Parmelia lichen: medicinal properties, how to brew, places of growth, description. Parmelia: uses and contraindications

Parmelia is an herb from childhood.

Recently I became very ill - cough, weakness... A friend gave me herbs, describing it as practically a panacea, but I had never heard of it. When I looked at it at home, I was very surprised. This is the grass from my childhood!

Every spring, before Easter, all the village children ran to the steppe and collected these light green petal-colored specks lying on almost bare ground, from which the snow had recently melted. And at home, my mother painted Easter eggs in a decoction of this lichen; they were incredibly beautiful, but no one knew that this was a useful herb for healing.

Lichen parmelia widely used by steppe inhabitants in folk medicine under the name of cut grass.

Parmelia decoction has an astringent, bactericidal, antiseptic, hemostatic and good wound healing effect.

Internal use of parmelia decoction gives good results for various gastrointestinal diseases, diarrhea and stomach ulcers.

The literature describes a rapid cure for acute colitis only when taking lichen decoction three times over two days.

An interesting case was the treatment of a one and a half year old child with a decoction of parmelia, who was in an extremely serious condition (the last stage of toxic dyspepsia). The father gave the child a teaspoon of lichen decoction 3 times a day. The child quickly stopped vomiting, and four days later he was practically healthy.

Parmelia decoction with milk and cream was used by the population of Kazakhstan for pulmonary tuberculosis.

There is information that parmelia was also used for pulmonary tuberculosis by residents of the lower Volga.

Externally, a decoction of parmelia is used in the form of rinses and compresses for purulent wounds and ulcers.

Wounds and ulcers are cleared of pus and heal fairly quickly. This indicates the good bactericidal property of lichen, which depends on the presence of special lichen acids in it.

During the Great Patriotic War, doctor G. Sviridov successfully used Vaseline paste with powder to treat the wounded parmelia lichen.

Lichen shoots are collected during the summer.

This remedy is not used in official medicine, but is widely used in folk medicine. One of the names of lichen is cut grass, as it has excellent hemostatic and healing properties. The composition of lichen has been poorly studied, but it is known that it contains the gelatinous substance lichenin, which has a nutritional value for diarrhea and an emollient for respiratory diseases.

A decoction of lichen has astringent, bactericidal, antiseptic, hemostatic and healing properties.

During the war, it was successfully used to wash purulent wounds.

It is used internally for various gastrointestinal diseases, stomach ulcers, and diarrhea.

I use lichen decoction as a good immunostimulant and cough remedy.

We learned about this plant in a course at 4 universities. After my illness, my boyfriend could not get rid of his cough. Pills and antibiotics did not help. Then our teacher advised us to make a decoction of Parmelia lichen. A doctor he knew recommended this recipe to him to treat his wife.

After pneumonia, she developed a residual cough and had it for almost a year.

Lichen helped completely get rid of cough.

Then we also took the advice and made a decoction. And he really helped. The cough went away after just a week of use.

And now I will write you the correct recipe for preparing the decoction, since it is incorrect in books with medicinal plants.

There it is suggested to cook the lichen for an hour over a fire. That is, at 100 degrees Celsius. And this is absolutely impossible to do!

At 100 rub. Lichenin simply decomposes, and there will actually be no benefit from such a decoction.

You need to prepare the decoction in a water bath.

For those who don’t know: water is poured into a saucepan, and a smaller saucepan is placed inside, in which the broth will be prepared. Thus, the lichen will not be cooked over an open fire, but by boiling water in a large saucepan.

Then the temperature will not be 100C, but about 90.

Coldness, numbness of the limbs, even the tongue, nausea, dry mouth, “lump” in the throat, pain in the neck, heart, dizziness, intolerance to movement, occasional darkness in the eyes, retardation of thoughts and speech, severe hair loss. Tests: TSH - 8.5, T4f. – 1.13 (0.93-1.7), T3sv – 3.08 (2.0-4.4).

