At the same time, the drug can be used for the vast majority of patients, since it has a minimum of contraindications and practically does not cause unwanted reactions of the body.

The drug has been used in medical practice for over three decades, but despite this, it remains in demand to this day.

Indications for use

What helps Pharyngosept:

  • Has a bacteriostatic effect in the area of inflammation
  • Reduces the intensity or completely eliminates the discomfort of a sore throat
  • Removes perspiration
  • Improves breathing, helping with cough (with tonsillitis and other respiratory system lesions)

Lozenges are intended for therapy in adult patients. Also actively appointed in children's practice with:

  • Acute forms of diseases of the mucous tissues of the oral cavity, nasopharynx (tonsillitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, stomatitis, etc.).
  • Prevention of infections after the operation to remove the tonsils, teeth.

The composition of the drug

The manufacturer has provided other types of lollipops with different flavors: mint, lemon, cocoa, cinnamon. The type of tablets may differ depending on the components present that provide a certain taste and smell.

Other pharmaceutical forms (aerosol, spray) are absent.

Medicinal properties

The drug is included in the group of antiseptic medications used to treat diseases of the oropharynx, oral mucosa. The action of medicines of this type is aimed at suppressing the infection in the early stages of the disease, preventing its further intensification and spread, facilitating breathing and eliminating sore throat.

The therapeutic efficacy of Pharyngosept is due to the properties of its main component, Ambizon. The substance is characterized by a bacteriostatic effect on pathogenic microorganisms, i.e., it suppresses the possibility of their reproduction by penetrating into the structure of the pathogen shell and destroying it.

To date, such drugs are preferred in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases, because, unlike antibiotics, they cause much less adverse reactions, since they almost do not penetrate into the general circulatory system, but act only in the area of inflammation. Antibiotics act many times more aggressively: they affect the state of the whole organism, suppressing not only pathogenic microorganisms, but also beneficial microflora. In addition, antiseptics do not cause addiction and adaptability of bacteria, while resistance to antibiotics can develop.

Therefore, drugs such as Faringosept are used to suppress pathogens in the early stages, and antimicrobials are used at more severe, advanced stages, when antiseptics are already powerless.

The active ingredient Faringosept inhibits the activity of streptococci and pneumococci, the culprits of respiratory pathologies in the upper respiratory system.

Instructions for use: method and dosage of drugs

The dosage of Pharyngosept should be prescribed by the doctor in accordance with the severity of the disease in the patient, with self-administration, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions for the use of tablets.

According to the manufacturer's recommendations, you need to dissolve the product 15-30 minutes after eating, and after that do not drink or eat anything for 2-3 hours. Scheme for adults: up to 4-5 tablets at regular intervals throughout the day, for children - 3 pcs. Take 3-4 days. If during this time the medication has not had the desired effect, then the treatment regimen should be reviewed.

Pharyngosept for children

Pharyngosept is a popular treatment for pharyngitis in children, since its active substance has a pronounced bacteriostatic effect against streptococcus and other pathogens of the upper respiratory tract.

Plus, Faringosept, destroying pathogenic organisms, does not affect the intestinal microflora of the child.

When using the drug in pediatrics, it is necessary to observe restrictions, to understand from what age it is safe to treat a child with this remedy. The developers of the drug advise giving it to children only from the age of 3, since for babies of a more tender age, this method of application is not only not suitable, but can also be dangerous. Firstly, children do not have the ability to suck pills, and therefore they can choke, and secondly, the effect of the drug for this category of patients has not been studied enough.

The dosage and duration of administration should be determined by the attending physician. If there are no individual prescriptions, then the drug is given according to the scheme proposed by the manufacturer - 3 pieces per day at regular intervals. The term of admission is 3-4 days. Tablets are supposed to be given half an hour after eating, and after resorption, you should not drink or eat for at least two hours (preferably three) in order to achieve the maximum result of therapy.

For children after 7 years, the amount of the drug can be increased to 5 lozenges per day.

