Strong emotional arousal, signs of how to withdraw. Nervous excitement - types, causes, symptoms and treatment

Increased nervous excitability is considered a fairly common disorder. nervous system. Often, increased nervous excitability is observed in young children and adolescents. Male children and adolescents are more susceptible to this disorder. Symptoms of increased nervous excitability are - violations of the movements of the eyeballs, asymmetry of the muscles of the face, poor orientation in time and space, awkwardness and lack of concentration. In addition, there are headaches and a slight delay in intellectual development. Increased nervous excitability usually develops if a person is subject to frequent stress, lack of sleep, irritation and nervousness. All this can be expressed in conflict situations with people around. Sometimes the cause of the development of increased nervous excitability is not emotional and mental factors, but anxious and suspicious character traits. However, often the first and second causes are present in combination. A vicious circle is formed: lack of sleep - irritation - nervous stress- insomnia. It is insomnia that is a hallmark of increased nervous excitability. Insomnia is determined by the state of a person, if he cannot fall asleep for three to four hours, tosses about in bed, trying to find a comfortable body position. Also, a person can wake up in the middle of the night and lie until the morning with his eyes open. In some cases, insomnia is considered as a symptom of some somatic pathology. To prevent increased nervous excitability, it is necessary to adjust the sleep pattern, in particular, adhere to the same time of going to bed. In other words, try to go to bed at the same time every day. In addition, it is necessary to observe a sufficient duration of sleep - at least seven hours. People at a more mature age, as a rule, have enough five hours of sleep. Remedies for increased nervous excitability Calendula officinalis flowers have a calming effect on the nervous system. In addition, they lower blood pressure, eliminate pain in the temples and help to fall asleep. As a rule, from increased nervous excitability, take a tincture of calendula for alcohol, thirty drops twice a day. A decoction of calendula flowers helps to eliminate the symptoms of increased nervous excitability. To prepare a decoction, you need to take two tablespoons of calendula, the same amount of oregano, a tablespoon of tansy. Chop herbs and mix. Brew a tablespoon of the herbal mixture with a glass of boiling water, insist for half an hour and strain. Take half a glass in the morning and evening. The course of therapy is three weeks. To calm the nerves and eliminate insomnia with increased nervous excitability, a decoction of pure calendula will help - boil a tablespoon of flowers, leave for an hour, then strain thoroughly. Drink inside half a glass of infusion in a warm form before going to bed. Peppermint helps to tidy up the nerves. Take two parts of the herb, two parts of the watch, one part of the hop cones and one part of the valerian roots. Grind two tablespoons and brew glasses of boiling water. Modern life with its high cost, intense rhythm, stress, in the wrong way life quickly exhausts the strength of the strongest man. Unfavorable environmental conditions also contribute to this.

It is understandable why we are all overworked, irritable and nervous. Weaken our energy, will, severe fatigue fetters us, disappears interest in work, and in life itself and its joys. “We need to cheer ourselves up, excite ourselves,” many of us think. And alcohol, tobacco, coffee and all kinds of other nervous poisons are used, finishing the destruction begun by overwork and a wrong way of life.

The result of this is very formidable. Our forces are weakening and we are in a hurry to take measures, which for the most part turn out to be of little success and do not achieve the goal. Neither trips to the country, nor vacations, resorts, nor holidays in the countryside - nothing helps. You swallow all kinds of medicines prescribed by doctors, but nothing helps. You understand that you are becoming disabled and must leave the arena. You join the ranks of a huge mass of chronically ill people, crowding in queues for doctors and for all the charlatans who promise healing. You believe, you try, and for the hundredth time you are convinced that you have been deceived. Where to look for help? Where is the remedy that can give healing? I will give you an answer to this question and show you how and with what you can restore a shattered nervous system and again become a cheerful, energetic, cheerful, in a word, completely healthy person. Increased nervous excitability is a condition of the body and the central nervous system that occurs in a large number of people against the background of stress, conflict and fatigue. Diagnosis and treatment of this disorder is carried out by a neurologist. Sometimes they resort to the help of a psychologist. The prognosis of the disease is favorable. When the first symptoms of this disease appear, you should contact medical institution for the help of a specialist.

    Description of the disease

Increased nervous excitability in psychology is a reaction human body on overwork, a large amount of information and conflicts. The disorder occurs in 20% of the population and occurs in children, adult men and women. The formation of this disorder is influenced by hereditary predisposition, metabolic pathologies and hormonal disruptions in the body.

Depressive states, neuroses, psychopathy and schizophrenia also provoke the development of this disease. Increased nervous excitability occurs in people during the withdrawal period (after prolonged alcohol use) and drug addiction. Also, the reasons for the formation of nervous excitability include the following:

    • malnutrition;
    • chronic lack of sleep;
    • constant stress;
    • individual psychological characteristics (suspiciousness and anxiety);
    • caffeine overdose;
    • lack of B vitamins;
    • transferred infectious diseases;
    • degenerative disorders (Alzheimer's disease).

    Main clinical manifestations and types

There are the main symptoms of an excited state of a person. These include the asymmetric nature of the muscles of the face, violations of the movement of the eyeballs. There are failures in spatial orientation.

There is absent-mindedness and lack of organization in movements and expression of thoughts. Patients complain of headaches. There are violations of the intellectual sphere, sleep and insomnia.

There are such characteristics of the personality of patients as conflict, increased irritability. Patients are nervous because of trifles, break down on loved ones and their subordinates. They often have nightmares. Increased tearfulness, longing and self-pity are noted.

A person is verbose and performs impulsive actions that indicate psychomotor agitation. The patient complains of not being able to sleep for several hours, tossing and turning in bed and waking up in the middle of the night.

Depending on the behavior and speech of the patient, the following types of nervous excitation are distinguished:

    View Characteristic
hallucinatory-delusionalCloseness and tension are noted. The patient experiences fear and anxiety. AT clinical picture hallucinations and delusions are observed. Because of this, the patient poses a danger to himself and others.
DepressiveThere is a depressive depression. The patient is pessimistic about the future
catatonicThere are movement disorders. The patient's speech is slurred, and the behavior is ridiculous, inconsistent with the social situation
ManicThere is an increased emotional background, sharp drops moods (emotional lability)
psychogenicIt occurs against the background of psychological trauma (death of a loved one, breakup of relationships, accidents). There is panic, fear. Suicidal attempts and thoughts are observed
epilepticOccurs in people who suffer from epilepsy due to hallucinations. Paroxysms come and go abruptly, without warning
EmbitteredThis condition occurs in a person in relation to a person who is an offender. The patient is in tension, screaming, insulting another. Sometimes hysterical seizures develop

Features of the disorder in children

AT early age This disease occurs due to difficult childbirth and complicated pregnancy. Increased nervous excitability appears in children due to the fact that the mother during gestation suffers from bad habits (smoking, alcoholism). The following factors also influence the formation of pathology:

    • constant stress of a pregnant woman;
    • earlier weaning of the child;
    • taking drugs during pregnancy that were not prescribed by doctors.