Ultrasound: the thyroid gland is not enlarged, echogenicity is reduced, the structure is heterogeneous: hypo- and hyperechoic areas, multiple lymph nodes from 3 to 5 mm of inflammatory origin. The volume of the gland is 6.78 cm3, the right lobe is 3.31, the left is 3.48.

Among the associated diseases: congenital additional large chord in the heart, chronic gastritis with high acidity, gastroptosis, reflux, cholangitis, chronic cystitis, cervical osteochondrosis, large, long-standing lipoma on the thigh.

Hello Tamara!

Unfortunately, we have not received a single letter from you. We answer all incoming letters, without exception.

I sympathize with you, but I still don’t understand how, without iodine and thyroxine, TSH could drop from 28 to 5? Some are not enough. Subsequently, through your experiments with Red Brush and Gorse, you overdosed and entered a state of hyperthyroidism. Coma is generally a loss of consciousness. If you lost consciousness, it was most likely fainting due to anemia. Now you have returned to the state of subclinical hypothyroidism.

But, unfortunately, we drove our thyroid gland to a dead end. The volume has decreased, and the hormones are very unstable. Perhaps there are problems with regulation at the level of the hypothalamus-pituitary gland - TSH does not always correspond to T4 and T3. And one more thing - you, of course, need iodine, but how much and what kind?

If you are categorically against thyroxine, try herbs again. They contain both iodides and diiodotyrosine. The reaction to Gorse was strong. If the dose was high, say, a tablespoon per glass, try it again - at a smaller dose. If you are intolerant, you should replace it with Icelandic Cetraria or Parmelia - 1 tbsp. to the collection

1. Cyclodinone. Drink 30 drops in the morning, during meals. The course is 1.5-2 months.

1 tsp crushed herbs, pour 300.0 ml of boiling water, leave for 2 hours and strain. Drink 100.0 ml 3 times a day, half an hour before meals. After every month of use, a break is taken - 10 days, with hormones being monitored.

Grind the grass and fruits evenly to 2-3 mm, the roots to 3-5 mm - first mechanically to small pieces, then using a coffee grinder; mix evenly.

Take herbs without a dose indicated in tablespoons.

1 tbsp. pour 300.0 ml of cold drinking water over the mixture for an hour, then bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat or boiling water bath, covered, for 15 minutes.

Cool, strain, squeeze and add to 300.0 ml.

Drink 100.0 ml three times a day, 30 minutes before meals. Course - 2 months. Control of TSH, free T4 and total T3 - after 3 weeks; UAC - in 2 weeks.

Iron (firritin was 13, increased to 40) Chaga (infused in a thermos, drank 1 glass on an empty stomach 2-3 times a day)

Vanadium + chromium 1 mg and 200 mcg

I followed the autoimmune protocol for 3 weeks, then switched to a paleo diet. I excluded sugar, dairy, gluten, all grains, spices (I haven’t eaten for a couple of years because of bloating). I haven’t eaten red meat for 5-7 years. I eat chicken, turkey, and lard in winter. Previously, I didn’t like bitter things and black pepper made me bloated. Now I eat it with pleasure, but mostly bitter ground red pepper. I occasionally drink green and jasmine tea. I don't drink coffee or alcohol.

History of development

In July-August, at the very beginning of the spotting, I took a mixture of Chamomile Mint Valerian, so my periods began within 3-5 days with a decrease in pain and without delays. When urinating and defecating, the pain, chills, and diarrhea stopped. Exhaustion and drowsiness disappeared after taking iron. I used to make candles with honey, now Sashera honey - for endometriosis, with Chaga, with chanterelle. 10 days immediately after the end of menstruation. The cycle has become regular - they arrive on the 1st.

Evening primrose oil 3900 mg (3 tablets daily with food)

Hello!

You, Olya, generally give preference to dietary supplements and are treated according to regimens recommended by network doctors, apparently. Don’t neglect the advice of herbalists, and you will see improvements! But there are also misconceptions. One of them is giving up red meat. But it is precisely this kind of meat that helps increase hemoglobin, and sometimes ferritin.

The second and main misconception is that adaptogens are not allowed because of AIT.

