From every disease of mind and body (bow). And forgive them every sin, voluntary and involuntary (bow). And create useful things for our souls (bow).

Then pray for the repose of spiritual fathers, parents and loved ones, and for whom you have zeal, saying three times with bows:

Rest, O Lord, the soul of the departed Thy servant (bow) (name the names for whom you pray). And the fir-tree in this life, as if the people have sinned, You, as the God of mankind, forgive them and have mercy (bow). Deliver eternal torment (bow). Communicators make the kingdom of heaven (bow). And create useful things for our souls (bow).

When you finish your prayers, say:

Lord, whether by word, or deed, or thought, I have sinned in my whole life, have mercy on me and forgive me, for Thy mercy's sake (bow to the earth). I place all my hope in You, Mother of God, keep me in Your blood (bow to the earth). My hope is God, and my refuge is Christ, and my protector is the Holy Spirit (bow to the earth).

It is worthy to eat, as truly bless Thee, the Theotokos, eternally blessed and immaculate, and the Mother of our God. The most honest cherubim and the most glorious truly seraphim, without the corruption of God the Word, who gave birth, the present Mother of God, we magnify Thee (bow is always earthly).

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (bow). And now and forever and forever and ever, amen (bow). Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy (bow).

And leave:/>

Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy and save me a sinner, for I am Good and Lover of mankind. Amen.

And, bending down to the ground, without overshadowing yourself with the sign of the cross, read forgiveness:

Weaken, leave, let go, O God, my sins, free and involuntary, even in word and in deed, and even in knowledge and not in knowledge, even in mind and in thought, even in days and nights, forgive all of us, as if Good and Humanitarian. Amen.

Rising, read this prayer with bows:

Forgive those who hate and offend us, Lord, Lover of mankind. Do good to those who do good, to the brethren and to all our relatives, even those who are secluded, grant them everything, even for the salvation of petitions and eternal life (bow). In the diseases of the being, visit and heal, in the dungeons of the living freedom, on the waters of the floating, the Ruler wake up and those who travel on the way, correct and hasten (bow). Remember, Lord, and our captive brethren, fellow believers of the Orthodox faith, and deliver them from every evil situation (bow). Have mercy, Lord, on those who gave us alms and commanded us, the unworthy, to pray for them, forgive them and have mercy (bow). Have mercy, Lord, on those who work and serve us, who have mercy and nourish us, and grant them everything, even for salvation, petitions and eternal life (bow). Remember, Lord, before the departed fathers and our brethren, and instill them, where the light of Your face dwells (bow). Remember, Lord, both our thinness and poverty, and enlighten our minds with the light of the mind of Your holy Gospel, and guide us on the path of Your commandments, with the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother and all Your saints, amen (bow).

These prayers end with the usual seven-prostration beginning (see "incoming and outgoing prostrations" at the beginning).

At the end of the prayers, both in the morning and in the evening, guarding yourself with your pectoral cross, say: Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, bless and sanctify, and save me by the power of Your Life-Giving Cross.

Then kiss the cross.

And read the prayer to the Cross, crossing yourself:

May God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and may those who hate Him flee from His face, as if smoke disappears, may they disappear. As wax melts from the face of fire, so let the demons perish from the face of those who love God, and are marked by the sign of the cross, and let us rejoice, saying: Rejoice, Cross of the Lord, casting out the demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, crucified on Thee, descended into hell, and corrected the power of the devil , and gave us His Honorable Cross to drive out every adversary.

O! Holy and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, help me, with the Most Holy Lady Theotokos, and with all the holy powers of heaven, always and now and forever and ever and ever. Amen.