In children under 4 years of age and newborns, increased nervous excitability has its own characteristics. Motor restlessness is noted, which occurs when touching or changing posture. If the child hears sharp sound, it starts to tremble. Increased nervous excitability occurs in children if, during childbirth or in early infancy, disturbances occurred in the central nervous system (central nervous system).

Neurological pathologies are noted in the form of tremor (trembling of the limbs). At the moment of crying, the child's chin trembles and the head tilts back. Observed increased tone muscles when overexcited. Cry baby takes place at high pitches.

Newborns have restless and short sleep. They often lie with their eyes open. In infants, the plantar reflex does not work. Regurgitation and slow weight gain are observed.

With the wrong treatment or its absence, consequences are possible. This disorder progresses into ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Such children become restless, forgetful and aggressive.

Subsequently, if left untreated, they suffer from speech delay, i.e. vocabulary accumulates more slowly than in healthy peers. The child uses phrases incorrectly. Motor acts suffer.

Diagnosis of this disease in children is carried out by asking the mother about the course of pregnancy and childbirth. Thus, the conformity of the development of the child to his age is checked, on the basis of which a diagnosis is made. Depending on the severity and type of violations, the necessary drug treatment. In addition to drugs, it is recommended to correct the daily regimen, attend massage and swimming sessions.

    Diagnostics

Diagnosis of this disease is carried out by a neurologist. Sometimes they resort to the help of an endocrinologist in order to detect diseases thyroid gland. To study disorders in the structure of the brain and the functioning of neurons, instrumental research methods are used: EEG (electroencephalography), MRI of the brain (magnetic resonance imaging) and radiographic examination of the skull.

They also use the study of cerebrospinal fluid, urine and blood tests. The doctor measures the patient's blood pressure, pulse, body temperature and respiratory rate, checking the state of the autonomic nervous system. To study individual personality traits, they turn to a psychologist.

    Treatment

Medical therapy is used for severe course illness. Basically, the patient can correct this disorder on their own after consulting a doctor. Depending on the type of pathology, severity and causes of the development of the disease, certain drugs are prescribed:

Glycine is one of the most common anti-stress medicines. This drug belongs to the group of metabolites that improves brain function, its neural connections and normalizes the state of the nervous system. Glycine eliminates insomnia and stabilizes the emotional background, and is also not addictive. This medication is prescribed for children and adults in the absence of allergic reactions to the components of the drug and taking into account weight and age.

    Therapy with folk remedies

Folk remedies are also used. In order to eliminate this disorder, valerian root, motherwort flowers, and plantain are used. Such antidepressants can be purchased at pharmacies without a prescription, they do not cause dependence. From the dried components, it is recommended to prepare tinctures for alcohol or water-based decoctions.

You need to use a remedy from calendula flowers. To prepare it, you should mix the plant with oregano and tansy. These ingredients must be poured with a hot glass of boiling water and infused for 60 minutes, then strain. Scheme: 100 g for 3 weeks.

A decoction of St. John's wort should be taken in 1 tbsp. l. 2-4 times a day (after meals). You can use an alcohol composition with lemon zest. You should also use an infusion of motherwort. To do this, you need to insist 2 teaspoons of herbs for 6-8 hours and take 20-25 drops 3-4 times a day (half an hour before meals).

    Prevention and prognosis

With timely access to a doctor and proper therapy, the prognosis of the disease is favorable. Measures to prevent the syndrome of nervous excitement include daily walking in the fresh air, getting rid of bad habits and proper upbringing in the family. It is not recommended to spend a lot of time at the computer.

You need to pay more attention to yourself, family and hobbies. It is necessary to try to avoid conflict and stressful situations. It is recommended to fully relax on weekends. To learn how to apply relaxation techniques, you should contact a psychologist for help.

The high pace of modern life, associated with the mental intensity of the labor process and with numerous violations of human biorhythms, place increased demands on the functional activity of all human organs and systems without exception. Increased physical and mental activity, especially in stressful situation, often causes the appearance of a persistent focus of excitation in the central nervous system, various sleep disorders, insomnia. To remove this excitement, to normalize sleep means to find new reserves of activity, physical and mental performance. It is possible that these factors are responsible for the spread of drug addiction in modern world like trying to get out of the circle constant stress. In such situations, it is necessary to normalize sleep, which is disturbed to one degree or another.

Of course, you can get rid of insomnia or nervous excitability for a short time by taking modern synthetic sedatives and hypnotics, but they can be used only in extreme cases, since such drugs very often develop drug dependence, and they do not provide physiologically normal sleep. herbal remedies with a similar type of action are practically devoid of these shortcomings.

Let us first consider the diseases and pathological conditions of the nervous system, in the treatment of which the following are used: medicinal plants.

Vegetovascular dystonia, neurocircular dystonia:

- a dreary, depressed mood with a consciousness of one's own insufficiency, pessimism, monotony of ideas, a decrease in excitation, inhibition of movements.

Hypochondria- excessive attention to one's health, fear of getting an incurable disease.

Hysteria- a disease from the group of neuroses, manifested by demonstrative emotional reactions (tears, laughter, screams), convulsions, transient paralysis, loss of sensitivity, deafness, blindness, confusion, hallucinations.

Neurasthenia- a nervous disease in which increased excitability is combined with irritability, fatigue, decreased performance, mood instability.

neuroses- conditions that develop as a result of prolonged exposure to a psycho-traumatic factor, emotional or mental overstrain.

Chorea- erratic twitching of the muscles of the face and limbs.

Epilepsy- a chronic disease of the brain, occurring in the form of predominantly convulsive seizures with loss of consciousness and personality changes. According to the nature of the seizures and the course of epilepsy, its numerous forms are distinguished.

Nowadays, even the most seasoned people often lose their nerves. Gradually, irritability builds up. We involuntarily break down either in the family or at work, in a crowded transport, in queues exhausting the soul. We swear to nervous breakdown We can't calm down for a long time. We begin to suffer from oppressive melancholy, unreasonable headaches, heavy sleep with nightmares, or, conversely, debilitating insomnia.

Undoubtedly, low level life and the state of our nervous system are closely interconnected. And yet, with a reasonable approach to one's health, one can alleviate and even nullify the severity of stressful blows, protect exposed nerves with long-tried therapeutic agents among the people.

Let me remind you that one of these most popular remedies is valerian with its unique ability to gently, without causing any harm to the body, calm and heal the nervous system. In pharmacies, now you can’t always find alcohol and ether tinctures, dry extract tablets or other valerian preparations. Therefore, if necessary, you can prepare the medicine yourself.

There are many recipes. In some reference books, it is recommended to put a teaspoon of crushed roots in a glass of boiling water, in others - one or even two tablespoons for the same amount of water. Some experts advise boiling for 15 minutes, others convince that you just need to pour boiling water over it and leave for 2 hours. There are no strict rules for admission either: from 1 tablespoon to half a glass of infusion or decoction. But there is one general rule: valerian should not be used occasionally, but systematically and for a long time, since it therapeutic effect develops slowly. After a month and a half, you need to take a break.

