Klion D vaginal tablets are used as a means of prevention, to eliminate residual inflammatory effects, and to treat gardnerellosis.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Klion D suppositories are prohibited for use during pregnancy. One of the active ingredients of the drug, metronidazole, is a toxic compound. It penetrates into the blood and other biological environments, producing a teratogenic effect. It is especially dangerous to use this medicine in the first trimester, when the neural tube is forming and the internal organs of the fetus are being formed. The consequence can be serious neurological disorders in the born child. If the onset of conception was detected after the appointment of Klion D, the course is immediately interrupted.

During pregnancy in the second and third trimester, the gynecologist can give permission to use Klion D in exceptional situations when the mother’s health is in serious danger.

During breastfeeding, the use of the drug is also contraindicated, since metronidazole easily passes into milk and can cause poisoning in the child.

Can it be used during menstruation?

During menstruation, the use of any topical medications is considered undesirable. A large amount of mucus, blood and endometrium leaving the uterine cavity makes inserting the pill into the vagina useless. The drug will slip out immediately, without having time to dissolve, or will flow out along with the secretions. It is also risky to take Klion D during menstruation because of possible irritation of the mucous membranes, which become much more sensitive during this period. It is recommended to interrupt local therapy during regulation and pre-calculate the course to avoid coincidences. Until the end of menstruation, it is recommended to use oral medications.

In cases of acute disease, the doctor may recommend using Klion D suppositories during scanty periods to avoid a subsequent surge in inflammation. This issue is resolved individually at the next consultation.

Klion D is unable to cause a delay in menstruation. If this happens, the cause may be an infectious disease against which the suppositories were used. It is possible to interrupt the course of treatment in the event of an unexpected failure without permission only if you suspect pregnancy.

Directions for use and doses

Klion D suppositories should be placed deep into the vagina. For ease of use of this drug, finger guards are included in the package. It is better to put suppositories at night. The horizontal position of the body will allow the medicine to remain inside longer.

For one course you should use 7 suppositories, administering them daily. In case of complicated infection, treatment is extended to 14 days.

Any methods of use other than intravaginal are prohibited. Suppositories should not be swallowed or placed into the anus.

Side effect

A few hours after the introduction of suppositories, white oily discharge from the vagina is possible. These are the remains of the base of the drug. To avoid staining your underwear, it is recommended to wear sanitary pads. You should not douche during the course.

The drug is well tolerated by most patients, but individual reactions of the body are likely.

Possible side effects of Klion D:
