Whole person. What is a holistic personality and how to achieve it

An integral personality is one of the rather fetishized concepts in everyday, scientific and applied psychology, pedagogy, as well as some other humanitarian fields of knowledge and some forms of social consciousness.

Possible options

In a reduced worldly understanding, a complete person is one whose words do not diverge from deeds. That is, this is a person who “has a backbone” or “main core” (“core”) of personality. Such people are, of course, respected, but somehow this principle of explanation as the main one is too flat and insufficient.

In a more multifaceted sense, integral can be defined as follows: a person whose body, mind, and soul are developed and interact harmoniously, as a single whole.

Morality and Harmony

An integral personality is a mature and formed person, sufficiently independent spiritually, carrying out his activities on the basis of value and moral orientations. That is, an integral personality is, first of all, harmonious developed personality.

It should be noted that the understanding of harmony differs significantly among different nations and in different cultures. However, in any case, any system of upbringing and education among different peoples and tribes in different cultures presupposes the desire for the individual to achieve integrity.

Development and education of integrity

Different educational approaches answer the question: “How to become a whole person?” in different ways; each of them offers its own methods and approaches. At first glance, they are very different; in fact, most of the common truths of life offered for assimilation in the process of education are similar in different systems(for example, Buddhist, Christian and even Muslim moral behavioral principles largely coincide with each other, as well as with the principles of secular systems and education).

It is assumed that a person, in the process of development and education, as well as subsequent self-development, assimilates the principles offered by the family, the educational system and society. It is also assumed that life goals and the motives of an integral personality are tuned and implemented in accordance with social ones, otherwise the individual may be considered a sociopath. In fact, everything is much more complicated and mysterious.

And in fact…

It is the individuals with unique development, often contradicting the concepts of integrity, seriously influence the development of spiritual, moral-value and scientific-cultural spheres of social life. They influence both positively and negatively.

The human psyche is, in general, a very subtle matter. Concepts such as spirit and soul are generally difficult to analyze. And certainly, least of all qualified analysis personality, its spiritual, mental and moral side needs labeling. Alas, the overwhelming majority of practicing teachers are not distinguished by sufficient emotional delicacy in this matter.

conclusions

Based on these reflections and understandings, the opinion arises that an integral personality is a person with your own thoughts, life meanings and principles, which can only change in the process of your own, personal reassessment, and not under the pressure of others. Such people are outside the crowd, they are truly independent. Often the whole person is deeply alone inside because he dares to be himself. You have to be especially flexible and multifaceted in order to survive without breaking down psychologically.

Well, to draw a line, I would like to remind you that a person usually subjectively assigns meaning to certain meanings. Therefore, in the psychology of each of thinking people has its own understanding of a complete personality. In any case, probably everyone should strive for harmonious development, although some find it easier to live without it.

DIPLOMA RESEARCH of the Academy “Man-Creator” on the topic “INTEGRITY OF HUMAN”

1. What is integrity, how does a person feel and manifest it?

Human integrity– complete merging with the world, freely passing through oneself various energies for experience, cognition, research without evaluating these energies (and this does not destroy a person), harmonious interaction of aspects (soul, spirit, body, Higher Self, ego, mind, consciousness), state Creator Man.

Thesis Hearing on Integrity

Who is a holistic person?

A holistic person takes responsibility for his life, follows the path of the soul, lives in harmony with it, perceives everything that happens as experiences and lessons, lives in the “here and now”, accepts himself as he is, accepts all his shadow aspects , all his parts, allows himself to experience emotions, whatever they may be, and does not judge himself for it.

All energies are in balance, they flow freely within physical body and in subtle bodies. Such a person understands himself, clearly sees his path, accepts the world and other people as they are. There is a state of inner harmony.

A person flows into the world, merges with it, opens up to the world, and the world accepts such a person and opens for him streams of abundance and prosperity. A holistic person has no internal contradictions, no doubt in himself and in what the world gives him, in his true desires, states, actions, no fears, no boundaries.

A holistic person knows, accepts and appreciates any experience, feels inner freedom, looks at the world from the position of the Creator, is 100% in every moment, knows how to appreciate and enjoy it, therefore such a person has no problems, obstacles, worries and worries.

Spiritual and material flows are balanced. When a person is whole, he feels his way and does not hesitate. Integrity manifests itself in all areas of life. Truth feels like an internal compass. Man is a part of the integrity, the unity of the world, the Universe, and not integral in himself. The whole world is inside him and he is inside the world as one energy.