Prayers during the day

Prayer before leaving the house

I deny you, Satan, your pride and service to you, and combine with You, Christ, in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. (Shield yourself with the sign of the cross)

Prayer of the last Optina Elders

Lord, give me peace of mind to meet everything that the coming day brings me. Let me completely surrender to Your holy will. For every hour of this day, instruct and support me in everything. Whatever news I receive during the day, teach me to accept it with a calm soul and firm conviction that everything is Thy holy will. Lord, guide my thoughts and feelings in all my words and deeds. In all unforeseen cases, do not let me forget that everything is sent down by You. Teach me to act directly and reasonably with each member of my family, without embarrassing or upsetting anyone. Lord, give me the strength to endure the fatigue of the coming day and all the events during the day. Guide my will and teach me to repent, pray, believe, hope, endure, forgive and love everyone. Amen.

Prayers for the welfare of children

Prayer to the Savior for children throughout the day

Lord Jesus Christ, be Thy mercy on my children (names), keep them under Thy shelter, cover them from every crafty lust, drive away from them every enemy and adversary, open their ears and eyes of the heart, grant tenderness and humility to their hearts. Lord, we are all Your creation, have pity on my children (names) and turn them to repentance. Save, Lord, and have mercy on my children (names) and enlighten their minds with the light of the mind of Your Gospel, and guide them on the path of Your commandments, and teach them, Savior, to do Your will, as You are our God.

First Prayer (Kazan Amvrosievskaya stauropegial female desert)

Sweetest Jesus, God of my heart! You gave me children according to the flesh, they are Yours according to the soul; You have redeemed both my soul and theirs with Your priceless blood; for the sake of your divine blood, I beg you, my sweetest Savior: with your grace, touch the hearts of my children (names) and my godchildren (names), protect them with your divine fear, keep them from bad inclinations and habits, direct them to the bright path of life, truth and goodness, adorn their lives with everything good and saving, arrange their fate as if you yourself are good and save their souls in the image of fate. Lord God of our fathers! Give my children (names) and my godchildren (names) a right heart to keep Your commandments, Your revelations and Your statutes and do all this. God! To the Creator of all creatures, applying mercy to mercy, You have made me worthy to be the mother of a family; Your goodness has given me children, and I dare to say: they are Your children! Because You gave them life, revived them with an immortal soul, revived them by baptism for a life in accordance with Your will, adopted them and accepted them into the bosom of Your Church. God! Keep them in a blessed state until the end of life; make them worthy to be partakers of the mysteries of Your Covenant; sanctify with your truth; may your holy name be sanctified in them and through them! Send me Your grace-filled help in their upbringing for the glory of Your name and the good of your neighbor! Grant me methods, patience and strength for this purpose! Teach me to plant in their hearts the root of true wisdom - your fear! Illuminate them with the light of the ruling universe of Your Wisdom! May they love You with all their soul and with all their thoughts, may they cleave to You with all their heart and all their lives, may they tremble at Your words! Grant me understanding to convince them that true life consists in keeping Your commandments; that labor, strengthened by piety, delivers serene contentment in this life and inexpressible bliss in eternity. Reveal to them the understanding of Your law! Yes, until the end of their days they act in the feeling of Your omnipresence! Instill in their hearts horror and disgust from all lawlessness, may they be blameless in their ways, may they always remember that You are the All-good God, a zealot of Your law and righteousness! Keep them in chastity and reverence for Your name! Let them not discredit Your Church with their behavior, but let them live according to its precepts! Inspire them with a desire for useful teaching and make them capable of every good deed! May they acquire a true understanding of those subjects whose information is necessary in their state; May they be enlightened by knowledge beneficial to humanity. God! Wise me to imprint with indelible features in the mind and heart of my children the fear of fellowship with those who do not know Your fear, inspire them with every possible distance from any union with the lawless. May they not heed rotten conversations, may they not listen to frivolous people, may they not be led astray from Your path by bad examples, may they not be tempted by the fact that sometimes the path of the lawless is prosperous in this world! Heavenly Father! Grant me grace in every way to beware of giving my children a temptation by my actions, but, constantly keeping in mind their behavior, distract them from delusions, correct their errors, curb their stubbornness and obstinacy, refrain from striving for vanity and frivolity; let them not be carried away by foolish thoughts, let them not follow their hearts, let them not become proud in their thoughts, let them not forget you and your law. May the iniquity of their mind and health not destroy them, may the sins of their spiritual and bodily forces not relax. Righteous Judge, punishing children for the sins of their parents up to the third and fourth generation, turn away such punishment from my children, do not punish them for my sins, but sprinkle them with the dew of Thy grace, may they prosper in virtue and holiness, may they grow in Thy favor and in love pious people. Father of bounty and all mercy! As a parent, I would wish my children every abundance of earthly blessings, I would wish them blessings from the dew of heaven and from the fat of the earth, but may Thy holy will be with them! Arrange their fate according to Your good pleasure, do not deprive them of their daily bread in life, send down to them everything necessary in time for the acquisition of blessed eternity; be merciful to them when they sin against you; do not impute to them the sins of youth and their ignorance, bring their hearts to contrition when they resist the guidance of Thy goodness; punish and have mercy on them, directing them to the path pleasing to You, but do not reject them from Your face! Accept their prayers with favor, grant them success in every good deed, do not turn Your face away from them in the days of their sorrow, so that their temptations will not overtake them beyond their strength, Overshadow them with Your mercy, may Your Angel walk with them and save them from every misfortune and an evil path, Omnipotent God! Make me a mother rejoicing over her children, may they be my joy in the days of my life and my support in my old age. Deign me, with hope in Your mercy, to stand with them at Your Last Judgment and with unworthy boldness to say: “Here I am and my children whom You gave me, Lord!” Yes, together with them glorifying Thy inexpressible goodness and eternal love, I exalt Thy most holy name, Father, Son and Holy Soul, forever and ever.