I won’t argue; you yourself should read the theory of the Russian scientist Lazarev about the Nonspecific Resistance of the Body. And do not confuse Echinacea purpurea, which is prohibited for rheumatic diseases, with adaptogens - Ginseng, Rhodiola rosea, Red brush, Eleutherococcus senticosus, Maral root; etc.

In almost all systemic autoimmune diseases (glomerulonephritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, scleroderma), adaptogens prolong people’s lives. AIT has never been classified as a systemic autoimmune disease. Moreover, your antibody level is low and is associated with pus in the throat. Treat your throat with gargles with Calendula, Sage; streptococcal bacteriophage.

Here's another misconception. You are afraid of mushrooms, but you drink Chaga. You can use the entire spectrum of mushrooms, especially Reishi Mushroom. Common cocklebur, Euphorbia pallas and Gorse are absolutely harmless if the recipe is followed exactly. Now you don’t need them, in my opinion. You can move on to Euphorbia pallas tincture after finishing taking Indole.

Or use a topical tincture now.

But the main factor in your health, after all, is nutrition and lifestyle.

You want to sleep because you are an owl; either your ferritin has dropped, or your antibodies to TPO have increased.

We need to clarify this and continue to improve our health by choosing our main mentor.

Good luck, Olga, and all the best!

11/15/16 Alexander

Hello!

I would like to consult you about recipes for some herbs.

Hello!

I hope, Alexander, you will allow me to take care of you? Then, without further ado, I inform you that we can completely cure sinusitis (not with the first herb, of course); that mitral valve prolapse is not dangerous to your health; that antibiotics are used ONLY for clear indications. Read a few words about - below. And I will also say that the general and thoughtless use of antibiotics leads to their complete ineffectiveness. ALL microorganisms are endowed and protected by a resistance mechanism. And herbs, by the way, you mention them, do NOT activate these mechanisms, being as effective as antibiotics or superior to them. And, in addition to herbs, all natural remedies too. We won't go far. These are propolis, stone oil, mumiyo; Cetraria, Parmelia, Usnea. They can be used as much as you like, for a long time, without fear of suppressing your intestinal immunity. Which algae representatives are stronger? Those in which the proportion of iodine is higher.

So, here is your scheme for the first 1-1.5 months with an emphasis on myocardial restoration.

You definitely need to start with ATP injections. They will quickly normalize the rhythm and help eliminate “scars”. It must be administered intramuscularly, 1.0 ml for 21 days. Simultaneously:

Add 25 drops to each portion of herbal infusion. Monitor your blood pressure.

2. Collecting herbs for drinking.

Grind the grass evenly to about 3 mm, the fruits to 4-5 mm, mix evenly.

1 tbsp. pour 300.0 ml of cold drinking water over the mixture for an hour, then bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat or boiling water bath, covered, for 15 minutes. Remove and leave for an hour. Strain, squeeze, add to 300.0 ml. Drink 100.0 ml 3 times a day, before meals, in small sips. Course - 1.5 months.

3. Locally.

Start by rinsing your nose and rinsing with a warm 2% baking soda solution.

And then I will give special recipes. Just follow the rinsing technique - a syringe with a nozzle, a volume of liquid of at least 10.0 ml in each nostril.

Dissolve solid propolis, no more than 3.0 grams per day, dividing the ball into 3 parts.

4. Here is the correct recipe for Greater Celandine tincture. But I don't think you need it now.

2.0 g of dry herb pour 100.0 ml of 60% alcohol, leave for 7 days, strain and drink 10-12 drops 3 times a day, before meals, in 1 tbsp. water. The course is 1 month, break 14 days, and repeat if necessary. Celandine is moderately poisonous, follow the recipe and method of use exactly!

And after taking tests in April 2013 (TSH result - 4.74 (N = up to 4); T4 light - 1.21 T3 light - 4.43) at 2 years and 5 months they began to take L thyroxine, dose 25 mcg. Accepted up to 4 years. Neurological problems were not resolved by taking the hormone. And for some reason they decided not to take the hormone until 5 years and 2 months. But during the period of non-admission it became even worse: existing problems worsened and behavioral problems appeared - grimaces, verbal aggression.