A holistic person knows how to manifest and realize his talents and desires in the world and society. By demonstrating talents, a person activates his internal resources. Energy channels turn on, the person is filled vital energy. A person shows interest in the world.

He cognizes and manifests in him. Integrity is constant cognition, disclosure and realization of ever greater opportunities and potential. Life is perceived as a great journey, an adventure.

A person of integrity wants to share. He radiates light and joy, pours these energies into external world. If disharmony is felt somewhere, then he can fill this space with harmonious energies that he conducts through himself. It can send light, positive vibrations to other people.

2. How aspects of a person interact in a state of integrity

Human integrity is a harmonious combination, interaction of all aspects and structures: soul, spirit, body, ego, consciousness, mind, Higher Self.

Each aspect is accepted and respected, it has its place, it fulfills its role, its purpose.
And he is not forced to do this, but he himself is happy to do it. Aspects support each other when needed. This is an established mechanism - the interaction of aspects. One aspect cannot exist without the other.
Integrity is manifested in the fact that all aspects act in one direction. A man had an idea, he took it and implemented it. And there is no doubt about it. Aspects do not pull him in different sides(for example, the soul responds to an idea, the mind says that it cannot be realized, the ego believes that it is stupid and empty, etc.).
A person feels and realizes what he wants, where to move next.
Mind relaxed, does not participate intensely in everything. Tuned to higher frequencies.
Spirit manifested, strong.
Soul holistic.
Spirit and soul support personality, when it is formed in childhood.
Consciousness calm and expanded, perceives the world as himself and himself as the world.
Body healthy and conducts energy well.
Ego calm, balanced. It manifests itself in aspirations. The ego manifests itself - and this is the impetus for new research. The ego is a stimulant.
Higher Self expanded, there are no limits, no boundaries. The Higher Self is inherently holistic. It cannot lose its integrity.

3. Causes of imbalance and loss of integrity

Many factors can disrupt a person's state of integrity.

This may be upbringing, limiting beliefs and fears imposed by society, traumatic situations in which, for example, a self-prohibition on feeling may appear in order to never feel pain again.
In such a situation, the connection with the soul is lost, and the mind takes control and additional functions to compensate for this imbalance.
A person can be born whole, or he can lose his integrity at any moment in his life.
Integrity can be lost already in the womb.
Maternal programs influence the child and are a powerful impetus for the loss of integrity.

Integrity is lost when any aspects are considered bad or negative.

Then this aspect sticks out even more.
This is the reaction of an aspect’s resistance to its denial, non-recognition.
It seems to show: pay attention to me, I exist, I have my own functions, I want to perform them for the good.
If an aspect atrophies, then impulses do not reach it, it does not fulfill its tasks. Other aspects must fulfill their role and take on the functions of the atrophied aspects.
If the soul leaves the body, then the integrity of the person is violated.

The reason for the loss of integrity may also be that the person does not perceive life as planned by the soul, as an experience. Therefore, the person reacts negatively to situations and suffers. If a person is not happy with himself, with his life, and is in a state of victimhood, then less and less energy remains to create integrity. It is spent on maintaining negative thoughts and emotions.

The cause of loss of integrity may be clogged negative emotions, limiting beliefs of the emotional and mental bodies. Then it goes to the level of the etheric body and as a block to the physical body.
The influence of an egregor can disrupt integrity. The egregor sucks a person in, an imbalance occurs. A person’s energy and attention flows into the egregor. Then there is not enough energy to create integrity.

Violation of integrity leads to the loss of “support under your feet”, to a feeling of hostility of the world, the desire to passively close yourself off, hide or actively fight and defend yourself. If a person closes himself off from the world, then he finds himself in a shell of his own making.

Then emotions, thoughts, etc. cannot come out, they press, and the process of “rotting” begins. Energy stops flowing and stagnation occurs. She has no way out. Such a person is like a dying cell of the body. The self-destruction process begins. Integrity is also lost when a person does not pay attention to inner world, but directs attention only to the outside world, starting to fight it. He does not take responsibility for his life, but believes that the world influences him.

4. How loss of integrity is related to subtle bodies

Imbalance in the subtle bodies affects the loss of integrity. Energy goes towards negative thoughts and emotions. If a person does not work with the conviction that it is impossible to change, that nothing can be changed, then more more programs. Integrity is violated.

If the emotional body is not worked out, there are blocks, unlived states, if there are limiting beliefs in mental body, then this does not allow us to achieve integrity. Etheric body clogged with negative energy.

Then energy does not flow freely through subtle bodies, across bodies, and accordingly there is no state of integrity. If you work through blocks and beliefs, then a person opens up more, becomes free from restrictions, realizes himself, and becomes holistic.