Prayer two, for a warrior

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, hear me, unworthy servant (name). Lord, in Your gracious power, my children, Your servants (names). Have mercy and save them, for Your name's sake. Lord, forgive them all the sins, voluntary and involuntary, committed by them before You. Lord, guide them on the true path of Your commandments and enlighten their minds with the light of Christ for the salvation of the soul and the healing of the body. Lord, bless them at home, at school, on the road, and in every place of Your dominion. Lord, save them under Your holy shelter from a flying bullet, poison, fire, from a deadly ulcer and vain death. Lord, protect them from all visible and invisible enemies, from any disease, cleanse them from all filth and ease their mental suffering. Lord, grant them the grace of Your Holy Spirit for many years of life, health, chastity. Lord, increase and strengthen their mental abilities and bodily strength, which You have given them, Your blessing on a pious and, if You please, family life and shameless childbearing. Lord, grant me, unworthy and sinful of Your servant (name), a parental blessing on my children and Your servants at the present time, morning, day, night for the sake of Your name, for Your Kingdom is eternal, omnipotent and omnipotent.

Prayer to the Mother of God

O Most Holy Lady Virgin Mother of God, save and save under Your shelter my children (names), all the youths, maidens and babies, baptized and nameless and carried in the womb of their mother. Cover them with the robe of Your motherhood, keep them in the fear of God and in obedience to your parents, implore my Lord and Your Son, may He grant them useful things for their salvation. I entrust them to Your Motherly care, as You are the Divine Protection of Your servants. Mother of God, introduce me into the image of Your heavenly motherhood. Heal the spiritual and bodily wounds of my children (names), inflicted by my sins. I entrust my child entirely to my Lord Jesus Christ and Yours, Most Pure, heavenly patronage. Amen.

Prayers for well-being in business and teaching

Prayer before starting any work that is pleasing to God and useful to people.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls. Amen.

Prayer to the Savior before starting a good deed

Lord Jesus Christ, our God, accept our fervent prayer and bless the good intention and work of your servants (name), even if you start safely, and without any obstacle to your glory, complete. Hurry up as a worker and correct the works of your hands, and in perfection, by the power of your most holy Spirit, hastily create! Yours is, to have mercy and save us, our God, and we send glory to you, with your Father without beginning, and your most holy and good and life-giving Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayers at the end of any work

Thou art the fulfillment of all good things, my Christ, fill my soul with joy and gladness and save me, as One is Many-merciful. Amen.

