Pharmacodynamics

Means that improves microcirculation; combines the properties of theophylline and nicotinic acid. It causes expansion of peripheral vessels, improves collateral circulation, improves microcirculation, improves oxygenation and tissue nutrition. It has an antiplatelet effect, activates the processes of fibrinolysis, improves cerebral circulation, reduces blood viscosity.

Enhances oxidative phosphorylation and ATP synthesis. By blocking adenosine receptors and PDE, it increases the content of cAMP in the cell, stimulates the synthesis of NAD and NADP as a substrate.

By reducing OPSS and increasing myocardial contractions, it helps to increase the minute volume of blood and increase cerebral circulation, and reduces the severity of the consequences of cerebral hypoxia.

It causes a nicotine-like syndrome, accompanied by hyperesthesia of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and mouth: it exacerbates olfactory and taste sensitivity. In this regard, the smell and taste offered during the nicotine-like reaction of alcoholic beverages and dishes is perceived as sharper and more unpleasant.

With prolonged use, it has an anti-atherosclerotic effect, activates the processes of fibrinolysis, reduces the concentration of cholesterol and atherogenic lipids, increases the activity of lipoprotein lipase, reduces blood viscosity, and reduces platelet aggregation.

Side effects

From the side of the cardiovascular system: a decrease in blood pressure, a transient feeling of warmth, redness of the skin is possible.

From the digestive system: rarely - nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, gastralgia; with prolonged use in high doses, an increase in the level of transaminases and alkaline phosphatase is possible.

Other: weakness, dizziness; with prolonged use in high doses, a change in glucose tolerance, an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood serum is possible.

It is mainly used to dilate blood vessels. Also, its active substances help improve blood circulation in the brain. After taking this medicine, the patient's heart rate increases significantly, and the metabolic process in the brain tissues improves. Before using the drug, you must carefully read the instructions for use, study the properties , side effects and contraindications for use.

Pharmacological group of the substance Xanthinol nicotinate:

  • antiplatelet agents;
  • vasodilators;
  • angioprotectors and microcirculation correctors;
  • nicotinates;
  • correctors of disorders of cerebral circulation.

Pharmacokinetics

Due to the fact that this drug is available in the form of a solution, it is characterized by the speed of action. After an injection of Xanthinol, nicotinate is absorbed into the digestive tract in a short period of time and is distributed in equal proportions to all organs and tissues. The process of theophylline metabolism is carried out directly in the liver, with the help of urine 5-20% of methylxanthine derivatives are excreted.

Xanthinol nicotinate is separated in the body, forming xanthinol and nicotinic acid. In smokers and people with chronic alcoholism, the half-life of T1 / 2 is significantly shortened. A similar process occurs if a person takes carbamazepine, barbiturate, rifampicin. In the process of taking cimetidine, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin and oral contraceptives, as well as with cirrhosis of the liver and heart failure, the half-life of T1 / 2 increases. These changes are of great clinical importance, since theophylline is characterized by a small breadth of therapeutic effects. It has a bronchodilatory effect in the event that the concentration of blood plasma is 10-20 mg / l. But at such a concentration, there is a high probability of side effects that increase in complete dependence on the values of blood plasma.

Indications for use

Xanthinol nicotinate should be used only on the advice of a doctor.

The drug is prescribed for use if the patient has the following conditions:

  • symptoms of thrombophlebitis;
  • atherosclerosis of the lower extremities ;
  • the period after surgery on the brain;
  • headaches, migraines;
  • vascular atherosclerosis;
  • Raynaud's disease;
  • the presence of thrombosis of varying severity;

  • Meniere's disease;
  • signs of diabetic angiopathy;
  • the formation of ulcers on the legs;
  • the process of detachment of the retina of the eyeball;
  • vascular disease of the eye.

It must be remembered that self-medication is strictly prohibited. Each disease requires a specific treatment prescribed by a qualified specialist. The doctor will determine the required dosage of the drug and the duration of the course of treatment, in accordance with the characteristics of the course of the disease and the instructions for using Xanthinol nicotinate .

Contraindications

The solution can be administered only under the supervision of the attending physician. Xanthinol nicotinate is prescribed for people suffering from severe circulatory disorders. In this case, 2 ml of the drug is prescribed for therapy twice a day intravenously. After some time, the doctor may prescribe the administration of the drug intramuscularly. Patients are injected with 2 ml of solution 3 times a day. Also, in order to speed up recovery, the doctor can prescribe Xanthinol nicotinate in the form of tablets - such a complex treatment will achieve the best result. For therapy, 2 tablets are prescribed three times a day.

In cases where the disease is already advanced and is in a severe stage, the patient is prescribed Xanthinol nicotinate injections by intravenous drip method. With this method of drug administration, the dosage will be 10 ml. A dropper is usually placed for 3-4 hours. In the presence of severe complications, the drug is administered 4 times a day. The duration of the course of treatment with this medicine is determined by the attending physician. Most often, the course does not exceed 21 days.

People suffering from impaired blood supply to the tissues are prescribed 2 ml of the drug three times a day. A feature of this therapy is that the dosage is gradually increased to a maximum value of 6 ml. It is important that the patient at the time of treatment was under the supervision of the attending physician. The duration of such treatment is about 3 weeks.

Also, Xanthinol nicotinate is actively used in ophthalmology. The drug is used in complex therapy by iontophoresis. The most optimal dosage is 300 mg of the drug per day. The duration of the first procedure should not exceed 15 minutes. After each procedure, the time increases. By the end of the course, it can reach up to half an hour. The full course of treatment should not exceed 20 days.

xanthinol nicotinate side effects

  • From the side of the cardiovascular system: a decrease in blood pressure, dizziness, a feeling of heat, redness of the skin is possible. From the digestive system: nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, gastralgia, abdominal pain, epigastric pain. From the nervous system: headache. Allergic reactions: pruritus, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic shock. Other: weakness, chills, tingling of the skin, especially in the head and neck. These symptoms usually disappear after 10-20 minutes, do not require special treatment and stop using this drug. When using nicotinic acid preparations, a false increase in the concentration of catecholamines in the blood plasma and urine may be noted, and a false positive result of determining glucose in the urine using the Benedict test may also be noted. With long-term administration in high doses, the drug causes a change in glucose tolerance, an increase in the activity of "liver" transaminases (ACT, ALT) in the blood serum, an increase in the activity of alkaline phosphatase in the blood serum, an increase in the content of uric acid in the blood serum. If you experience undesirable effects that are not described in this leaflet, and increase the above side effects during therapy with this drug, you should immediately inform your doctor.

drug interaction

In order to avoid a sharp decrease in blood pressure, the drug should not be used simultaneously with antihypertensive drugs, including (beta-blockers, alpha-blockers, ganglion blockers). Do not use simultaneously with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and strophanthin. The simultaneous use of nicotinic acid preparations in combination with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) may increase the risk of developing myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. The simultaneous use of alcohol may increase the severity of the side effects of xanthinol nicotinate (feeling hot, redness of the skin).

Overdose

The drug has low toxicity. Acute overdose of xanthinol nicotinate is accompanied by arterial hypotension, general weakness, dizziness, tachycardia, abdominal pain and vomiting. If symptoms of an overdose appear, symptomatic therapy is prescribed.