I have mine favorite way cooking valerian, acting very effectively. To sense the roots in a mortar, pour 2 teaspoons in the evening with a glass of boiled water at room temperature and leave it under the lid for the night, keeping it for at least 10 hours. In the morning I stir, let the suspension settle. I don't filter. I store in a cool place. In the morning and afternoon, you should drink 1 tablespoon, at night - a quarter cup. This cold infusion is especially good for the treatment of children with increased nervous excitability, as well as for hysteria, convulsions, epilepsy. Babies are given 1 teaspoon 3 times a day.

Some patients do not tolerate valerian at all. In such cases, other herbs come to the rescue.

I have often seen how in the villages, with nervous disorders, not without success, they use the grass and flowers of the meadowsweet, popularly called meadowsweet. The usual measure is two or three pinches per glass of boiling water, drunk instead of tea.

Meadowsweet has not only a sedative, but also an anticonvulsant effect, improves sleep, and treats anemia. In addition, flowers, herbs and roots are useful for diabetics, rheumatism, kidneys. There is information about the use of herbs and rhizomes in malignant tumors. Meadowsweet can be used fearlessly, it does not have any contraindications.

Wild hops are quite accessible to everyone. Its seeds for medicinal purposes must be collected on time, usually in August, as soon as they become greenish. yellow. Pleasant, slightly bitter tea from hop cones relieves irritability, soothes. No more than 2 cones are placed on a glass of tea.

From one weight part of hops, filled with 4 weight parts of alcohol or vodka, a tincture is prepared that acts as a sleeping pill, helping with neurosis, neuralgia. The time of infusion on seventy-degree alcohol is 7 days, on vodka - 2 weeks. In the afternoon, before dinner, take 5-10 drops in a teaspoon of water, in the evening before going to bed, 10-15 drops. The dosage is selected individually, the lower limit is enough for one, and someone will not be limited to the upper limit, they will add another 1 - 2 drops. But you should not abuse it, an overdose can cause malaise, headache. Conversely, in acceptable doses, it acts as an analgesic.

In addition, I can say that hop preparations strengthen the cardiovascular system, especially with myocardial weakness. Not only in folk, but also in scientific medicine, good results have been noted for allergic and occupational dermatitis. Immature seedlings insist and drink with thrombophlebitis, tuberculosis of the lungs and skin. Hops help with menopausal ailments, uric acid diathesis, and is popularly used for skin and breast cancer.

I will not linger on the elementary recipes for the use of oregano, chamomile, hawthorn. I am struck by a luxurious bouquet of less popular plants, such as woodruff, chicory, knotweed, angelica, larkspur, multi-colored carnation, goat willow, common thorn, forest initial cap, which have a beneficial effect on the central nervous system.

Few people would think of treating nerves with garden sunflowers. The yellow marginal petals are cut off from the newly blossomed sunflower, they insist on vodka and drink one teaspoon before meals from neurosis, neuralgia. Or brew tea from 1 teaspoon of dried petals to a glass of boiling water. I heard that the decoction is also used as an anti-cancer agent.

The infusion of the sequence has a calming effect on the nerves - a teaspoon per glass of boiling water.

Sometimes you don’t have to go far for medicinal plants, it’s enough to grow them in the garden, for example, lettuce or marigolds - calendula. Lettuce, regularly consumed during the summer, will be beneficial in disorders of the nervous system, relieve insomnia, headaches caused by high blood pressure. Daily tea from marigolds - 4 - 5 flowers per glass - reduces the reflex excitability of the nervous system, and also helps with hypertension, enhances the activity of the heart and slows down its rhythm. In summer it is preferable to use fresh flowers.

NEURASTHENIA

Not so long ago, statistical data published in the central press on the incidence of neurasthenia in school-age children caught my eye. The numbers are depressing. If the nervous system is depleted from childhood, then what can we say about the adult population?

Traditional medicine for neurasthenia uses dozens various plants. Among them, not only the well-known oregano, St. John's wort, valerian deserve attention, but also other medicinal herbs, albeit not so popular, but with a clear directional effect.

Yellow clover, for example, contains coumarin, which has a calming effect on the central nervous system. With neurasthenia, as well as excessive excitability, convulsive conditions, headaches and insomnia, the following infusion of sweet clover grass is very useful: 1 tablespoon is poured into a glass of cold boiled water. Keep covered for 4 hours (can be soaked overnight). Drink 100 g two or three times a day.

Harvested at the height of flowering, then dried in the shade, sweet clover is fragrant and pleasant. It gives rise to a deceptive feeling of complete harmlessness, but it should be remembered that an overdose or excessive use of it can backfire, cause nausea and severe headache. In general, when using any herbs, you need to know the measure.

Sweet clover is harvested at noon, from the beginning of the lunar month to the full moon - this is the best time. You need to dry quickly, in dry and hot weather. When it rains heavily and the air humidity is high, the sweet clover grass must be immediately brought into a dry room, protected from warming. At high humidity, the coumarin contained in sweet clover is quickly converted into dicoumarol, which is hazardous to health, and can lead to liver poisoning and even hemorrhage.

Heather is popular among the people. He collects flowering leafy tops on a sunny afternoon. An infusion of them nourishes exhausted nerves, relieves astheno neurotic reactions.

To do this, 2 tablespoons of heather pour 0.5 liters of hot water, insist all night in warmth. Drink in 4 divided doses before meals.

Heather is non-toxic, it is used not only for neurasthenia and insomnia, but also for colds with high temperature, with inflammation Bladder and purulent processes in urinary tract, at nephrolithiasis and inflammation renal pelvis, with diseases of the liver and spleen, as well as diabetes. In the old days, heather was more famous, but now it is half-forgotten.

And what good results angelica gives! Connoisseurs often use decoctions from its root for nervous exhaustion, hysteria and even epilepsy. It has a general tonic effect on the nervous system.

For a decoction, 2 teaspoons of crushed root are enough for 2 cups of boiling water. It is advisable to hold for half an hour in a boiling water bath. The decoction is taken half a glass 3-4 times a day before meals.

Angelica officinalis is the common angelica. An inexperienced person can easily confuse it with angelica forest, also sometimes called angelica, wolf pipe. Both of them reach the height of a man, both have a thick hollow root and large leaves with large swollen sheaths. With a closer look, one can note the difference in the inflorescences: in the angelica, that is, the medicinal angelica, they are yellowish greenish, collected in complex umbrellas in the form of large balls, and in the forest angelica - in the form of a shield. flatter, often with a pinkish tint. But the main distinguishing feature is in their underground part. Angelica has hilly, reddish-gray rhizomes, juicy, fleshy, the smell from them comes from a strong, fragrant, while angelica forest roots are thinner, more woody, with a weak bad smell. In folk medicine, both plants are used, only in this case I am talking about real angelica, and it is they who should be used.

By the way, in addition to taking the decoction inside, it is very useful for nervous diseases angelica baths. Two handfuls of dried roots should be poured with three liters of water, brought to a boil, kept on low heat for 15 minutes, insisted for another hour and, after straining, pour into the bath being taken. Immediately after the broth is removed from the fire, it is advisable to throw in a handful of mint, oregano and hops for the time of infusion. Baths, being in them up to 20 minutes, are repeated every other day for three weeks.