Psalm 37 (read when things are going badly)

Lord, do not rebuke me with Your wrath, but punish me with Your anger. Like Your arrows unzosha in me, and Thou hast established Your hand on me. There is no healing in my flesh from the face of Your wrath; there is no peace in my bones from the face of my sins. As if my iniquity exceeded my head, as if a heavy burden was burdened on me. Resurrect and bend my wounds from the face of my madness. Suffered and slushy to the end, all day complaining about walking. Like my ladviya is filled with reproach and there is no healing in my flesh. I was embittered and resigned to the ground, roaring from the sighing of my heart. Lord, before You all my desire and my sighing is not hidden from You. My heart is troubled, leave me my strength, and the light of my eyes, and that one is not with me. My friends and my sincere ones are directly approaching me and stasha, and my neighbors are far away from me and are in need of those who seek my soul, and looking for an evil verb to me, vain and flattering all day long. But I am as if deaf not hearing, and as if he did not open his mouth. And like a man, do not hear and do not have reproof in your mouth. As if in You, Lord, I hope, You will hear, Lord my God. Yako rekh: yes, not when my enemies will please me: and always move my feet, yelling at me. For I am ready for wounds, and my illness is before me. As if my iniquity, I will proclaim and take care of my sin. My enemies live and become stronger than me, and multiply those who hate me without the truth. Those who repay me the evil, the good slander me, for the persecution of goodness. Do not leave me, Lord my God, do not depart from me. Come to my help, O Lord of my salvation.

Psalm 131 (with the anger of the ruler)

Remember, Lord, David and all his meekness: as they swear by the Lord, they promise God to Jacob: if I enter into the village of my house, or I climb on the bed of my bed, if I give my eyes sleep and my slumber is always at home, and the rest of my skraniam, until I find a place O Lord, a village to the God of Jacob. Behold, I have heard in Euphrates, I have found in the fields of oak forests. Let us enter into His dwellings, let us bow down to the place where we stand at His feet. Resurrect, O Lord, into Thy rest, Thou and Thy sanctuary. Your priests will be clothed with righteousness, and Your saints will rejoice. David, for the sake of your servant, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. The Lord swears to David by the truth and will not deny it: I will plant from the fruit of your womb on your throne. If your sons keep My covenant, and this is My testimony, which I will teach, and their sons will sit on your throne forever. As the Lord has chosen Zion, bring him to your dwelling. This is my rest forever and ever, I will dwell here, like a deceiver. I will bless his catch, I will satisfy his poor with bread, the priests will clothe him with salvation, and his saints will rejoice with joy. There I will raise up the horn of David; I will prepare a lamp for my anointed one. I will clothe his enemies with frost, and my shrine will flourish on it.

Prayer for the Preservation of Crops and Gardens

To you, Lord, we pray: hear our prayer, that by Your mercy they will be delivered, for the sake of Your name, our crops and gardens, now rightly destroyed for our sins and suffering real distress, from birds, worms, mice, moles and other animals, and far expelled from this place by Your power, let them not harm anyone, but these fields, and waters, and gardens will be left in complete peace, so that everything growing and born in them serves to Your glory and helps our needs, for all the angels praise You and we bring glory to you, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayers before the icons of the Mother of God "The Conqueror of Bread"

O Most Holy Virgin Theotokos, Merciful Lady, Queen of Heaven and Earth, of every Christian home and family, the Builder, those who work blessing, in need of inexhaustible wealth, orphans and widows and all people, the Nurse! Our Nourisher, who gave birth to the Feeder of the Universe and the Conqueror of our bread: You, Mistress, send down Your Maternal blessing on our city, villages and cornfields and every house, on Thee has hope. Meanwhile, with reverent awe and a contrite heart, we humbly pray to Thee: be also to us, Thy sinful and unworthy servant, wise house-builder, arranging our life well. Every community, every house and family in piety and Orthodoxy, unanimity, obedience and contentment observe. Feed the poor and the poor, support old age, raise babies, enlighten everyone to sincerely cry out to the Lord: “Give us our daily bread today.” Save, Most Pure Mother, Your people from every need, illness, famine, destruction, hail, fire, from every evil situation and every disorder. Our cloisters (vesi), houses and families and every soul of Christians and our whole country, intercede for peace and great mercy, let us praise Thee, our Merciful Nurse and Nurse, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prophet of God Elijah (during drought)