5. Is there a connection between the state of integrity and past lives?

Integrity does not transfer from life to life. The structures of our personality in the current life (ego, consciousness, mind) were not there in our past lives. These aspects are different in every life.

You can reach a state of integrity in one life if the soul has such a task.

And in next life There will be other tasks, and the state of integrity may not be necessary or relevant there.
A person can be born whole, or he can lose his integrity at any moment in his life. It depends on what the soul has planned for incarnation.

The soul can plan the loss of integrity in order to restore it later in the current life.
Until some time, people were integral, and now people are becoming more and more integral. This is the stage of development of souls on earth - to gain integrity during one specific life. For many souls, this is one of the tasks of incarnation in the current period of existence and development of the planet and life on it.

6. How to restore and maintain integrity

It is difficult for a person who is not in a state of integrity to see himself, his true state. You need to look into the soul, establish a connection with it, open up to the light, peace, energies. It takes a crack in a person's shell.

A man lived in a shell, then, when the time came right time, opportunities, events, bright souls come. The main thing is to see them. Perhaps someone needs an earthly mentor, a teacher who would help a person increase their level of awareness. When the shell cracks on all sides, energies begin to flow more freely.

To restore integrity you need to clean thin bodies, work through the blocks.

If you perceive everything as an experience, as planned by the soul, as a game and take life lightly, then this restores integrity.

The Higher Self, with the help of its powerful vibrations, can harmonize all aspects with each other.

Higher Self collects all aspects into integrity if a person has a desire, intention to do this, and there is a connection with the Higher Self. You can enter the state of the Higher Self, and the aspects remember this state and adjust. How one guitar is tuned based on an already tuned one. The process happens gradually.

Aspects can be harmonized through expressing oneself in creativity, because aspects will be directed in one direction.

You can maintain a state of integrity with the help of knowing and feeling that I am initially whole and perfect, everything in me is harmonious and ideal, that I am light. There is initially light and joy inside, but there is also a feeling of joy caused by the attitude towards external events. And this joy fuels that original state, and this leads to integrity. It is necessary that all aspects of the personality be connected to inner light and harmony.

It will help restore integrity by turning your attention inward, taking responsibility for your life, awareness and living in the moment “here and now,” trusting the world, accepting and recognizing all aspects and their functions equally.

There must be a readiness, a desire to feel precisely this state of integrity. Do not oppose yourself to anyone or anything. This state can be achieved through breathing, through meditation. Meditation is needed at the initial stage. Then a person can attune himself to higher energies, the flow will flow freely.

There will be a process of merging with all energies, with nature, the Universe. This is an entrance in a state of integrity. No limits. I am in everything and everything is in me.

The integrity of a person is a combination of its parts that creates a strong and harmonious integrity. We can talk about the external or general integrity of a person, meaning the harmonious unity of her physical, mental, spiritual and moral life. If a person teaches during the day healthy image life and moral values, and at night and until the morning he “buzzes” in a nightclub, picking up girls prostitute, it is difficult to talk about the integrity of such a personality. Personal integrity presupposes the correspondence of the content of a person’s inner life and his external activities. Thus, it can be difficult for a believer to serve in the army, killing people: this destroys his integrity.

In psychology they often talk about the internal integrity of the individual, meaning a person’s ability to critical situations keep your life strategy, remain committed to your life positions and value orientations. This is a person who is both autonomous and open to people and life.

Personal integrity is spoken of when a person has the courage to look at things realistically, draw their own conclusions and, if necessary, speak up about it, including resisting external pressure. This is a person who has a stable worldview and value system. This is a person who is not tormented by contradictions, who has peace and confidence inside.

The antipode of the concept of “integral personality” is the concept of “fragmentary personality”, i.e. a personality whose elements are in conflict with each other.

Where does personal integrity come from or how is it formed? Personal integrity is not given at birth, but is formed primarily under the influence of the external environment or in interaction with the external environment. Depending on the specific environment and internal predisposition, the integrity of the individual can develop according to two main models: the power model and the model of internal harmony.

In the power model, the integrity of the individual is supported by rigid beliefs and the ability to defend these beliefs in direct and open conflict. Such a personality can break completely, but she will not bend and “surrender” her beliefs. The more stable a person’s values are, the firmer her beliefs, principles, and ideals, the more clearly her integrity is manifested. Note that a person with a low level of personality development, “stubborn” in his views, will be called “stubborn” and not holistic.