Angelica roots, rich essential oils, stored in a tightly closed container, then they do not lose their healing properties up to three years. The roots dug closer to the full moon, preferably after sunset, have the greatest strength.

From various diseases, including neurasthenia, the people successfully use the bedstraw. It is also called yellow porridge, as well as honeydew, because a delicate honey aroma comes from a sprawling panicle with small yellow flowers. It grows almost everywhere, both on upland and floodplain meadows, near roads, on hillsides, in bushes, wanders into bright, sun-drenched sparse forests, forest edges and clearings. Its full name is the real bedstraw, because there are also northern, marsh, tenacious, Russian, soft, straight, thyme-leaved, three-flowered and other bedstraw siblings. They have their own distinctive features, and much narrower distribution area. In any case, if you get to know each other at least once, you can’t confuse honeydew with any other herb.

Yellow porridge is usually brewed as a tea, taking a teaspoon of crushed herb with flowers in a glass of boiling water, then sip it in a small sip throughout the day. The required amount of infusion is selected individually. Personally, for example, I drank a tea cup 2 times a day, at lunch and at night.

Soothing, even with epilepsy and convulsions in children, is the juice of the bedstraw, squeezed from a fresh plant. Drink it in a teaspoon, washed down with a small amount of water, 3 times a day.

The simplest and most affordable plants can have a beneficial effect on sore nerves. If you are not too lazy, in the summer it will not be difficult to dry raspberry leaves. Best of all, of course, wild, forest, but garden is also suitable. It is generally accepted that only berries have a healing effect in raspberries. They are dried in case of colds as an excellent diaphoretic and as an antipyretic. However, all parts of it are healing. There are examples when some healers healed with a decoction of raspberry roots. severe forms bronchial asthma. An infusion of flowers is used for hemorrhoids, female diseases. AT Tibetan medicine decoctions of leaves and stems are prescribed for neurasthenia, neuritis.

For personal use, I prepare the tincture in a ratio of 1:3, that is, I fill the jar a third of the volume with lightly crushed raspberry leaves, then pour the usual forty-degree vodka to the top. After nine days of infusion, I filter. The first ten days should be taken 20 drops 3 times a day half an hour before meals, in the second ten days, 30 drops, and starting from the third, 50 drops with a course of treatment for at least three months.

This tincture is well combined with a consolidated infusion of Ivan tea leaves, it is prepared at the rate of 1 tablespoon per glass of boiling water, a daily dose of 0.5 liters. The infusion must be kept warm for at least six hours. It is best to pour the leaves overnight, strain in the morning. A thermos is ideal for brewing. If this tea seems too strong to someone, you can put one tablespoon for the same amount of boiling water.

Drops and water infusion are taken at the same time. In this way, the patient's condition can be significantly alleviated. It has long been noticed among the people that medicinal infusions from Ivan - tea can compete with valerian. Pharmacologists have confirmed the sedative and anticonvulsant effects of the plant.

NEUROSIS, NEURALGIA

Once, it was still in my youth, I was seriously disturbed by severe heart pains. They came suddenly, piercing the chest with burning lightning. You freeze, hold your breath and wait for the sharp shooting pain to finally let go. And gloomy thoughts creep into my head: they say, everything, I got through, the end, I really couldn’t live. And the weakness is such that it hits the sweat ... At first, he was very distrustful of the doctor's words that the heart was in order, this was a neurosis, it was necessary to treat the nerves. I thought, what does the nerves have to do with it, the pain is heart. Later, after treatment, I was convinced that the doctor was completely right.

In fact, cardiovascular neuroses are often perceived by patients as a tragedy. People panic, begin to be afraid of any physical activity, literally grow into a disease, grab onto validol and nitroglycerin, although help is often needed not so much for the heart as for the nervous system.

In the section on heart disease, I have already spoken of neurosis. Here I note that with this ailment motherwort has proven itself perfectly. The tops of the plant are collected and dried along with the leaves at the beginning of flowering, when the flowers have not yet acquired thorns. Prepare water decoctions, alcohol tinctures. The recipe is given in all reference books on medicinal plants, and in our book, in some places, methods for preparing infusions and decoctions will be given. But with neuroses, I prefer only juice squeezed from fresh grass. Why? There are several answers. A decoction, even a weak one - a teaspoon per glass of boiling water - can dramatically lower blood pressure. Not always, not at all, but I observed several cases when, half an hour after taking such a decoction, the pressure dropped by almost two dozen divisions. Alcohol extract is also more suitable for hypertensive patients. Therefore, motherwort is contraindicated in arterial hypertension. It is not advised to use it even with a strong decrease in heart rate - bradycardia. As for the juice, as I noticed, it has a milder and more gentle effect, not so dramatically affecting the level of pressure and heart function, but its sedative properties are much higher than that of water and alcohol extracts from the herb.

For long-term storage, motherwort juice should be diluted by half with vodka. Reception from 20 to 40 drops 3 - 4 times a day before meals.

With neuroses, people drink an infusion of dried birch leaves in May. Put them up to five tablespoons in 0.5 liters of warm water, leave overnight. In the morning, filter, squeeze the swollen leaves. They let it settle and pour the infusion into another bowl, trying not to stir up the sediment. Drink half a glass 2-3 times a day before meals.

With neuralgic pains, alcohol tincture from birch buds is used externally for rubbing and lotions - it helps.

Mint, blackberries can serve as the simplest remedies for neuroses.

Alcohol tincture of mint is drunk in drops several times a day, choosing an individual dosage - from 10 to 30 - 40 drops.

From blackberry sprigs with leaves, crushing them, make a light decoction: pour 2 tablespoons with two glasses of water, bring to a boil, but do not boil, immediately remove from heat and filter. Drink half a glass 4 times a day before meals.

Some herbalists give an infusion of stinky basilisk herb for neuroses: 2 teaspoons per glass of boiling water, leave for 15 minutes and immediately strain. Take 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day.

With angioneurosis and vegetative neurosis, it is not sedatives that best manifest themselves, but, on the contrary, invigorating, tonic agents. Perfectly treats disorders of the nervous system alcohol extract of Rhodiola rosea - golden root. Drink 20 - 30 drops 3 times a day half an hour before meals in short courses of 2 - 3 weeks.

Stimulates the nervous system and Eleutherococcus tincture - it is taken 15 - 20 drops 2 times a day, morning and afternoon, half an hour before meals for four weeks.

Both drugs are able to increase pressure and are more suitable for hypotensive patients.

To no lesser extent, neurotic pains in the stomach cause suffering. A person has gastritis in the worst case, and thoughts focus on the worst: is it really cancer?

Of course you have to go medical examination, rule out the worst. And the disease is much easier to treat when an accurate diagnosis is established.

With nervous pains and spasms in the stomach, the surest and most harmless remedy is a freshly prepared, semi-hot infusion of chamomile. Approximately the same effect has an infusion of viburnum flowers - a full teaspoon brewed with a glass of boiling water. In folk medicine, it is often used for neurosis and viburnum bark. It is crushed, one teaspoon is poured with a glass of boiling water, kept for half an hour on low heat, not allowing boiling, or in a water bath. After straining, drink 1 tablespoon before meals.