O laudable and marvelous prophet of God Elijah, shining on the earth with your life equal to the angels, with the most ardent zeal for the Lord Bose the Almighty, and even more glorious signs and wonders, the same, by the extreme goodwill of God to you, supernaturally raptured on a fiery chariot with your flesh to Heaven, worthy of to talk with the Savior of the world who was transfigured on Tabor, and now in the heavenly villages abide unceasingly and stand before the Throne of the Heavenly King! Hear us, sinners and indecent (names), at this hour coming before your holy icon and diligently resorting to your intercession. Pray for us the Lover of God, may he give us the spirit of repentance and contrition for our sins, and with his all-powerful grace, may he help us to leave the path of wickedness, and prosper in every good deed; may it strengthen us in the struggle against our passions and lusts; may it plant in our hearts the spirit of humility and meekness, the spirit of brotherly love and gentleness, the spirit of patience and chastity, the spirit of zeal for the glory of God and the salvation of others. Abolish with your prayers, prophet, the evil customs of the world, moreover, the pernicious and corrupting spirit of this age, which infects the Christian race with disrespect for the Divine Orthodox faith, for the charter of the Holy Church and for the commandments of the Lord, disrespect for the parent and those holding power, and overthrowing people into the abyss of wickedness , corruption and destruction. Turn away from us, wonderful prophet, by your intercession the righteous wrath of God and deliver all the cities and villages of our Fatherland from lack of rain and famine, from terrible storms and earthquakes, from deadly ulcers and diseases, from the invasion of enemies and internecine strife. Strengthen with your prayers, most glorious, our powers that be in the great and difficult feat of government, prosper them in all good deeds and undertakings to establish peace and truth in our country. Assist the Christ-loving army in the war with our enemies. Ask, prophet of God, from the Lord our shepherd, holy zeal for God, heartfelt concern for the salvation of the flock, wisdom in teaching and management, piety and strength in temptations, ask judges for impartiality and selflessness, righteousness and compassion for the offended, for all those in command, care for subordinates, mercy and right judge, but to subordinates humility and obedience to authorities and diligent performance of their duties; yes, having lived in peace and piety in this world, let us be worthy of partaking of eternal blessings in the Kingdom of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He deserves honor and worship with His Father without beginning and the Most Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

Prayers before teaching

Blessed Lord! Send down to us the grace of Your Holy Spirit, bestowing and strengthening our spiritual strength, so that the teaching that is attentively taught to us, we grow up to You, our Creator, to the glory, our parent for consolation, the Church and the fatherland for the benefit. Amen.

Prayer after teaching

We thank Thee, the Creator, as if Thou hast vouchsafed us Thy grace, in a hedgehog heed to teaching. Bless our bosses, parents and teachers who lead us to the knowledge of the good, and give us strength and strength to continue this teaching. Amen.

Prayer to the Savior for children who find it difficult to teach

Lord Jesus Christ, our God, truly dwelling in the hearts of the twelve apostles and by the power of the grace of the All-Holy Spirit, descended in the form of fiery tongues, and opened their mouths, so that they began to speak in other dialects! Lord Jesus Christ Himself, our God, send down that Holy Spirit of Yours on this child (name) and plant in his heart the Holy Scripture, which Your pure hand inscribed on the tablets of the legislator Moses, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayers for pride and vanity

"You, my Savior..."

You, my Savior, Who, out of obedience, for thirty years in Nazareth obeyed Your Mother, the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, and the guardian of Her virginity Joseph, and after entering into the work of Your great ministry, You were obedient to the will of Your Father even to death, the death of the cross, make me, according to Your example, obey You in everything to the leaders appointed over me and fulfill everything that You have led in the law and the Gospel, so that my whole life would be continuous obedience, which would make me a worthy partaker of Your grace in this life and glory to you in the life to come.