His somatic diseases are: hypermetropia, left eye +6.5 - +7.5, right eye +3.5 - +4.5. sand in the kidneys, underdevelopment of the coccyx, partial underdevelopment of the medial spheres of the cerebellum, more on the left.

He responds well to nootropic drugs. Picamilon stops nocturnal enuresis. From Pantogam emotional condition and stuttering improve significantly. Glycine and Lecithin significantly reduce movement disorders. But it is valid for the duration of reception.

Tell me herbs, first of all, for subclinical hypothyroidism. Antithyroglobulin and Anti-TPO antibodies are normal.

I, too, have now identified subclinical hypothyroidism T4 fw - 1, TSH - 4.22 (N = up to 4). I started taking Endorm - herbal extracts from cinquefoil, kelp, and licorice. T4 sv increased to 1.13, TSH – 3.01. Herbs give results. But this medicine is from 12 years old.

What do you advise a child with hypothyroidism and neurology? Thanks in advance for your answer!

Hello, Lena!

1 tsp pour 100.0 ml of cold drinking water over the mixture for an hour, then bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat or boiling water bath, covered, for 15 minutes. Remove and leave for an hour. Strain, squeeze, add to 100.0 ml. Drink 20.0 ml in the morning and 15.0 ml 3 times a day, before meals, in small sips. The collection is done for 2 days. Course - 1.5 months.

Default quantities are in tablespoons.

Please keep me posted, Lena. GOOD LUCK! See you in touch!

Hello, dear Yulia Evgenievna!

I was incredibly happy when I found your site completely by accident. I realized that you are simply doing ascetic work. Low bow to you and your assistants from all those suffering who, for various reasons, could not find help from official medicine.

I am 46 years old. Height - 170 cm, weight - 64 kg.

An examination in July 2016 showed: adenomyosis, decreased ovarian reserve, follicular cyst of the left ovary. Expert ultrasound on the 5th day of the cycle: the uterus is spherical, the contours are clear, even; dimensions: longitudinal - 68 mm, anteroposterior - 68 mm, transverse - 66 mm. The echostructure of the myometrium is diffusely heterogeneous, due to alternating areas of increased and decreased echogenicity. There is asymmetry of the walls: the thickness of the rear wall is 13 mm, the front wall is 40 mm. Endometrium (M-echo) – 6 mm, homogeneous structure. Neck: length - 40 mm, thickness - 30 mm, regular shape. Echostructure: multiple endocervical cysts. Right ovary: in a typical place, regular shape, dimensions - 41x29x33 mm, volume - 21 cm/3. Echostructure: two antral follicles with a diameter of 22 and 20 mm. Left ovary: in a typical place, regular shape, dimensions - 39x23x26 mm, volume - 14 cm/3. Echostructure: represented by a liquid formation 30x25 mm, the follicular apparatus is absent. Free fluid in the pelvis: no.

Conclusion: the follicular reserve in the ovaries (reference values no. 6-20 follicles) is reduced (less than 6), signs of adenomyosis, left ovarian cyst (follicular).

I had a mammogram last October. On mammograms the glands are of regular shape and symmetrical. Skin and subcutaneous fat without features. Matrix pattern with a predominance of glandular and fibrous components, density about 50% - type 2. There is a moderate fibrocystic type of structure of both glands. No shadows of altered lymph nodes or microcalcifications were detected.

They also offer me several treatment options for giving up pregnancy: 1) a special uterine device plus smearing hormones into the skin of the shoulder, the result: the absence of menstruation, but the effect of their presence on the body; 2) hormone replacement therapy with phytoestrogens, result: unstable, but still present menstruation; 3) constant hormone replacement therapy with tablets, result: return of rejuvenation to 2-3 years ago with restoration of a regular cycle.

I would like to note that I do not have any other chronic diseases; I suffered from pneumonia in childhood and chickenpox in adulthood; I have not had any venereal diseases or abdominal surgeries. Now I feel generally good. The lower abdomen is slightly enlarged, general activity is slightly reduced.