Dry, lightly roasted viburnum seeds can be used to make coffee. This fragrant bitter drink, really reminiscent of the taste of coffee, tones up the stomach and intestines, has a calming effect on neuroses.

Gastric neuroses and some other diseases of the nerves are confidently treated with lemon balm. M. A. Nosal writes about her: “People use lemon balm inside. Napar, approximately 20.0 g per 1 liter of boiling water, with all types of nervous diseases, with stomach neurosis, when from unknown cause a person will feel severe pain in the stomach, as happens after strong mental shocks, from fright, grief, longing; with colic in the intestines and swelling, which occur even with the most strict abstinence in food, with migraines and inexplicable headaches; with increased heartbeat and dizziness, with vomiting in pregnant women, as well as with toothache, in the latter case in the form of a rinse. The water vapor of lemon balm is sometimes replaced with an alcohol extract: 1 part of the leaves by weight to 3 parts of alcohol. Take 3 times a day for a teaspoon of tincture in 1/3 cup of water.

I have been using Melissa for a long time, even before I got acquainted with the book “Medicinal plants in folk medicine” by M. A. Nosal and I. M. Nosal, and from the very beginning I preferred alcohol tincture for nervous and heart diseases. I prepared it in my own way: a little more than half of the jar of the dried plant was filled to the top with vodka, insisted for at least two weeks. The dosage was the same: 1 teaspoon 3 times a day, washed down with a few sips of water or diluted in a quarter glass of water.

Melissa has been known since ancient times. Paracelsus also wrote about her: “Inspired priestesses of ancient temples prepared a dynamizing drink from lemon balm.” Avicenna noted in lemon balm that it “helps with blockages of the brain and eliminates halitosis. Invigorates and strengthens the heart, stops the interruptions of the heart. Aids in digestion and helps with hiccups."

Melissa, being a southerner, in the middle lane and here, in the Urals, does not occur in the wild, many gardeners grow her in their gardens. For medicinal purposes, it is best to collect it at sunrise, until the dew has dried up, with the onset of the full moon, that is, when it is fully gaining healing powers.

With neuritis facial nerve caused by a cold, it is believed that white willow bark can help: 1 teaspoon, chopped, pour two glasses of boiled water at room temperature and leave overnight. The infusion time is at least 8 hours. After straining, drink 3-4 doses a day before meals. With this treatment, you can also carry out the following procedure: red-hot a steel sewing needle and prick with a sharp end, first a healthy cheek, then a sick one. Traces of microscopic burns very soon disappear without a trace, and then the disease itself disappears.

In the spring, shortly after the snow melts, bluish-violet bells of the open lumbago appear on the reviving hillocks or exactly the same large flowers of the lumbago turning yellow - it has a slightly elongated bell of a faded cream color. There is no other difference between these plants. Both are shaggy, as if well rolled in a silvery cobweb. They stand crouching on short stems, almost spread along the ground in the direction of the wind. Only by the time of flowering do they grow, just as the rosette of carved leaves begins to grow a little. This is the witch's dream herb, which has long faithfully served the magi, sorcerers, healers, greengrocers, healers for creating all kinds of drink from all misfortunes and ailments.

In ancient medical books they write: “When Satan was still a bright angel and in his pride he rebelled against the Creator, Michael the Archangel drove him from high heaven to damp earth. Satan with his demons hid behind the grass, and Michael the Archangel threw a thunderous arrow at him. An arrow shot through that grass from top to bottom, from that lumbago the demons fled and with Satan himself fell into the underworld. And from that very time, the demonic power is afraid of that grass and runs from it for 12 miles. It delivers from the vision of the eyes, from the lesson sorrows, from damage, from the influx and from any demonic obsession.

They collected sleep grass with various slander and rituals on a bright May morning, when the dew sparkled on the grass. According to popular beliefs, a dream grass flower can predict fate. It was lowered into cold spring or well water and kept until the full moon. A flower bent in water with the onset of the full moon began to move. And then they put him under the pillow at night. If you saw a young girl or a guy in a dream, it means to be happy. And if to grief - they saw death in a dream.

Sleep grass is now uncommon, especially in the surrounding area big cities and sat down, but only a hundred kilometers from Ufa I know one area where on the slopes of picturesque green hills with small birch groves it is found in abundance. You walk in the early morning hour through a flowering meadow, picking up grass in a basket, and you begin to feel some kind of strange languor, peace. The soul experiences unearthly pleasure, close to the feeling of the sweetest weightlessness, when you yourself seem to cease to exist and either dissolve in the world around you, losing your physicality, or, on the contrary, turn into a kind of clot of matter, absorbing the bottomless sky blue with the golden radiance of the rising of the sun, the tender baby greens of May grasses that have not yet risen to the growth of May grasses and small sticky birch leaves, and the frantic iridescent trills of nightingales... city crowd. You go to the house, carefully holding on your knees a basket of grass obtained by sleep, nodding, struggling with drowsiness, stubbornly calling to plunge into the sweet weightlessness of sleep.

AT popular name lumbago reflects its main essence: a herb that induces sleep. At all times, insomnia and other functional nervous diseases, migraine, neurasthenia, spasmophilia, neuroses, neuritis, neuralgia were treated with backache, numb body parts were rubbed with juice.

The old tried and tested remedy can be successfully used in our days, in particular for neuralgic pains. 2 teaspoons of grass should be poured with a glass of cooled boiled water, kept under the lid for a day. The infusion is drunk during the day in fractional portions. When using lumbago, it should be remembered that fresh grass poisonous, capable of causing inflammatory processes both on the skin and on the mucous membrane internal organs. After drying, sleep grass becomes harmless.

Simultaneously with the reception of a cold infusion of sleep herbs, poultices of thyme are made along the path of the diseased nerve. Take it 3 - 4 tablespoons, scalded with boiling water, wrapped in gauze and applied to the body. Soon the pain subsides.

With inflammation trigeminal nerve you can also use a simple folk remedy that brings relief. A cold infusion is being prepared: 4 teaspoons of marshmallow roots in a glass of boiled water at room temperature, leave for at least eight hours. This is done at night. In the morning, brew tea from medicinal chamomile: a teaspoon in a glass of boiling water, soak in a warm place for half an hour, strain. Dial a mouthful of it chamomile tea and hold as long as possible near the sore cheek. Outside, a compress is applied from several layers of gauze soaked in an altein infusion. over wax paper or plastic wrap to tie a warm scarf or scarf. After the compress, you also need warmth. The procedure is repeated several times a day. Treatment lasts until the pain disappears completely. If there is no marshmallow root, its flowers and leaves collected in summer can be replaced. They put 2 tablespoons in a glass of boiling water. An hour later, the infusion is ready for use.

RADICULITIS, LUMBAGO

Some recipes fell into my hands by accident. Once I visited the bazaar during the mushroom season. A golden glow emanated from the scatterings of chanterelles. Red-headed boletus, well-fed boletus rose on the shelves in impressive hills. No no yes caught the eye of porcini mushrooms. The merchants stood full of importance. How not to envy them, who collected such wealth early in the forest! But here my attention was attracted by a tanned, strong as a mushroom himself, old man boletus, with an imperturbable look selling ... red fly agarics. Yes, yes, those filthy mushrooms that any mushroom picker cautiously bypasses, never puts in a basket. Rarely did anyone approach the old man. Perhaps out of curiosity. I came up too. I asked how much a similar product is in the market. When I heard the price, I was amazed. Yes, and there was reason to be surprised, fly agarics were no cheaper than porcini mushrooms! Here are those on...

