After the official announcement

On November 25, 2010, Warface was officially announced. The press release revealed that "Warface" is being developed by Crytek Seoul South Korea on the CryEngine3 game engine and is based on a completely new intellectual property (IP) from Crytek. It was stated that Warface would use a Free-to-play business model and microtransactions and target the Asian market, primarily China and South Korea.

On December 13, 2010, Crytek officially announced that it had established an agreement with Tencent, a major Chinese IT company, under which the latter received exclusive rights to publish, distribute and distribute Warface in China.

On the same day, December 13, the first trailer for Warface was published, showing the pre-alpha version of the game.

At the end of July 2011, Warface was demonstrated at the ChinaJoy 2011 Chinese gaming exhibition: new screenshots, real gameplay demonstrations were shown, and interviews were given by representatives of Crytek and Tencent.

On August 16, 2011, the release date for Warface in Western markets (USA and Europe) was officially announced - 2012.

On December 9, 2011, an exclusive preview of Warface was published on the [email protected] website, which is a division of the major Russian media portal Mail.Ru. According to the article, Crytek representatives themselves contacted Mail.Ru and suggested that its employees be the first in Russia to look at this project, the demonstration of which took place in Kyiv. As a result of the demonstration, the journalists wrote in the preview a lot of new, previously unknown information about the gameplay and setting of the game. Later, this game was played by a player with the nickname mr.zver named Alexey Ivanov. Mr. Zver was recognized as the best player in Warface for 2011 by the editors of GamesForSport in the nomination of the best shooter.

On December 16, 2011, it became known in an official press release that Crytek had signed an agreement with Mail.Ru Group, according to which the latter would publish Warface in Russia and the CIS countries. In addition to publishing, the task of Mail.Ru includes the complete localization of the game into Russian. Mail.Ru also announced the start of accepting applications for closed beta testing (CBT) of Warface.

On December 23, 2011, the acceptance of applications for participation in the PTA began, which began on March 1, 2012 and ended on April 2. On April 4, 2012, the test run of the open beta testing (abbr. OBT) began. MBT began on April 12, 2012.

In the KRI Awards, Warface was presented in several categories. Warface received the "Best Game of the KRI 2012" award. In addition, the game received the "Best Game Graphics" award. This is a very high rating for a game that is just getting started.

Gameplay

Game modes

There are 3 game modes available in the game: PvE and PvP, as well as Special Operations

Special Operations- the team passage mode of Special missions, in which up to 5 persons can take part.

  • "White Shark" ("Liquidation")- the Warface squad will storm a huge modern skyscraper consisting of 20 floors and kill the main target of the squad, one of the heads of Blackwood - Oberon White.
  • "Dangerous Experiment" (Zombie Mode)- the Warface squad will be abandoned in Europe, where the Blackwood laboratory, in which cyber-zombies were created, will be destroyed. For this purpose, they will be allocated an EMP Machine to help them, which must be escorted to the base, breaking through the crowds of advancing zombies. At the end of the mission, the lab will be taken out of action, but the EMP Machine will be destroyed by the giant zombie robot "Destroyer" that must be destroyed.
  • "Volcano"- the Warface squad will be sent to Africa, to square N26, where there is a large Blackwood research complex inside an active volcano, where, as they claim, they conduct research on hot springs. The squad will have to storm the laboratory, breaking through the ranks of Blackwood fighters, who are covered by automatic turrets, find out the true intentions of the enemy and destroy one of the heads of Blackwood - Ursula Ellis.
  • "Anubis"- the Warface squad will be sent to Africa, where they will have to prevent the launch of Blackwood missiles, destroy the submarine base and seize important data that will be laid out by one of the leaders of Blackwood - Oberon White. Then they will be transported to Egypt, to the legendary pyramid of Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of death and darkness, inside which they will find a cyber zombie factory similar to the one located in Europe, which must also be destroyed.
  • Black Shark- Oberon invests huge sums in a mysterious object in the Balkans. The Waraface squad goes there to find out what's what. The main task of the detachment is to install charges on each floor for the subsequent undermining of the building, simultaneously destroying the Blackwood fighters, automatic turrets and cyber zombies. In addition, it is necessary to extract data from machines in the internal network of the enemy.
  • "Icebreaker"- The Blackwood Corporation attacks the main Warface base in North America. The Warface squad must fight back against the enemy and prevent Oberon White from starting a new world war.
  • snow bastion- a series consisting of 3 special winter missions in Siberia. Also includes Marathon:
  • tip- you will need to infiltrate enemy territory, find equipment there that prevents satellites from exploring this region, and disable it.
  • Ambush complete- Blackwood squads will try to blow up the generators that provide the network and destroy our virus. It is necessary to take positions and protect the power sources, not allowing them to turn off.
  • Zenith- Having successfully dealt with the second line of defense, we finally discovered the fortress, which our enemy hid from satellite observation. It is necessary to penetrate there and destroy this stronghold of the enemy.
  • Marathon- accommodates all three tasks such as: Spearhead, Ambush and Zenith. Mostly completed in an hour and a half (90 minutes).