Integrity is spoken of in relation to people already at a certain level of development, where their beliefs include not only the reproduction of everyday stereotypes, but also high morality, especially the idea of spirituality. A person who lives under the star of his ideals and values is ready, without inner doubt, to sacrifice himself and his life to his beliefs. We can say that this is a developed personality on the path of Service.

The power model of personality integrity is more typical for men and is brought up within the framework of a male culture. It is not easy for a man to agree with external demands and external control; he must accept these demands within himself, really agree with them. But if he accepted them, he will look after them himself. He became like this.

Metaphorically, it is a structure made of rubber that can be compressed, stretched and bent, but as soon as the pressure is released, everything is restored. The model of internal harmony is more typical for women and is brought up within the framework of women's culture.

In the model of internal harmony, the integrity of the individual is supported by two circumstances: internal harmony and internal flexibility. When relationships with the environment develop successfully, that is, a person accepts the environment, and it accepts him, then a healthy, normal, internally consistent - integral personality is formed.

Harmony within, which is sometimes described as a union of consciousness and subconscious, as the absence of conflicts between internal parts personality, more often represents the assimilation of socially acceptable beliefs and a POSITIVE WORLD PERSPECTIVE, when a person understands both those around him and himself, notes in himself and those around him primarily positive and strengths and is not prone to self-accusation. Soft movements, warm intonations and natural kindness complement the image of such a person.

As for internal flexibility, this is the ability to temporarily adapt to strict requirements internal environment, using every opportunity for self-healing, to return to the original state.

You must be a member of this group to be able to communicate in it.

The integrity of the individual is manifested in its versatility. A personality should be like the purest crystal, refracting the surrounding reality. We often see images of a meditating person sitting in the lotus position. Smooth posture, gaze directed inwards, energy stability. This is a portrait of a yogi who has found inner balance. I think integrity has to do with balance. Let's turn to nature. Is it complete? If it were unstable and disorderly, then we would be dealing with chaos, and then we would hardly be able to communicate in positivity and build our logical reasoning. Nature finds its integrity in harmony. We, people, are looking for ways to understand its phenomena, trying to find real contact with it. By destroying it, we will not find integrity. Only by understanding its beauty, comprehending perfection through it, will we gain unity with it, interacting with nature in a single organism in which everything is interconnected and interdependent. We are looking for teachers, but he is very close. Go to the forest, find a forest lake, touch a mossy carpet, breathe the air of perfection, learn to speak the language of nature, listen to its sounds. You will learn a lot from this wise teacher, who is always waiting for his students to tell his secrets.

I often hear requests from clients in psychological sessions: “I want integrity and spontaneity..”

But what is personal integrity? And how possible is this?

Integrity is when a person is in contact with all parts of his personality, without alienating any of them. He hears them all. And gives each of its parts the right to vote.

Every quality in human personality has its own polarity.
It's like the wave of a pendulum.

If there is a “+”, there will always be a “-”, and vice versa. And the higher the “+”, the more “-”.

For example, if you have good nature, then you can fall into rage, and in anger.
If you are capable of manifestations of sincerity generosity, then seizures greed you are also familiar.
If states are available to you euphoria and all-consuming love for the world, then in devastating depression you are capable of flying away with your head.

One cannot exist without the other. These are two poles of one wave.

We are all made up of a set of polarities. But we prefer to accept in ourselves only that which is worthy of being us.
The rest we are used to suppressing and “winning”.

A little exercise during the play :

Write 5 qualities or parts self, try to characterize yourself with five qualities.
Eat? Now find the polarity for each of them.
Get acquainted. It's you too :))

Artist: Alexi Zaitsev
The defeated part goes underground with a feeling of annihilation, and the winning part is left with a feeling of guilt. There are no winners in a war with yourself.

The repressed part likes to manifest itself in an unexpected way at the most inopportune time.

The famous psychotherapists Polsters describe the case of a guy working as a volunteer in the most difficult places on earth; he went through a lot and saw a lot. Everything would be fine, the guy is strong and incredibly brave, but... impotent. He suppressed the ability to feel fear, the ability to experience emotions, the ability to perk up. He was incredibly calm, describing everything he saw and experienced. But the calmness achieved with such difficulty and the eradicated ability to be alive played a cruel joke on him: you cannot have sex with a calm member. He had to regain his ability to experience emotions, regain his “restlessness.”

The second sign of suppression and alienation of certain qualities in oneself is the endowment of them to others.

What we alienate in ourselves, we project on other people.

If we do not see, do not distinguish our own accumulated anger, aggression and irritation, then more and more often we see this aggression in others. It seems to us that there are a lot of angry and aggressive people around.

People often project greed, envy, dishonesty, and incompetence onto others.

