MOSCOW PROSTHETIC REHABILITATION CENTER

The Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Center in Moscow has been engaged in lower limb prosthetics for the last ten years. The REC produces a wide range of modern modular prostheses using high-tech modules from the Icelandic company Ossur and the German Otto Bock. In addition, the center’s specialists use well-proven modules from the Russian company Metiz to produce low-cost prosthetics. These manufacturers are constantly improving their technology, both in terms of functionality, durability and practicality of artificial modules, and in terms of their design.

In an effort to maximize the quality of life of people who, for one reason or another, are forced to use prosthetic and orthopedic products, manufacturers are improving materials from year to year and expanding the range of components and structural elements. Thanks to this, qualified prosthetists at our center can assemble a convenient module in a fairly short time, taking into account all the individual characteristics of the patient. The latter include the type and level of amputation, medical indications, condition of the stump, the patient’s age, degree of activity, nature of activities, personal wishes and financial capabilities.

Individual approach

The variety of designs allows you to make the ideal prosthesis for everyday life, work or active sports. Each patient is assigned a qualified, experienced prosthetist who works with him at all stages of prosthetics: from creating an impression and psychological preparation to full rehabilitation.

Types of prostheses

ROC specialists can produce the most modern bionic prostheses, equipped with a microprocessor, which learn as they are used and provide the most natural gait. Such prostheses use the most modern modules.

The self-learning knee module is so smart that it learns continuously and independently adapts to the individual and its environment. RHEO KNEE® uses advanced sensor technology (load cells) to take measurements 1000 times per second. RHEO KNEE® learns your walking style, recognizing and immediately responding to the slightest changes in speed, load and terrain.

The world's first foot to use artificial intelligence - providing the tibia amputee with functional benefits that are unparalleled. Automatic ankle flexion means functionality is as close to that of a healthy human foot as possible today. This device thinks for itself, reacting to changes in terrain and approaching steps and slopes. The result is a more balanced and symmetrical gait that keeps the whole body healthy.

Symbionic Leg

The Symbionic Leg is the first fully bionic leg. Using integrated power and control of the foot and adaptive knee from a single microprocessor, the Symbionic Leg provides unrivaled benefits for above-knee amputees. Actively lifting your feet while walking minimizes the risk of falling. The automatic terrain adaptation system adjusts the angle of the foot depending on the steepness of the slope, creating better contact with the ground and optimal movement of the knee module on ascents and descents. By adjusting the heel height, the user can wear shoes with different heel heights or walk barefoot without compromising their gait.

A prosthesis is an individual product; the selection of components and production of the prosthesis occurs individually for each patient.

Cost of a full course of prosthetics

The cost of low-cost prostheses using mechanical modules starts from 100,000 rubles. up to 200,000 rub.

The cost of prostheses for patients with a high degree of activity, with the possibility of playing sports, using hydraulic or pneumatic knee modules and foot modules with a high level of energy return, made of carbon fiber, starts from 200,000 rubles. up to 750,000 rub.

The cost of bionic prostheses starts from RUB 1,000,000. up to 3,000,000 rub.

It is very important to adjust to an active lifestyle in the first days after amputation. This primarily applies to people of working age.

On the second or third day after surgery, it is advisable to start getting up and sitting down. First, with outside help and using walkers and crutches with emphasis on the forearm. It is not recommended to use axillary crutches, as they cause chronic trauma to nerves and blood vessels.

During the rehabilitation period, the patient must follow recommendations for caring for the postoperative suture, forming a stump, maintaining joint mobility and strengthening the remaining muscles.

The postoperative suture is monitored by medical personnel. The patient must carefully follow the instructions of the attending physician, especially for patients with vascular pathology and diabetes mellitus.

After amputation, the skin on the stump has increased sensitivity. You can reduce sensitivity with massage. You can massage the stump with a soft brush, a massage ball, and rub the stump with a hard towel or terry cloth washcloth. Massage must be carried out from the distal (lower) end of the stump to its base. Intensive training of the distal end of the stump on the support is not recommended - it may cause harm to the patient.

To prepare the stump for prosthetics, it is necessary, as soon as the attending physician allows, to begin bandaging the stump with an elastic bandage from the distal end in a spiral to the base of the stump. Apply the bandage in the morning and remove it in the evening before going to bed. If pain occurs, the bandage should be immediately removed and reapplied. The pressure should be maximum (but without pain) in the distal part and decrease towards the base of the stump.

The main indications for contacting a dental prosthetist are the loss of one, several or all teeth, destruction of the dental crown or mobility of the dentition.

In this article we will talk about the most important clinics where dentures are made. You will also learn what orthopedic services are currently available and how to make an appointment.

Orthopedic dentistry services

  • Dental restoration with microprostheses (crowns, inlays, veneers, lumineers, bridges);
  • restoration of the integrity of the dentition using removable and conditionally removable dentures (nylon, acrylic, clasp, etc.);
  • prosthetics on implants and pins;
  • strengthening the dentition in advanced forms of periodontitis (splinting);
  • children's prosthetics (for congenital adentia or premature loss of baby teeth).

The diagnostics that need to be completed before dentures include an orthopantomogram (panoramic photo of the jaws), as well as taking dental impressions to make a custom prosthesis.

Prosthetics is a medical manipulation with the inclusion of an orthopedist and a prosthetist in the process. Today it is performed in specialized medical institutions - prosthetics and orthopedics centers.

Types of prosthetics and orthopedics centers

There are several main types of prosthetics and orthopedics centers in Russia:

1. Government institutions - such centers exist in almost all large cities and regional centers. They are financed from the state budget. Therefore, for the corresponding preferential categories of patients, there is the possibility of free prosthetics at the expense of the state. To improve competitive opportunities, state prosthetics and orthopedics centers cooperate with large concerns that produce prosthetics. This gives a wide selection of products and their subsequent warranty or post-warranty service. So, most government centers began to cooperate with the German concern OTTO BOCK using C-Leg knee modules in prosthetics.

2. Private medical institutions - operate at clinics in large cities of Russia. All services regarding prosthetics are paid, but there is a guarantee regarding the quality of the products. Such centers cooperate with most manufacturing companies. Their representatives take part in the prosthetics process.

3. Prosthetic and orthopedic centers at research institutes - engaged in atypical prosthetics and the scientific development of new prostheses. They exist only in a few large cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg). These centers are partially funded by the state budget and offer free prosthetics.

Criteria for choosing a prosthetics and orthopedics center

The choice of center for prosthetics is made by the patient himself, who is guided by certain criteria, these include:

1. Possibility of paying for prosthetics services - if it is possible to fully pay for the installation of a prosthesis, then it is preferable to choose a private prosthetics and orthopedics center, where it is possible to perform all stages of prosthetics from amputation of a limb to training in the use of the installed prosthesis. Private centers involve orthopedic doctors of the highest category, specialist prosthetists and representatives of the manufacturer. This gives good continuity in performing all stages of prosthetics. In the future, warranty and post-warranty service is provided.