If, after the end of the course of therapy, Pharyngosept did not work, then it is not worth prolonging the period of admission on your own, and even more so, increasing the amount of the drug. The medicine must be canceled and the child should be shown to the pediatrician.

Pharyngosept with laryngitis

In case of inflammation of the mucous tissues of the throat, the drug can be prescribed as an antiseptic agent to suppress pathogens - staphylococci, streptococci and pneumococci. In addition to suppressing the activity of pathogenic flora, the tablets help to moisturize the inflamed areas, irritating the receptors of the salivary glands and thereby forcing them to increase fluid production. As a result, the tissues are moistened, discomfort disappears, sore throat is relieved.

Combination with alcohol

The accompanying recommendation for use does not say anything about the peculiarities of taking alcoholic beverages or drugs with ethanol. Meanwhile, the absence of mention of the combination by some patients can be interpreted as permission to take funds with ethyl alcohol along with Pharyngosept. But is it really so?

Faringosept is an anesthetic, but with not the most powerful effect. Therefore, it is used in the initial stages of diseases of the throat and oral cavity or a mild form of pathology. Therefore, with severe inflammation, Pharyngosept monotherapy will not have the desired effect. In this case, the success of therapy is possible only in combination with other drugs.

Taking any amount of alcohol during an illness burdens the body and negatively affects the immune system. As a result, the development of complications is possible, and further deterioration of the course of the disease and, accordingly, the appointment of serious antibiotics.

Therefore, it is highly undesirable to use alcohol during an illness.

During pregnancy and lactation

According to available data, when using Faringosept by pregnant women, there are no side effects and no harmful effects on the development of the fetus. However, like any remedy, it is highly undesirable for expectant mothers to take the drug on their own, without the knowledge of a doctor. Suckling tablets may be used if the doctor deems them necessary and safe.

It is undesirable for lactating women to use lozenges from the throat, since it is not yet known whether the active substance penetrates into milk; and you can give medicine to children from the age of 3.

Special Notes

A significant part of the active substance of the drug is excreted from the body by the kidneys. Therefore, if the patient has any diseases of the organ, then the possibility of taking Faringosept is determined by the attending doctor.

The drug should not be taken if the patient has a tendency to allergic reactions or sensitivity to the components contained, as well as poor lactose / sucrose tolerance.

The use of the drug in high dosages does not enhance the therapeutic effect.

If, after using Faringosept, the therapeutic effect is weak, the temperature rises, the head starts to hurt, or other undesirable conditions appear, then the tablets should be canceled and the doctor should be consulted.

The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or moving mechanisms, since it does not affect alertness and reaction speed.

Contraindications and precautions

Pharyngosept is one of the few medicines with a very high level of safety used for local therapy of the oropharynx. The drug has a minimum of contraindications and side effects. It acts gently during therapy, is well accepted by the vast majority of patients and, as a rule, does not cause deterioration in health. However, the drug may be contraindicated in some patients.

The use of Faringospet is prohibited when:

  • The presence of hypersensitivity to ambazon or auxiliary components that form the structure of the drug
  • Children under 3 years of age (due to the inability of the child to dissolve the medicine)
  • Diabetes
  • The patient has a congenital lack of lactose or sucrose, fructose / galactose intolerance, an existing GH malabsorption syndrome (a disorder in the absorption of monosaccharides in VT).

Cross-drug interactions

Treatment with tablets can be combined in therapy with other medications, since no clinically significant interactions with other drugs have been identified.

Side effects

After the use of sucking lozenges Faringosept, side effects practically do not occur. However, undesirable conditions cannot be completely ruled out, which, although rare, can still occur during therapy. Usually manifested in the form of allergic phenomena, which can manifest themselves in a mild or more complex form.

Most often, after taking Faringosept, reactions of individual hypersensitivity occur (Quincke's edema is not excluded), skin rash, urticaria, facial redness, swelling, itching.