PvE- team passing missions, divided into 3 levels of difficulty: easy, hard and pro. There are 5 types of PvE:

  • Safari- following to the helicopter on fired from all directions transport;
  • Arena- defense at one point from advancing enemy units;
  • Convoy- escorting equipment to a safe point;
  • boss kill- the purpose of the mission is to kill the "Manned Combat Vehicle GROM", or the helicopter KA-50 "Black Shark". Also, all PvE maps are divided into 2 stages - this is the killing of the "Juggernaut" (mini-boss) at the first stage and the mission at the second.
  • In any mission, PvE can take from 3 to 5 people, according to the rules of the game.

PvP- game mode against each other. There are several types of fights here.

  • Team fight- standard mode for any online shooter. Your task is to destroy enemy soldiers. Choose one of the opposing sides - Warface or Blackwood - and go on the attack. The team that reaches a certain kill limit (for example, 150) wins, or gets the most kills in the allotted time.
  • capture- This mode is based on the game "Capture the Flag" in its classic form. The task of the attacking team in the "Conquest" mode is to get the missile launch codes and deliver them to a safe place. Defenders must defend the codes with all their might during the time allotted for the round.
  • Undermining- tactical mode borrowed from the popular game Counter-Strike. The task of the attacking team in the Demolition mode is to break through the enemy defenses and mine one of the two key points. In turn, the defenders should not allow the explosives to be planted or defuse them in time if the attackers still managed to plant the charge. To win the round, you need to either detonate / defuse the bomb, or completely eliminate the enemy team.
  • domination- a game mode where you need not only to shoot skillfully, but also to actively move. Your task is to capture and defend several key positions on the game map. It will be important to skillfully distribute your forces in order to simultaneously cope with the defense of existing points and manage to capture new ones. This mode is similar to one of the modes from Battlefield 4.
  • Meat grinder- Forget about team play and interaction - in the "Meat Grinder" mode, each soldier must stand up for himself. The one with the most points wins. After death, the player is respawned on the map in a random place, and can continue the battle.
  • Storm- The goal of one team is to capture the strongholds of the enemy, and the other, respectively, to hold them. There are three such points in total, you need to take possession of them sequentially. After the next conquest, the place of rebirth of the defenders is transferred to the next point, and the attackers go forward from their position. Teams change roles if all three control points are captured or the time allotted for the attack has expired.
  • Destruction- You can achieve victory in the "Destruction" mode if you land air strikes on enemy positions three times. To call in an airstrike, you must hold the control point located in the center of the map. If within 120 seconds from the start of the battle no team has started capturing the point, the match will automatically end in defeat.
  • Survival- a game mode where you need to kill opponents, remaining as long as possible unnoticed. Forget about team play and interaction - in this mode, each soldier must stand up for himself. The task of all players is to destroy as many opponents as possible and not let them kill themselves. Each killed fighter drops one token highlighted in red, collecting which you can get additional points. But remember, a token left by someone can be bait! Be careful!

Ranked pvp games

Matches are played in Demolition mode between teams of five players each. The search for ranked games can be carried out both alone and with friends or clanmates.

  • At the moment, the system includes 21 leagues. Initially, the player is in the most recent 21 leagues. To advance to a higher league, you need to earn several points (one for each victory) within the current league. When losing, the player moves back towards the minor league. With a series of defeats, a "departure" to the league with a lower level is possible. For a series of victories, starting from the third, a bonus point is awarded for each victory, these bonuses work until the fifth league is received. There can be an unlimited number of people in one league, that is, the players will not force each other out, no matter how many there are. You can view your league or progress on the rating scale in the Ranked PvP tab.
  • Members of different leagues can play together - in this case, the search will be carried out in accordance with the highest rank within the group. A player's rank in ranked matches does not affect matchmaking in Quick Match.
  • Participants who decide to leave the match before its completion receive a penalty of 30 minutes of playing time. While the penalty is active, the player will not be able to take part in matches. This measure was taken to eliminate spontaneous exit from the room before the end of the match, which would give the opposing team an advantage to some extent.
  • Ranked games are currently available for players of rank 26 and above.