Dear Yulia Evgenievna! Help, please, we know that everything is in God’s hands... With respect and gratitude.

Hello!

There is a lot of work here, Sveta. And the main one is with my husband. If he is your age, even more so. He needs to start with an andrologist. There are new methods, including hardware ones; I will give herbs; and you organize a special ration for your husband)) And all this can give an increase in sperm from zero to several individuals. To conceive in the usual way, sperm must flow out in a stream! And a few, hard-earned ones, will have to be replanted. You, Sveta, are quite fine and the follicles were dominant, not antral - 22 mm, although there was no ovulation. Let's start getting you organized:

Pour 100.0 grams of root crushed to a grain into 0.5 liters of vodka, leave for 14 days in a dark, cool place, shaking occasionally, strain and squeeze. Drink 25-30 drops 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals. The course is 30 days, a break of 7 days, and the course is repeated. Conduct at least 2 courses.

Grind the orchis roots mechanically, mix with Fenugreek seeds 1:1, grind with a coffee grinder to a coarse powder.

1 tsp pour 200.0 ml of drinking water into the mixture and leave, stirring, until thickened. Drink 100.0 ml twice a day, before or instead of meals. Course - 1.5 months.

Grind the grass evenly to 2-3 mm, the roots and fruits to 3-5 mm, mix evenly.

1 tbsp. pour 300.0 ml of cold drinking water over the mixture for an hour, then bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat or boiling water bath, covered, for 15 minutes. 5 minutes before the end, throw in 1 tsp. ginger root powder and 2 black peppercorns. Remove and leave for an hour. Strain, squeeze, add to 300.0 ml. Drink 100.0 ml 3 times a day, before meals, in small sips. Course - 1.5 months.

Default quantities are in tablespoons.

3. Nutrition.

There is a lot of red meat. Literally rare steaks, grilled meat, kebab; tomatoes, sour cream, plenty of seasonings: pepper, black caraway seeds, knotweed, mustard, horseradish; fish milk, caviar, seafood; walnuts and pine nuts, honey, goat milk.

This is work for the first 1.5-2 months, Sveta, and summing up intermediate results - control of testosterone, FSH, LH.

GOOD LUCK! Good mood to all project participants!

See you later, dear Sveta.

09/05/16 Lyudmila

About myself: 53 years old. Height - 164 cm, weight - 65 kg.

Subsequently, one small cyst formed in my right breast, I began to see a mammologist - I did an ultrasound and MMG, the current diagnosis is: fibrocystic mastopathy. I removed the polyp, but it is growing again.

I went to the endocrinologist, took tests (I don’t have them), the doctor said everything was fine, the thyroid gland was normal. Based on hormones, I predicted that perhaps menopause would occur in 2 years. But 5 years have passed and there is no menopause. My periods have always been good, without any particular pain, on schedule, very rarely there have been failures for 2-3 days, and now they go without problems (not heavy).

In recent months, I noticed an increase in fibroids (to the touch), went to the gynecologist, did another ultrasound: the body of the uterus is length - 97, width - 120, anterior-posterior size - 90 mm. The shape of the uterus is deformed, the myometrium is heterogeneous, myomatous nodes are determined on the anterior wall - 56x52 mm, on the rear - 60x57 mm. The cavity is closed, M-echo - 6.7 mm, phase 1, cycle day 8, curved shape, homogeneous structure.

The cervix is without any features. The right ovary is located typically, dimensions - 20x21x23 mm, pathological formation - two anechoic inclusions, 15 mm and 12 mm.

The left ovary is displaced centrally, the pathological formation looks like an anechoic formation 64x70 mm, with septations, without blood flow.

Hello, Lyudmila!

The root of the problem is hormonal imbalance. Judging by the number of follicles, you are far from menopause, the issue is apparently a progesterone deficiency, some kind of long-term debilitating stress, perhaps a lipid metabolism disorder. After all, sex hormones “come” from cholesterol. If you have already made a “purchase”, let’s give these herbs a go, but ask about hormones (see below). I am sure that the uterus should remain in its original place. Moreover, if there were no tumors in your family on the female line.