If these or other symptoms appear after taking the tablets, the drug should be discontinued and contact your doctor.

Overdose

For the entire period of Faringosept's use, no cases of dangerous intoxication were observed. Taking a large amount of a local antiseptic can provoke disturbances in the functioning of the digestive organs, as well as cause side effects in an enhanced form. If this happens, then the victim needs to wash the stomach and give activated charcoal. From further reception of Faringosept it is necessary to refuse before visiting the doctor. For more serious conditions, seek professional help immediately.

Pharmachologic effect:

Ambazon is a local antiseptic with a very high activity against pathogenic microorganisms that often cause infections of the upper respiratory tract and oral cavity: streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci. It has a strong bacteriostatic effect on pneumococci and streptococci, as well as a moderate anti-staphylococcal property. Can be used as monotherapy in the local treatment of common mild oropharyngeal infections. This helps to avoid the use of systemic antimicrobial chemotherapy drugs. As a result, the possibility of developing resistance of microorganisms to these drugs can be avoided.

In addition, sucking tablets increase salivation and, by moisturizing the mucous membrane, reduce irritation. The main property of the drug is the release of natural bactericidal substances of the body, which contributes to the rapid elimination of the disease. It does not affect the intestinal microflora, therefore, it does not cause dysbiosis of the digestive tract even with prolonged use.

general information

    Sales form:

The Indian drug pharyngosept (active ingredient ambazon) is an antiseptic drug that has a local antimicrobial effect and is used in symptomatic (aimed at eliminating the signs of the disease, and not its cause) treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oropharynx. The drug exhibits bacteriostatic activity (suppresses the growth and development of microorganisms) against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus viridans, Streptococcus haemolyticus, Pneumococcus.

The main task of an antiseptic is to create unfavorable conditions for the existence of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microflora. To date, antiseptics are used in the form of solutions for irrigation and for washing wounds, lotions, powders, ointments, etc. These substances penetrate into the bacterial cell, have a detrimental effect on its contents, while changing the environment (for example, acidity), as a result of which the microorganism loses its ability to grow and multiply. After the advent of antiseptics, antibiotics and sulfonamides, mortality from infectious diseases decreased by several orders of magnitude. Currently, there are about 2000 antibiotics, among which about 50 are actively used in clinical practice. But since the middle of the last century, cases of resistance of bacterial microflora to this class of drugs have been noted, while over time this process becomes more and more threatening. In this regard, today, when choosing a drug, much attention is paid to the current degree of its effectiveness and safety profile. It should be noted that the modern view on the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx involves the increasing involvement of topical drugs in the therapeutic process instead of systemic drugs.

One of the most deeply studied local antiseptics is ambazon (pharyngosept). This drug was synthesized in 1955. Subsequent studies have confirmed its effectiveness against bacteria that most often cause infections at the level of the oropharynx. It is noteworthy that pharyngosept does not provoke any symptoms of dysbacteriosis in the digestive tract. Over the years of using the drug in Russia (and this is almost 30 years), not a single clinically significant side effect has been identified. Faringosept does not enter into drug interactions with other drugs taken simultaneously, which is also a definite plus in its pharmacological "summary". Given that pharyngosept is a pioneer among sublingual antiseptics, it may be perceived by some consumers and even specialists as not quite modern. However, several studies have shown that the drug is still relevant today. So, in 1987, it was once again demonstrated that pharyngosept has a well-adapted antibacterial spectrum of action against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms. In addition, its high antimycotic activity against the fungus Candida albicans, which acquires pronounced pathogenic features under adverse conditions, was shown.

The composition of pharyngosept, in addition to, in fact, ambazone, includes cocoa powder, known not only for its taste, but also for its softening effect, eliminating dryness and sore throat. And if you remember that cocoa contains flavonoids that protect the body from free radicals, then the appropriateness of the presence of this substance in the preparation will not be in any doubt. It should be noted that pharyngosept contains sucrose, so patients with diabetes should take the drug with caution.