Prayer requests to the Savior St. Silouan of Athos

Lord, give me Your humble spirit, so that I do not lose Your grace and begin to weep for it, as Adam wept for Paradise and God. Lord, You are Merciful; tell me what must I do to humble my soul? Lord, vouchsafe us the gift of Your holy humility. Lord, grant us the gift of Your humble Holy Spirit, just as You came to save people and lift them up to heaven so that they may see Your glory. Most Holy Mother of the Lord, ask, Merciful, for us a humble spirit. All Saints, you live in heaven, and you see the glory of the Lord, and your spirit rejoices - pray that we also be with you.

Prayer to the Savior St. John of Kronstadt

Lord, do not let me dream of myself as if it were the best of any of the people, but think of it as the worst of all and do not condemn anyone, but judge myself strictly. Amen.

Holy Righteous John of Kronstadt

O great saint of Christ, holy righteous Father John of Kronstadt, wonderful shepherd, quick helper and merciful intercessor! Lifting up praise to the triune God, you prayerfully cried out: “Your name is Love: do not reject me who am mistaken. Your name is Strength: strengthen me, exhausted and falling. Your name is Light: enlighten my soul, darkened by worldly passions. Your name is Peace: die my restless soul. Your name is Mercy: do not stop being merciful to me. Now, grateful for your intercession, the All-Russian flock prays to you: Christ-named and righteous servant of God! With your love, illumine us, sinners and the weak, make us worthy of fruits of repentance and partake of the holy Mysteries of Christ without condemnation: strengthen your faith in us by your power, support in prayer, heal illnesses and diseases, deliver us from the misfortunes of enemies visible and invisible: with the light of the face of your servants and the primates of the altar of Christ to the holy feats of pastoral work, give upbringing as a baby, instruct youth, support old age, shrines of temples and holy cloisters, illumine: die, miracle worker and seer of the most wonderful, the peoples of our country, by the grace and gift of the Holy Spirit deliver from internecine warfare; Gather the dispersed, the deceived, convert and gather the holy councils and apostles of the Church: by your grace, observe marriage in peace and unanimity, give monastic prosperity and blessings in good deeds, cowardly comforts, those who suffer from unclean spirits of freedom, have mercy on all of us in needs and circumstances. guide the way of salvation: in the living Christ, our Father John, lead us to the non-evening light of eternal life, may we be blessed with you with eternal bliss, praising and exalting God forever and ever. Amen.

About the gift of repentance

Prayers are read in front of the icon of the Savior or in open space, in case of irritability in relation to others.

Lord, grant us to see our sins, so that our mind, drawn entirely to the attention of our own errors, ceases to see the errors of our neighbors, and thus sees all our neighbors as good. Grant our hearts to leave pernicious care for the shortcomings of their neighbor, to unite all their cares into one care for the acquisition of the purity and holiness commanded and prepared for us by You. Grant us, who have defiled the garments of the soul, to whiten them again: they have already been washed with the waters of baptism, now, after desecration, they need to be washed with tearful waters. Grant us to see, in the light of Thy grace, the manifold ailments living in us, destroying spiritual movements in the heart, introducing into it bloody and carnal movements, hostile to the Kingdom of God. Grant us the great gift of repentance, preceded and born by the great gift of seeing our sins. Protect us with these great gifts from the abysses of self-delusion, which opens in the soul from its unnoticed and incomprehensible sinfulness; is born from the action of voluptuousness and vanity, unnoticed and incomprehensible by it. Keep us with these great gifts on our way to You, and grant us to reach You, calling confessing sinners, and rejecting those who recognize themselves as righteous, may we praise You forever in eternal bliss, the One True God, the Redeemer of the captives, the Savior of the lost. Amen.