Little exercise number two

If you feel that someone is being hostile towards you,

Take the risk of discovering this feeling in yourself.

Wholeness is getting in touch with every part of yourself.

By alienating a part from ourselves, we also deprive ourselves of its resources, its strength. And at the same time we spend energy on keeping some of us locked up, on the need for constant control.

Each of us is full of attitudes about what is bad and what is good.

It’s bad to be sad, greedy, aggressive, intolerant.
But there is a lot of depth in sadness, greed protects us from the devastating waste of ourselves, there is strength in aggression, and in intolerance the ability to set boundaries.
Being in only one polarity, we lose a lot.
The most important thing is half of yourself.

Often we accept some parts of our personality and reject others. For example, we accept kindness and reject anger. Or, on the contrary, we consider ourselves a businesslike and purposeful person, displacing our sensitivity, vulnerability, and tenderness from our consciousness. This prevents us from fully using our energy, since we spend a significant part of it isolating unwanted feelings or qualities. However, we have the power to restore integrity and release our energy.

Natalie Rogers, daughter of the creator of humanistic psychotherapy, Carl Rogers, and author of her own method, expressive arts therapy, offers several exercises that will help us become familiar with the contents of our unconscious and achieve greater integrity and awareness.

“For us to become whole, fully actualized and fulfilled, our journey must include an exploration of the unconscious, revealing those aspects of our Self that we have discarded or hidden, ignored or suppressed,” she writes in her book. - The first step is always awareness. Without this we have no opportunities. Awareness of fear, shame, guilt, anger, pain, light, sensitivity or creativity is the first movement towards accepting every aspect of yourself as it is. Personal integration is part of the natural progression of events when using symbolic and expressive means. Once we discover the unknown, the process that follows creates the opportunity for each of these parts to find their rightful place in our psyche."

You can do these exercises with a friend who shares your interest in self-discovery and trusts you. But you can explore the contents of your unconscious alone. It's helpful to write down a plan in advance and post it in a visible place that you can follow. Completing the entire sequence of steps takes 2-3 hours. Be sure to allow time for rest at the end of exercise so that the return to your normal daily activities is as smooth and gradual as possible. Ideally, these exercises are performed on a free day, when your work or home responsibilities are reduced to a minimum. Prepare a room where you can move freely and sound freely. Turn off external communications so there are no distractions.

List

Make a list of opposites you know, such as:

love and hate;

fear and self-confidence;

passivity and aggression;

playfulness and seriousness;

joy and sadness;

attraction and rejection...

Continue the list on your own for 10-15 minutes.

Meditation

Sit in silence for a few minutes with your eyes closed. Breathe deeply and let all these words float in your mind. Then determine which pair of opposites is currently attracting your attention. This will become a topic for further research.

Image

Take large leaf paper (for example, you can take drawing paper in A2 format: 42x56 cm). Listen to yourself: do you want to depict each of the pair of opposites on the same page or on different ones? If on different ones, prepare a second sheet. Prepare paints or pencils. Use your non-dominant hand (left for right-handed people, right for left-handed people) when choosing colors and when drawing. Portray each opposite while expressing your feelings. Don't worry about how the drawing looks. Try closing your eyes while drawing.

Offers

Write on each part of your drawing (or on each of two drawings) five sentences that begin with the word “I”.

Movement and sound

Look at the first drawing and at the same time allow your body to move in time with the lines, rhythms and colors that you see. Allow yourself to make a variety of sounds that express your feelings as you move. When doing this, remember that you have space above and below, wide space and narrow space. You can move slowly or quickly. Your movements can be angular or fluid. Experiment with sounds while driving. Continue until you feel that you have fully expressed the content of the drawing through movement and sound. Take a short break and do the same while looking at the second drawing.

Free writing

For 10 minutes, write down everything that comes to your mind and everything that your hand wants to write. Don't censor yourself, don't stop. You can write a dialogue between two poles of opposites.

Image

Now quickly draw the third drawing. Use both hands at the same time. Let everything happen. What words come to your mind when you look at this picture?

Meditation

Think about what you have done. Close your eyes, breathe deeply. Let everything go. How are you feeling now? What have you learned about yourself and your internal conflicts?

The result of this exercise is the acquisition of greater integrity, the feeling that you are becoming closer to yourself, to own essence. It may not happen right away, so don't worry if you don't come to clear conclusions immediately after completing the exercise or if you find yourself asking, "What should I do with all this now?" Live for several days, observing the changes taking place in you, listening to your feelings. Trust your intuition, which can tell you in which direction to move next.