The old man garrulously explained: they say, how much use is there from chanterelles and boletus boletus? Well, fry it, eat it in one sitting. And you can make a healing potion from fly agarics, whole year be treated.

You chop up, dear, a couple of these beauties, fill them with a bottle of vodka and in a couple of weeks rub yourself against sciatica. As a hand will sweep ...

This recipe intrigued me. I started asking for details. It turns out that fly agarics should be kept cut for two days in a cool place, then, putting the cut pieces in a jar, pour so much vodka that it protrudes over the thickness of a finger. Put the jar in the cellar or refrigerator to maintain a uniform temperature. Strain after two weeks. Here is the drug. It relieves rheumatic pains well, and sciatica heals completely if rubbed regularly.

I bought a fly agaric from an old man. I could collect it myself, but I wanted to respect his work. Made medicine. In fact, it has helped several of my friends with sciatica. Since then, when I manage to get into the forest for mushrooms, red fly agaric does not bypass.

If the lumbosacral sciatica is caused by inflammation of the perional nerve, excellent results are obtained by treatment with the ball head. This plant is easily recognizable. The basal rosette of the leaves somewhat resembles the pattern of dandelion leaves, only they are much larger and have small prickly spines on the pointed tips. On tall, slender stems, reaching one and a half meters, beautiful smoky purple balls rest - the muzzle blooms in such a peculiar way, which is why, apparently, it got the name ball-headed. The size of the flower reaches the size of a billiard ball. It usually grows in weedy places both in the European part of the country, and in the Urals and Siberia.

On the medicinal purposes plant seeds are coming. In autumn, there is no trace of the former beauty: yellowish-gray lumps stick out on dry buds, bristling. Squeeze them - and the balls crumble in the palm of your hand into separate seeds, reminiscent of unmilled oats. Inside the seeds, if peeled, grains are hidden. They are soft, insidious, like glass wool, a shell of thousands of microscopic stings that pierce the skin and causing itching. As long as you clean the required number of grains, you will scratch yourself all over. Every now and then you have to, interrupting a tedious task, wash your hands with soap and water. But this hard work pays off with a vengeance. Mordovnik fruits are used for very serious nervous diseases: paresis and paralysis, plexitis, radiculitis, as well as multiple sclerosis, myopathy, poliomyelitis, in the treatment of the consequences of chronic radiation exposure. In scientific medicine, a very strong alkaloid echinopsin isolated from seeds is used.

For water infusion pour a glass of boiling water 2 - 3 teaspoons of grains, insist in a warm place all night. In the morning, filter through several layers of gauze, lined with cotton from the inside to hold the tiny spines. A glass is a daily dose divided into 3-4 doses.

I also make an alcohol extract: 5 g of peeled seeds (approximately one tablespoon without top) per 100 g of pure alcohol. Strain on the twenty-first day. Take 20 drops 2 times in the morning and evening. With sciatica, nerve function recovered after three to four weeks.

There are many folk remedies for those suffering from sciatica. Here's another one healthy recipe: 1 tablespoon of white water lily rhizomes, yellow capsules and elecampane in dried form, chopped, pour a bottle of vodka. Insist 9 days. Strain. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day before meals.

Eating pine nuts, I do not advise you to throw away the peel like garbage. From it you can prepare a medicine for allergic and other skin rashes, in a number of diseases, which will be mentioned later, as well as for sciatica. In the latter case, they take dried peel from two hundred grams of nuts, pour 1 liter of vodka and, tightly closed, clean it in a dark place for a month. Shake from time to time. After straining, the resulting tincture is taken on an empty stomach in a small glass of wine (25 - 30 ml) two or three times a day before meals.

Externally applied with sciatica fresh leaves burdock (smooth side), horseradish leaves, cabbage.

Horseradish roots are rubbed into gruel and rubbed with it on sore spots, not only with sciatica, but also with other severe joint pains, muscle pains in the back and lower back.

Rubbed with sciatica, juice squeezed from black radish is one of the most popular remedies. Or peeled radish is rubbed on a grater, the resulting slurry is slightly heated in an enamel bowl without cracks and chips. They take a linen rag, smear it on one half thin layer radish gruel, the other half is closed, like a pie with filling, and placed on the lower back. The patient should feel a slow and deep warming up and keep it as long as there is enough patience. Repeat in a day. “Sometimes it is enough to do several of these procedures to get rid of sciatica.

Severe pain shoots through the leg from the thigh to the heel, sometimes it does not allow a step to be taken. AT medical terminology this is lumbago, in everyday life - backache. I did not specifically deal with his treatment, but several times I had to help my friends, using folk recipes. In a porcelain mortar, I ground it into flour and sifted dry leaves of agrimony through a strainer. Measured out in sachets of 1 gram. Daily rate - 3 - 4 sachets. The powder is washed down with infusion of St. John's wort - a tablespoon of grass in one and a half cups of boiling water. He advised me to make poultices daily from a mixture of chamomile flowers and sweet clover. They must be taken in equal amounts, scalded with boiling water and, wrapped in gauze, applied in a semi-hot form to the place where the shooting pain originates. At night - rubbing alcohol tincture of henbane. To prepare the tincture, I pour 1 part of coarsely ground henbane leaves with 4 parts of diluted alcohol or vodka, keep it in the dark at a uniform temperature for two weeks, filter it. Henbane is very poisonous, so one procedure should take no more than one teaspoon. If rubbing is done with fingertips, you should immediately wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. In the morning, wipe the place of rubbing with a warm, damp cloth.

Such complex treatment gave good results.

When a person is often haunted by sciatica, traditional medicine recommends a simple collection: mix the crushed roots of burdock, dandelion, celandine in equal parts - only the roots. Pour 2 tablespoons in the evening with 1 liter of boiling water, insist until morning. In the morning, bring to a boil and cook over low heat for 5 minutes from the moment of boiling. Strain after ten minutes. Take half a glass 3 times a day before meals.

An even better result can be achieved by rubbing black radish juice into the skin along the nerve. It also helps with myasitis, intercostal neuralgia.

With sciatica, neuralgia, sciatica and plexitis, juniper berries are considered a good remedy. Only 10 berries are placed in 1 cup of boiling water, the dishes are covered with a lid and immediately placed in a pre-prepared boiling water bath for 15 minutes. After an hour, filter. Drink 1 tablespoon 4 times a day before meals. The course of treatment is not more than two weeks.

CONVERSIVE CONDITIONS

Not everyone knows that Linden blossom, which is widely popular as a reliable diaphoretic for colds, is able to treat nervous diseases. It all depends on how the drug is prepared.

Strong decoction - 5 tablespoons of crushed linden flowers with bracts per 0.5 liter of water, boil over low heat for 30 minutes - helps with neurosis, severe nervous breakdown, frequent fainting, convulsions.