Psalm 56

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for my soul has hoped in Thee, and I hope in the shadow of Your wings, until iniquity passes away. I will call upon the Most High God, the God who has done good to me. Sent from Heaven and save me, giving as a reproach to those who trample me, God sent His mercy and His truth, and deliver my soul from the environment of the skimms. The messenger is confused, sons of mankind, the teeth of their weapons and arrows, and the tongue of their sword is sharp. Ascend to Heaven, O God, and throughout the earth Your glory. The net has prepared my feet and slushy my soul, digging a hole before my face and falling into a nude. My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready; I will sing and sing in my glory. Arise my glory, arise the psalter and the harp, I will rise early. Let us confess to You among the people, Lord, I will sing to You in the tongues, as if Your mercy is exalted to Heaven, and even to the clouds Your truth. Ascend to Heaven, O God, and throughout the earth Your glory.

In the passion of greed and money-grubbing

Prayer is read in front of the icon of the Savior or in an open space, when thoughts of prosperity overcome excessively. You can pray for yourself and for your neighbor, who does not feel the sin of acquisitiveness.

Prayer of St. Ignatia Bryanchaninova

Lord, You visit, receive sinners! And you raise the dead! And you command the waters of the sea, the winds of the sky! And miraculously loaves grow in Your hands, give a thousandfold harvest - they are sown, reaped, baked and broken at the same time, in one instant! And you are hungry to save us from hunger! And you long for our thirst to go away! And you travel through the country of our exile with the burden of Yourself in order to return to us the calm, sweet heavenly nature that we have lost! You shed Your sweat in the Garden of Gethsemane so that we stop shedding our sweat in earning bread, learn to shed it in prayers for a worthy communion of Heavenly Bread. The thorns grown for us by the accursed earth, You have taken on Your head; Thou hast crowned Thy holy head with thorns! We have lost the paradise tree of life and its fruit, which communicated immortality to those who eat it - You, stretched out on the tree of the cross, have become for us a fruit that gives eternal life to those who are partakers of Yours. Both the fruit of life and the tree of life appeared on earth, in the camp of our exile. This fruit and this tree are more excellent than those of Paradise: those communicated immortality, and these communicate immortality and Divinity. Through Your suffering You have poured sweetness into our suffering. We reject earthly pleasures, we choose suffering as our lot, if only to become partakers of Your sweetness! She, like a foretaste of eternal life, is sweeter and more precious than temporary life! You fell asleep as a mortal who could not keep You in eternal sleep, You - God! You rose up and gave us excitement from this dream, from the fierce sleep of death, gave us a blessed and glorious resurrection! You raised our renewed nature to heaven, planted it at the right hand of the eternal, Your co-eternal, Your Father! Our Lord! Grant us both on earth and in heaven to glorify, bless, praise Your goodness! Grant us with a frank face to see Thy terrible, impregnable, magnificent Glory, forever behold Her, worship Her and be blessed in Her. Amen.

In despair and despondency

"Lord Lord of heaven and earth..."

The prayer "Lord, Lord ..." in despair is read many times in front of the icon of the Savior, the Holy Trinity or in open space.

Sovereign Lord of heaven and earth, King of the ages! Kindly open the door of repentance for me, for in the sickness of my heart I pray to You, the true God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Light of the world: look at Your many blessings and accept my prayer; do not turn him away, but forgive me, who has fallen into many sins. For I seek rest and do not find it, because my conscience does not forgive me. I wait for peace, and there is no peace in me, because of the deep multitude of my iniquities. Hear, O Lord, me who is in despair. For I, deprived of any readiness and any thought to correct myself, fall down to Your mercies: have mercy on me, cast down to the ground and condemned for my sins. Turn, O Lord, my weeping into my joy; loosen my sackcloth and gird me with gladness. And be pleased that I may receive rest, as Thy chosen ones, Lord, from whom sickness, sorrow and sighing have fled, and may the door of Thy Kingdom be opened to me, so that, having entered with those who enjoy the light of Thy face, Lord, I may receive eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord . Amen.

Prayer for deliverance from despondency, St. John of Kronstadt

Prayer is performed before the icon of the Savior. You can pray in an open space.