Development history

Before the official announcement

The development of "Warface" started no later than November 2008, the main developer is the Ukrainian branch of Crytek - Crytek Kiev. However, this information became known to the general public only in August 2011, after the official announcement of the game.

On February 25, 2009, Crytek trademarked "Warface" in the "entertainment", "computer games" and "software" categories.

On March 3, 2009, the general public became aware of the registration of several trademarks and logos, including Warface. Neither Crytek nor Electronic Arts (Crytek's publishing partner at the time) made any comments on press inquiries.

In early April 2009, it became known to the public that Crytek had registered three more new trademarks, among which "GFACE" was present. Journalists at IGN.com speculated that the trademark might be related to "Warface". Later, in 2011, it became known that "Gface" is the name of the social network developed by Crytek, and has nothing to do with "Warface".

At the very end of January 2010, it became known to the gaming press that Nikita Burov, who at the time of publication of this information worked as a level designer at Ubisoft, from November 2008 to July 2009 worked at Crytek Kiev on an unannounced multiplayer online first-person shooter (MMOFPS) developed exclusively for PC under new intellectual property. Burov published this information on his LinkedIn profile. Crytek has not commented on this information.

After the official announcement

On November 25, 2010, the official announcement of "Warface" took place. The genre of the game became known - MMOFPS, the concept of the game, its developers and target platforms were revealed, and the first screenshots were published. The press release revealed that "Warface" is being developed by Crytek Seoul on the CryEngine 3 game engine and is based on an all-new intellectual property (IP) from Crytek. It was stated that "Warface" will use a Free-to-play business model and microtransactions and is aimed at the Asian market, primarily China and South Korea.

On December 13, 2010, Crytek officially announced that it had entered into an agreement with Tencent, a large Chinese IT company, under which the latter received exclusive rights to publish, distribute and distribute "Warface" in China.

At the end of July 2011, "Warface" was demonstrated at the Chinese game exhibition ChinaJoy 2011: new screenshots were shown, demonstrations of real gameplay, and interviews were given by representatives of Crytek and Tencent.

On August 16, 2011, the release date for Warface in Western markets (USA and Europe) was officially announced - 2012. It was also announced that Crytek's Ukrainian subsidiary, Crytek Kiev, is the main developer of the game, while the Seoul and Frankfurt main offices provide development assistance.

On December 9, 2011, an exclusive preview of "Warface" was published on the [email protected] website, which is a division of the major Russian media portal Mail.Ru. According to the article, Crytek representatives themselves contacted Mail.Ru and suggested that its employees be the first in Russia to look at this project, the demonstration of which took place in Kyiv. The demonstration of the game in the Kiev office was conducted by Mikhail Khaimzon, Crytek veteran, creative director of Crytek Kiev and the main ideologist of Warface. As a result of the demonstration, the journalists wrote in the preview a lot of new, previously unknown information about the gameplay and setting of the game.

On December 16, 2011, it became known in an official press release that Crytek had signed an agreement with Mail.Ru Group, according to which the latter would publish Warface in Russia and the CIS countries. In addition to publishing, the task of Mail.Ru includes the complete localization of the game into Russian. Mail.Ru also announced the start of accepting applications for Warface closed beta testing.

On December 23, 2011, applications for participation in the closed beta test began, which began on March 1, 2012 and ended on April 2. On April 4, 2012, a test launch of the MBT began. Open beta testing began on April 12, 2012.

Warface became a real star of the conference - it was presented in several categories at the KRI Awards. Warface received the "Best Game of the KRI 2012" award. In addition, he received the award for "Best Game Graphics". This is a very high rating for a game that is just getting started.

Gameplay

Game modes

The game has 2 game modes: PVE and PVP.

PVE - a mode of team passing missions, divided into 3 levels of difficulty: easy, difficult and pro. There are 4 types of PVE:

  1. safari - following to the helicopter, simultaneously destroying enemies;
  2. arena - defense at one point from advancing enemy units;
  3. convoy - escorting equipment to a safe point;
  4. killing the boss - the goal of the mission is to kill the GROM PBM or the Ka-50 helicopter.

Also, all PVE maps are divided into 2 stages - this is killing the Juggernaut (you can kill him if you shoot in the back for a long time) at the first stage and completing the mission at the second. In this mode, 4, 5 people can take part. At the end of the day, players who take the first 10,000 places in the daily ranking receive "crowns", for which you can buy the best weapons and equipment for 1 or 7 days.

PVP - game mode against each other. In all rooms, you can start if at least 4 people are in the room, that is, a 2v2 game. A maximum of 16 people can fit in a room. That is, the game is 8x8 .. There are several types of battles here: meat grinder, capture, storm, team fight, undermining and destruction.