In my opinion, a clearer anticonvulsant effect has alcohol tincture linden flowers. I made it from freshly dried flowers picked on a bright sunny afternoon. He filled the jar with a loose layer, without ramming, poured vodka to the very edge and removed the infusion for two or three weeks. Stale lime blossom does not give the desired effect, but the tincture can be stored for a long time, until the next harvest. You need to drink it in a teaspoon 3 times a day, and before going to bed, increase the dose to 1 tablespoon.

With hysteria, convulsions, convulsions, herbalists often use the meadow core, a plant from the cruciferous family. In the middle lane, the core is found almost everywhere, loves damp meadows, swampy lowlands, banks of rivers, lakes, oxbow lakes. Four-petalled flowers are white with a lilac tint or completely lilac in a racemose inflorescence. Soups are made from young leaves. Watch them and raw, in salads. They have a bitter, but very pleasant taste. In the reference literature it is mentioned very rarely, but in vain. With absolute harmlessness, the meadow core can help with colds and acute respiratory diseases, inflammatory processes in the oral cavity, rheumatism, dropsy and ascites that occurs with liver diseases, as well as diabetes. But its strongest action is manifested in nervous diseases with convulsions and hysterical fits.

For medicinal purposes, the tops of the stems with flowers are collected. 3 - 4 tablespoons of herbs are brewed with 0.5 liters of boiling water. After a two-hour infusion, they are allowed to drink one quarter and up to half a glass 4 times a day.

Linden flowers and core are harmless to the body, their accidental overdose is not dangerous. But when dealing with poisonous plants, one must be extremely careful. If the rules are not followed, they can, like snakes in the grass, sting deadly. And sometimes it is impossible to do without them. As for example, without dope, when there are seizures, convulsions, spastic speech disorders.

The patient is given in microdoses powdered dried leaves collected during flowering in early summer. The daily dose is only 0.1 grams. It is very difficult to weigh at home, so you can focus on the amount of sulfur scraped off four match heads.

It is easier to prepare an alcohol tincture from dope seeds. They must be ground in a mortar, then 1 part - by volume - pour 5 parts of alcohol. Strain after a week. Take 2 drops per tablespoon of water up to 3-4 times a day. Unlike leaves, it is easier to follow the exact dosage here.

The tincture bottle should be stored separately from other medicines, out of the reach of children.

Nervous twitches and all kinds of convulsions, as well as concussion, traditional medicine treats alcohol tincture of the crow's eye. This plant is easily recognizable: at the end of the bare stem there is a whorl of four large leaves, to some extent resembling lily of the valley leaves, and in the center a black pea berry with a bluish tint - like a crow's eye is looking at you. All parts of the plant are poisonous. If the berries have a therapeutic effect on the heart, then the leaves - on the nervous system.

The grass collected in May is insisted on vodka: 4 tablespoons per 0.5 liter. The resulting tincture is drunk 5 drops per spoon of water up to 5 times a day. You can dilute 2 teaspoons of tincture in a glass of water and take one tablespoon every two hours from morning to evening. In severe convulsive conditions, the same dose can be taken every hour, but not more than a glass per day.

It is best, of course, for the beginner herbalist to deal with the most innocuous remedies. What is easier, for example, brew 1 tablespoon of dill seeds in a glass of boiling water and leave for 2 hours. Give the patient 50 - 60 ml half an hour before meals 3 times a day, and there, you see, convulsions will stop repeating, nerves will calm down and sleep will become deeper, calmer.

And if, when convulsions appear, let a person hold a stick of sealing wax or a bar of iron in his hand, the convulsion will quickly pass. This has nothing to do with plants, but it does not hurt to know.

If it often cramps the calf muscle, then it is necessary to rub the soles of the feet well at night with a cut slice of lemon. Do until the spasms stop recurring. And eat at this time more foods rich in potassium.

EPILEPSY

In the old days, the sick, obsessed with epilepsy, were treated with superstitious fear. Epilepsy was thought to be an evil influence evil spirits. In Russia, there was the following method of treatment: a person who fell into unconsciousness during an attack was outlined around, overshadowed with a cross and began to mercilessly whip thistles in order to expel the devils who had settled in him. From here came the name of the plant - thistle, that is, causing a stir among the devils. Of course, having come to his senses, the unfortunate man began to yell with a good obscenity, because the thistle thorns are quite comparable to barbed wire.

True, even in those ancient times, among the ignorant doctors, there were smart heads who realized that it was much more useful not to smack the patient with thistles, but to give him a decoction of grass to drink. Such a decoction had a calming effect on the nervous system, softened or completely removed convulsive convulsions. There were cases when epilepsy was cured completely. Children were bathed in a decoction or fumigated with the smoke of burning dry tops of thistles, watered with a decoction of its roots when frightened, causing a sudden awakening in the middle of the night with a cry.

Often the thistle is called prickly tartar. Botanically, these plants are different, but they are very similar in the same effect on the nervous system: in small doses they excite, and in large doses they depress it, which is required to relieve convulsive phenomena in epilepsy.

The people for the decoction take 2 tablespoons of herbs for one and a half cups of boiling water. After insisting 4 hours, give half a cup to drink 3-4 times a day. From dried leaves, removing the thorns, you can make a powder and give the patient 1 teaspoon 3 times a day before meals. Drink some water. None side effects not observed even with prolonged use.

Many of us are familiar with the tall, athletically built handsome man of the herbal kingdom - hogweed. In early spring, soups are made from its young leaves. Peeled spring stems are edible raw. And sweet-tasting rhizomes, I remember from my military childhood, completely replace carrots.

In an extensive list of medicinal plants, hogweed is rarely found, and it is sparingly spoken of. One can only regret this, because there is a lot hidden in it. healing powers. Recall what Amirdovlat Amasiatsi wrote about him: “If you eat its seeds, it will dissolve mucus and help with diseases of the gallbladder and liver, with jaundice, suffocation and epilepsy, as well as with diseases of the uterus. If you do fumigation, it will help with excessive drowsiness. If its juice is mixed with olive oil and poured over the head, it will help with that disease called lethargy, as well as with headaches. If you make a poultice with wine and apply to rashes, it will also help. If you drink a decoction of the root, it will help with jaundice, liver disease and asthma. If the juice from a piece of root is squeezed onto fistulas, it will help a lot. If you squeeze the juice of the flower and drip into the ear, it will help with ear ulcers. And if you lubricate with hemorrhoids, it will also help.

Avicenna gives high marks to the cow parsnip, noting that "it is very useful for epilepsy." Avicenna, who is very strict and balanced regarding treatment recommendations, emphasizing the word "very" is used extremely rarely.

Since ancient times, not only here, but also in Bulgarian German folk medicine, hogweed has been used, not without success, to treat epilepsy and nervous convulsions.

Hogweed uses both grass and roots. There are various recipes: infusions, decoctions, alcohol tinctures, Fresh Juice. Infusions and decoctions are made from grass - 2 tablespoons per 0.5 liter of boiling water, insist 2 hours - this daily allowance. Dried roots are ground into powder and given 1 gram 3-4 times a day before meals (about 1/3 teaspoon). Very good fresh juice of rhizomes - a teaspoon several times a day.