The Lord is the destruction of my despondency and the reviving of my boldness. Everything for me is the Lord. O Lord, indeed, glory to Thee! Glory to Thee, Life of the Father, Life of the Son, Life of the Holy Soul - a Simple Being - God, who ever delivers us from spiritual death, caused by passions to our soul. Glory to Thee, Trinitarian Master, as if from one invocation of Thy name You enlighten the gloomy face of our soul and body and grant Thy peace, which surpasses all earthly and sensual goodness and all understanding.

Prayers before the icon of the Virgin "Unexpected Joy"

O Blessed Virgin, the All-Blessed Son of the All-Benevolent Mother, the Patroness of this city and holy temple, all those who are in sins, sorrows, troubles and illnesses, faithful to the Intercessor and Intercessor! Receive this prayer singing from us, Thy unworthy servants, lifted up to Thee, and like a sinner of old, praying many times before Thy honest icon every day, Thou hast not despised, but Thou hast given him the unexpected joy of repentance and bowed Thy Son to many and zealous to Him intercession for the forgiveness of this sinful and erring one, so now do not despise the prayers of us, Your unworthy servants, and implore Your Son and our God, and all of us with faith and tenderness bow before Your wholesome image, grant unexpected joy for everyone: a shepherd church - holy zeal for the salvation of the flock; for a sinner mired in the depths of evils and passions - all-powerful admonition, repentance and salvation; those who are in sorrow and sorrow - consolation; those found in troubles and bitterness - their complete exodus; faint-hearted and unreliable - hope and patience; in the joy and contentment of the living - incessant thanksgiving to the Benefactor of God; for the needy - mercy; those who are in illness and long-sickness and abandoned by doctors - unintentional healing and strengthening; who depended on the illness of the mind - the mind return and renewal; departing into eternal and never-ending life - the memory of death, tenderness and contrition for sins, a cheerful spirit and firm hope in God's mercy. O Holy Lady! Have mercy on all who honor Your all-honorable name, and reveal to all Your almighty cover and intercession; keep in piety, purity and honest living until their last end in goodness; do evil good; guide the wrongs on the right path; To every good work and to Your Son, please, advance; destroy every evil and ungodly deed; in bewilderment and difficult and dangerous circumstances, those who receive invisible help and admonition from heaven are sent down; save from temptations, temptations and death; protect and save from all evil people and from enemies visible and invisible; float floating; traveling travel; Be the Nourisher for those who are in need and gladness, Be the Cover and Refuge for those who do not have shelter and shelter; give a robe to the naked; offended and suffering from falsehood - intercession; slander, reproach and blasphemy of the sufferer invisibly justify; slanderers and detractors in front of all guise; fiercely hostile, inadvertently grant reconciliation, and all of us love each other, peace and piety and health with long life. Keep marriages in love and like-mindedness; spouses, in enmity and division of being, die, unite to each other and put them an indestructible union of love; mother, children giving birth, give permission soon; Raise babies, young ones be chaste, open your mind to the perception of any useful teaching, instruct the fear of God, abstinence and industriousness; From domestic strife and enmity of consanguineous people, protect the world and love. Motherless orphans wake up Mother, from all vice and filth I turn away and teach everything good and charitable; deceived and fallen into sin and impurity, having taken away the filth of sin, bring them out of the abyss of death. Wake up the widows Comforter and Helper, wake up the wand of old age. Deliver us all from sudden death without repentance, and to all of us the Christian death of our belly, painless, shameless, peaceful and kind answer at the terrible Judgment of Christ, grant those who repent in faith and repentance from this life with the angels and make all the saints live; who died a sudden death, be merciful to be Thy Son; for all the dead, who do not have relatives, for the repose of their Son of Thy begging, Be yourself an unceasing and warm Prayer and Intercessor; Yes, all in heaven and on earth lead Thee, as a firm and shameless Representative of the Christian race, glorify Thee and Thee, Thy Son with His Beginningless Father and His Consubstantial Spirit, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen.