AT grinder every man for himself. The game ends when 10 minutes have passed, or when the limit is reached: 300 kills.

AT capture one team must capture the missile launch codes and bring them to the base, while the other must protect them. At the end of the time in the round, victory is on the side of the defenders.

AT assault after capturing the first three command posts (CP), the teams change sides: the team that previously captured the CP, now it protects them, and those who defended the CP must capture them. The team that manages to defend more CPs, then capture the CP as quickly as possible, or that captures the CP quickly, then defends as many CPs as possible, wins.

AT team battle 2 teams fight each other, constantly resurrecting after each death. The team with the most kills after the time runs out wins. Restrictions: 10 minutes or 150 kills.

AT undermining one team must plant and detonate the bomb, while the other must prevent it. The planted bomb explodes in a minute. The engineer will clear the bomb after 3 seconds, the rest of the classes - after 8. After the time in the round, the victory is on the side of the defenders.

AT destruction both teams try to activate the transmitter, after which points up to 1000 will be added towards one of the teams. At about 333 and 666 points, an air strike occurs: one of the two key points of the enemy is destroyed. The winner is the team that scored 1000 points by destroying all the key points of the enemy, or reached the kill limit.

Cards

In PVP mode, a wide selection of maps for different types of battles. Team battle: "Hangar", "Farm" and "Village". Sturm: "Black Gold" and "Hills". Undermining: "Flyover", "Lane" and "Bridges". And many others.

  • For PVE missions, the maps are regularly updated at 04:00 Moscow time. If you enter 10 thousand players, you are given a certain number of "Crowns" in the rating - this is a special game currency.

Classes

Stormtrooper

The main weapons are assault rifles and machine guns (in PVP, it can pick up weapons of other classes, such as a sniper rifle). It is ideal for close, medium and long range combat. Mostly tanking. A unique feature of the attack aircraft is the ability to replenish your own ammunition and the ammunition of your comrades on the battlefield.

Medic

The job of a doctor is to save lives. Arsenal - a first aid kit that can be used to heal wounded comrades, and a defibrillator that brings dead soldiers back to life. The help of this class is necessary for any detachment, and especially for defending a position. A skilled medic will be able to maintain the combat readiness of his comrades for a very, very long time - if he himself remains alive, of course. Skillful doctors in the game are "torn off with their hands." Medical weapons are shotguns. This is an ideal tool for close range combat, losing its advantage with increasing distance. But the defibrillator tends to discharge - in order to "resuscitate" (reanimate) a friend, the defibrillator must be fully charged (100%). According to professionals, the medic is one of the most important characters in the team.

Engineer

The engineer is a specialist in close combat and sabotage. His arsenal is submachine guns, they have a higher rate of fire than assault rifles, but much less damage, great for fast-paced fights at short distances. In addition, the engineer has anti-personnel mines in his arsenal that react to the movement of an enemy fighter and inflict huge damage. Also, engineers can repair their armor and the armor of their comrades in case of damage. They also plant and clear bombs faster than other classes on demolition maps.

Sniper

The sniper does not have such features as, for example, the replenishment of ammunition for an attack aircraft, but this is the only fighter that can hit enemies at a great distance. Therefore, its main task is the timely detection and destruction of the most dangerous targets, for example, enemy snipers, heavy infantrymen, machine gunners, shield bearers, and grenade launchers (PVE). It can have two types of sniper rifles - semi-automatic (they have less damage, but they have a high rate of fire to compensate for this) and bolt-action (high damage, but very low speed, so far there are not many of them, for example: "Alpine" after each shot you have to twitch the shutter, but lethal power allows you to kill the enemy with one shot if he is not wearing special bulletproof vests) ("bolt-action rifles").

Reviews and ratings of the game

  • Playground gave it an 8.6/10 rating, noting the large number of cards; interesting PvE modes; exciting story missions; four classes of heroes; nice visual performance; excellent musical accompaniment, but highlighting from the minuses “... the arsenal could be a little more diverse; I would like to see more story missions."

What is Warface?

Warface is a multiplayer online shooter that is presented from the first person. This game is based on the Cry Engine 3 game engine and is designed for PC and Xbox 360. Many novice players are wondering what Warface is and how to play it.

The history of the creation of the game

Warface is the development of Crytek, which involved the Ukrainian branch of Crytek Kiev, the South Korean side of Crytek Seoul and the main office located in Frankfurt am Main during the creation. The development of the game began in 2008, and the general public learned about it only in 2011 during the official presentation of the game. Initially, the game was designed for the Asian market, but with increased demand, the creators decided to re-release it for players from Europe and North America. This event took place in 2012.

