The division underground achievement. Tom Clancy's The Division - Supplement "Underground"

Coming next week, Underground is the first paid add-on for The Division. How can Ubisoft Reflections convince players who are familiar with the state of affairs in the game to spend more money on the expansion? What awaits the special squad agents underground? Let's figure it out now.

The plot outline of the “Underground” add-on is as follows: somewhere in the dungeons of New York there is a secret base of a criminal group responsible for several attacks. The task of the special squad agents is to eliminate the threat.

In addition, agents will have a new base - the Terminal - where the usual foreman, merchants and liaison officers will be present in the Base of Operations. It is with the help of the Terminal that you can go to the dungeons.

The underground is a rather monotonous place, so the developers used a trick well-known in RPGs - the underground levels of The Division, available in the add-on, will be generated automatically, each new level will be different from the previous one.

New dangers will also appear: the inhabitants of the dungeons have abundantly equipped them with a variety of traps; so far we know about chemical, electrical, exploding and blinding “gifts”. In addition to man-made obstacles, agents may also encounter “natural” obstacles: sagging electrical wires, flammable oil stains, flaming gas pipes - sometimes they will have to look for a way to remove the obstacle rather than bypass it.

It is worth especially noting the technical innovations in service with the underground inhabitants. Numerous motion sensors will target agents with several enemy squads at once, and special emitters can make it impossible to use skills or distort the game interface.

Several types of new tasks with variable difficulty levels will appear underground: the player will be able to “attach” certain modifiers to the task, making it more difficult to complete and increasing the reward. All this will be possible thanks to a new currency called “directive data”.

The following types of tasks will be available in the add-on:

  • Unplanned goals: eliminating a group of opponents
  • Surgical strike: you need to eliminate several bandit leaders, preventing them from taking refuge in the tunnels again
  • Search for a report: you need to find out what happened to the missing allied squad and obtain intelligence information
  • Warehouse: destroying the enemy warehouse
  • Missing patrol: you need to find out where one of Captain Benitez's groups disappeared to
  • Important infrastructure: sabotage of one of the infrastructure facilities must be prevented

For each task, you can choose the following modifiers that change its difficulty:

  • Difficulty: Heroic mode will be added to the difficulty levels we already know
  • Phases: how many tasks will need to be completed during the operation
  • Fog of War: The map and markers will not work during the mission
  • It's hit or miss: limited number of cartridges; they cannot be collected from killed opponents
  • Disease: Agent's health gradually decreases
  • Mastery: after using any skill, both available skills are reset (start to fill from scratch), after using a signature skill, all available skills of the group are reset
  • Special forces: militants will be armed with incendiary and explosive cartridges

The Division: Underground expansion will be released on Xbox One on June 28, PC and PlayStation 4 owners will have to wait until August 2.

Today, June 28, players on Xbox One and PC will receive the “Underground” add-on for the online RPG Tom Clancy’s The Division (PlayStation 4 will not see it until August 2), and update 1.3 will also be released. It's now possible to explore the underground world of Manhattan alone or in co-op mode, supporting up to 4 players.

Added a new invasion - "Dragon's Nest". You have to make a foray into Hell's Kitchen, where, according to rumors, the cleaners are storing a powerful new weapon that threatens all of Manhattan. Four new sets of equipment and 9 new types of weapons have been introduced.

Added Challenge difficulty to two new main missions: Hudson Yards Refugee Camp and Queens Tunnel Camp. There is a terminal - a new common area at the base of operations. You can now recalibrate one of your weapon talents at the recalibration station.

The size of the player's stash has been increased, with a total of 70 slots now available (including base of operations upgrades). Reduced the Phoenix Credit cost of 204 Prime items and 240 Equipment Set items and blueprints. A player is now disconnected from the server if he is inactive for 15 minutes.

Players can no longer use the Portable Cover skill while dashing from cover to cover. Increased base damage from shotguns. And the damage from explosive bullets has been reduced. The full list of changes in Update 1.3 for Tom Clancy's The Division can be found at

New York City's labyrinthine subway stations and tunnels are the perfect setting for The Division's first paid DLC, which includes special missions consisting of randomly generated dungeons and quests. I had the chance to try out one of these missions at E3 2016, the first phase of the operation to be exact, and I came away wanting to dig even deeper into Manhattan's underground. But before we started, our squad leader gave us a quick tour of the new Tactical Operations Center, an extension to the Base of Operations.

While there's plenty to do in the area, you can head to the table in the center of the room, where you'll begin planning your operation, first selecting one of four difficulty levels: Normal, Hard, Critical, and Heroic (all of which have gear level recommendations, so you have there will be additional information before the upcoming tests). Additionally, menu information indicates that all multi-phase Underground operations are only playable on Hard difficulty or higher. In our case, a squad of three, we decided to go the easy route, with normal difficulty settings meaning only access to the first phase of the mission. Our guide told us about Directives, a set of modifications that can make a mission more difficult. For example, to give you an idea, there is "Fog of War" which will hide the GUI (like the mini-map) from your screen, thereby reducing awareness of enemy positions. There is also a feature where you will lose any remaining ammo in the clip while reloading, giving you less ammo overall. "Mad Skills" makes it so that when you use a certain skill, a timer is set on all of your skills, including your teammates' skills. "Special Forces" gives enemies special types of ammunition. Finally, Exhaustion gradually reduces your health until the last segment. We chose "Fog of War" and went underground to complete our first mission.

Looking at other players and their underground operation, it was great to see how different our level layouts were. Their mission began in a relatively large area with many trains passing by. We found ourselves in a room with several planes and stairs, where more vertical movement was expected, in a rather narrow space. As we progressed through the level in order to destroy enemy supplies, “Fog of War” made its own changes to our strategy - we began to rely more and more on squad members who were able to use the “Impulse” skill; progress slowed slightly. But that's not the only thing that slowed us down. The underground levels are full of exogenous dangers caused by damage to the system after the collapse. As we made our way through the rooms, we not only encountered obstacles in the form of exposed wires (which can be disarmed or carefully walked around if space allows), but also the danger of a fire, to prevent which we must turn off the valves before continuing with the mission .

Up until this point, most of the enemies had not caused much trouble (after all, we were playing on normal difficulty), but as soon as we destroyed the supplies, stronger opponents burst into the room, while snipers, meanwhile, took up positions on the balcony. We dealt with them and moved to the final area, where the last cache of supplies was located. There we were met with even stronger resistance. The leader of our squad went to destroy supplies while we diverted the fire to ourselves. After a short but intense firefight, we were victorious. Otherwise, we would have been sent back to the Tactical Operations Center. Before returning to the Center to begin another operation, we headed to the next room for our loot.

The Division's Underground expansion will be available on Xbox One and PC on June 28, and on August 2 on PS4.