1 tbsp. crushed mushroom, pour 700.0 ml of water, simmer over low heat for 60 minutes. Strain. Drink 200.0 ml 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals. The course is 1.5-2 months.

Grind the entire Burdock plant in a meat grinder, add vodka 1:1, leave in a cold place for 5 days, drink 1 tsp. 4 times a day, before meals. The course is 1.5-2 months.

1 tbsp. pour 400.0 ml of water into the mixture, bring to a boil, simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, leave for 30-40 minutes. Strain, squeeze, add to 400.0 ml.

For irrigation, 150.0 ml of warm solution is required. Douche according to all the rules, filling a 200.0 ml syringe or rubber bulb with the solution. Lie down in the bath with your legs over the side (in the posture of a woman in labor), and inject the solution in portions, holding each portion for 2-3 minutes. At the end of the procedure, generously soak a cotton-gauze swab with the same composition. Place the tampon overnight.

Irrigation is done from the first day after menstruation, 12-14 times in a row.

Your hormones and other tests:

1. On any day of the cycle (d.c.) - blood is donated for TSH and free T4.

2. 3-5 d.c. - blood is donated for prolactin and estradiol.

3. From 21-23 b.c. look at progesterone and testosterone.

4. Blood lipids, ultrasound of the liver and biliary tract; blood, biochemistry.

5. Ca 125, Ca 19-9.

I don’t say goodbye yet, Lyudmila. Please contact us based on the survey results. GOOD LUCK!

Among the many traditional medicines, a herb called parmelia has found its use in the treatment of diseases accompanied by cough. Otherwise it is called cut grass, as well as sweet grass.

Healing properties of the herb

Parmelia is widely used by herbalists in the treatment of infectious coughs, including tuberculosis. There are several species of this plant, but only Parmelia furrow has healing properties. It grows on tree trunks and branches, on mountain slopes, and stones. This lichen resembles gray-green plates 3–5 cm high.

The thallus of the herb is used for medicinal purposes. It has the following properties:

  • antibacterial;
  • expectorant;
  • antiseptic;
  • sedative.

Parmelia has a unique composition, due to which it is used to treat cough caused by infection. Taking remedies based on this herb can also relieve residual cough that occurs after pneumonia. Therefore, it is advisable to include it in the complex treatment of inflammatory diseases accompanied by cough.

The thallus of the plant contains auric acid. It is a powerful natural antibiotic and can even destroy tuberculosis bacteria. In addition, this medicinal plant is characterized by a high content of vitamin C. A study of its chemical composition revealed the presence of barbate, fumarprocetraric and squamatic acids.

Their combination can suppress the growth of staphylococcal infections.

Parmelia or sweet grass will help cope with coughs due to bronchitis, both old and new. It is also used to treat pneumonia. The patient may feel relief after the first day of use.

If you start taking medications based on this medicinal plant in a timely manner when bronchitis begins, you can get rid of the disease within a week. Due to the vitamin C content in the herb, taking it has a beneficial effect on the patient’s immune system.

Parmelia – a powerful natural plant antibiotic

Herbalists recommend that people suffering from chronic bronchitis be treated with parmelia decoction in courses of 1 month, repeating it 3 times one after the other. In the future, prophylaxis is carried out once a year for 1 month. Parmelia, although it has healing properties, has contraindications for use.

They are as follows:

  • high blood pressure;
  • children under 6 years of age;
  • pregnancy;
  • breastfeeding period;
  • individual intolerance.

The herb is harvested for medicinal purposes in the spring, closer to May. Dry future medicinal raw materials in a well-ventilated place. If everything was done correctly, it will be stored for 3 years. At the same time, its healing properties and biological activity are not lost.

Properly prepared raw materials can be distinguished by the absence of odor and bitter taste; it will still burn a little.

Recipes that have proven their effectiveness

The effectiveness of treating cough with parmelia depends on the cause of the disease and the severity of its course. Compliance with the technology of its preparation and storage is important. So, to prepare the decoction, it is recommended to use a steam bath.