Parties in the game

Warface is a computer game that is a shooting game. All actions in the game take place in 2023. It is worth noting that the game is possible both in the form of a PvP battle and a PvE team mission. There are two sides to Warface:

  • blackwood - an organization of terrorists that illegally trades in weapons, spreads a corruption network; engaged in the destruction of civilians;
  • warface - an opposing squad engaged in the release of objects around the world, which received an order - to stop the terrorists at all costs. Interestingly, the clothing of this unit resembles the uniform of the US Marines.

Gameplay Features

The game is provided in two modes: PvE and PvP.

PvE

This mode allows players to create teams and complete the selected mission together. Each mission has three difficulty levels: Easy, Hard and Professional. The game features 5 types of PvE:

  • safari. Here, the participants must get to the helicopter, the situation is complicated by shelling from all sides;
  • arena. In this situation, the action of the game is concentrated at one point, which must be defended from approaching terrorists;
  • convoy. The Warface squad must escort vehicles to a safe area;
  • boss kill. The main goal of this type is the destruction of the "GROM Manned Fighting Vehicle" (or in another way the KA-50 helicopter).
  • liquidation. "Warface" receives a new task - the assault on a huge twenty-story skyscraper and the destruction of the leader of "Blackwood" - Oberon White. The mode is called "White Shark".

Each mission of this mode can be attended by 4 - 5 people, depending on the conditions of the mission.

PvP

PvP is a game mode where participants compete with each other. In this case, the following types of battles are presented:

  • meat grinder. This mode is a classic "Death Match", where the players appear randomly;
  • team fight. This uses "Team Death Match" and the players spawn together;
  • storm. Players must hold a certain position. This battle is interesting because the map is divided into three parts, and you can play by choosing one of them. The transition to the next part is carried out by capturing the previous one.
  • capture. In this case, the teams take turns trying to capture the territory, where one team advances, and the second takes a defensive position;
  • undermining. The same technique is used in the game CS. The main task for the first team is to plant the bomb, and for the other team it is to prevent this installation;
  • destruction. This mode involves the destruction of the enemy base. If the enemy has blown up the base three times, he automatically wins.

By the way, the game also includes a battle of clans. If you want to try yourself in this battle, change the room mode from "Normal" to "Clash of Clans". Only members of certain clans can take part in such a game.

1 In this short article we will touch on Internet slang, or rather, we will try to decipher an unusual abbreviation that not everyone understands, this is GG VP.
However, before continuing, I would like to recommend you some new publications on the topic gaming slang. For example, who is Demag Dealer, what does Double Line mean, how to understand the word Grifer, what does the term Grena mean, etc.
So, what does GG VP mean ask many inquisitive users? This abbreviation was borrowed from English GGWP, and stands for " good game, well played", which can be translated as "good game, well played".
This abbreviation is usually used at the end of the rink, or when the arena fights, GvG, PVP, and many other similar events end.

GG VP(GG WP) - this is an abbreviation for "good game, well played", which translates as "great game, well played"

What does GGWP mean? You have probably noticed more than once that after the end of the game, lines with the letters "GG" or "GG VP" begin to run quickly in the chat, as it is customary to write after any successful battle, respectfully emphasizing the leveling of heroes and the skill of gamers. Particularly polite players can even write to the opposite team in this way, if they fought to the conscience.

Of course, for many noobs, the question arises, in what cases to use "GG WP"?

So, there are several main criteria when you can say "GG VP":

First criterion. It is used in the case when the battle is fought almost on an equal footing, and the winner is determined only at the very end. And the whole battle goes on with varying degrees of success, and it is impossible to say for sure who will win.

Second criterion. When the enemy is obviously weak, but despite his disadvantageous position, he fights to the very end. And although the trend is already clear, but using its clear organization and competent strategy, it makes top players strain their convolutions. It is in this case that a strong opponent writes to the team that made him nervous GG WP, as if in a sign of respect.

Third criterion. If a gamer was able to learn something new in this game, then he writes GG VP, as if thanks for the help.

This abbreviation is used by both sides, both the winning and the losing team. This abbreviation usually they write in a general chat, but sometimes they even send it to a personal mailbox.
Since this term is borrowed from the English language, it is clear that it is mainly used by English-speaking people, that is, in Western Europe and the USA, in Russia they usually say "thanks for the game." Quite often, the word " Easy", and some have a question, what does GG VP Easy mean? The word Easy was borrowed from the English language " easy", and translates as "easy".