Here is another of the most common recipes: chop the roots well, pour 5 teaspoons into two glasses of cold boiled water in an earthenware or porcelain dish and leave covered overnight. The roots must be infused for at least 8 hours. Stir in the morning, let the suspension settle. This cold infusion is drunk in 3-4 doses during the day.

Again, my low bow to Chernobyl! I have already said how it is used in bronchial asthma, malignant tumors. But his healing powers are not limited to this, and he will be mentioned more than once.

An aqueous infusion of grass and Chernobyl roots is effective for epilepsy. Suffice it to say that this medicinal plant is included in the pharmacopoeias of Switzerland, France, Norway, Brazil precisely as a means of treating epilepsy, as well as amenorrhea, diabetes mellitus. Scientific experiments have established the ability of Chernobyl herb to reduce neuromuscular conduction.

The usual rate of preparation of the infusion: 1 teaspoon of chopped herbs and roots per 1 cup of boiling water, insist in a thermos or in a hot oven for 8 hours. Take a third of a glass 3 times a day, determining individually - before or after meals. The treatment is long, but after 45 days it is necessary to take a break.

Oregano is popularly considered a reliable remedy for the treatment of epilepsy. Yes, the very sweetness that many lovers add to tea brewing for the sake of aroma.

To achieve success in treatment, you must have great patience and regularly, without interruption, take daily a quarter of an hour before eating an infusion of herb oregano. For this, 3 tablespoons are poured with one and a half glasses of boiling water, insisted for two hours and drunk warm, 100 g 3 times a day. The infusion is prepared fresh every day. Treatment lasts 3 years.

Siberian herbalists sometimes use swamp Belozor from epilepsy. It grows in wet alpine and subalpine meadows, in the tundra, along the banks of rivers and swamps, but not only in Siberia and the Far East, but also in the mountains of Central Asia, in the Caucasus. It is also found here, in the Urals, especially in the northern and mountainous regions. A remarkable, beautiful plant. Usually not tall - up to 30 - 40 centimeters, but with a large single flower at the end of a straight ribbed stem. Petals are white. Looking closely, you can see longitudinal greenish or yellowish-brown veins on them. The leaves are heart-shaped, forming a small basal rosette. Belozor refers to poisonous plants and requires careful handling.

Tibetan medicine recommends Belozor for kidney stones, as a choleretic and antipyretic, more often with intestinal diseases. In Mongolia, the herb is used as a cardiovascular remedy. In the Caucasus, a decoction of flowers is drunk for gonorrhea and leucorrhoea in women. In folk medicine in a number of countries, a decoction is considered effective for stomach cancer.

It is rare to find an indication of the use of Belozor in diseases of the nervous system, especially epilepsy, although it has now been experimentally established that the herb infusion regulates the cardiovascular and nervous systems.

For the treatment of epilepsy, a decoction is prepared: 1 tablespoon of dried grass with flowers is brewed with a glass of boiling water, steamed in a water bath for 10 minutes, filtered after cooling, stored in the refrigerator for up to three days. Take 1 to 3 tablespoons 3 to 4 times a day after meals. This gap in dosage is due to the age and body weight of the patient. Children are prescribed from 1 teaspoon to a dessert spoon. The course of treatment is 10 days. Repeat after the same amount of time. Usually no more than 4 courses are held. In between, take angelica root powder 0.5 grams 4-5 times a day.

In Chinese and Korean medicine, as well as in Siberia and the Far East, epileptics are treated with an alcohol tincture from the roots of the Baikal skullcap. Assign 20 drops 3 times a day for half an hour before meals. The roots insist in a ratio of 1:10.

The Baikal skullcap, whose distribution area begins in Transbaikalia, belongs to the family of labiales, and its close relatives are found in our middle lane - the skullcap is holly, tall, common, and dubious. All of them, including the Baikal one, have not yet been studied. It is known, for example, that all of them are able to lower blood pressure. Common skullcap, like Baikal, also has a calming effect and reduces nervous excitability. Both are able to treat bronchitis and other lung diseases, are beneficial for the liver, and heal wounds. And I won’t be at all surprised if the anticonvulsant effect of our common skullcap is experimentally proven, and then there will be no need for long trips to Transbaikalia for the scarce roots of its more successful brother in pursuit of fame.

Even as a child, I loved to feast on ruby-red berries of stone fruit. It can be found in almost any forest, albeit not abundantly, but you can collect a few handfuls. And to this day I do not neglect it, wandering through the forest in search of healing herbs - it perfectly quenches my thirst. The plant is also medicinal - decoctions of herbs and leaves are effective in inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, gallbladder and bladder, are used for nephrolithiasis, hernia, hemorrhoids, some women's diseases, metabolic disorders. Look how many useful properties a modest forest dweller has.

And once I read in one of the books that in Transbaikalia, a decoction of the leaves of the bone plant is successfully used for fright, stuttering and epilepsy. If it is usually customary to collect medicinal plants that are juicy, healthy, not spoiled by pests, then in this case, on the contrary, they are looking for bushes with brown and rusty spots on the leaves - the result of fungal diseases. They take them. Quickly dry, not allowing to stale, and prepare a decoction of 2 teaspoons or 1 tablespoon per glass of boiling water, boil over low heat for 5 minutes and after straining, give the patient to drink 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day 20 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is 10 days.

You can prepare from these leaves and alcohol tincture. For 100 grams of vodka put 1 tablespoon of crushed leaves, insist 2 - 3 weeks. Give the patient 30 - 40 drops 3 times a day 20 minutes before meals in a tablespoon of water. After a week and a half of treatment, take a break for the same period, then repeat.

Once I ran out of reserves of meadowsweet - meadowsweet. It's the end of February, you can't get grass from under the snow. Began to look for familiar herbalists. Nobody has. They don't collect. But in vain. It is needed for many diseases, including cancer. And the plant is not rare - in summer, damp lowlands and meadows are full of meadowsweet with its white fragrant panicles of flowers.

In epilepsy, roots are sometimes used: 1 teaspoon is poured with two glasses of boiling water, soared in a water bath for half an hour and after straining, they are allowed to drink one tablespoon 3-4 times a day before meals.

You can also use dried flowers: 1 teaspoon per glass of boiling water, hold for 15 minutes in a water bath. Take the same, 1 - 2 tablespoons before meals. It has now been experimentally proven that meadowsweet flowers have a calming and anticonvulsant effect on the central nervous system.

In summer, with epilepsy, fresh grass of the tenacious bedstraw is used. It must be crushed into a homogeneous gruel, pour 4 teaspoons with two glasses of boiling water. Strain after cooling. Take half a glass 4 times a day - drink not in one gulp, but in small sips, as if savoring, although this drink cannot be called a delicacy. But alas, medicine is medicine, and for the sake of alleviating the disease, you will do anything.

Dry bunches of eryngium can always be found in the bazaars of herbalists - this plant is popular. They suggest for nerve disease, insomnia and epilepsy: pour 1 tablespoon of grass with a glass of water, bring to a boil, but do not boil, but leave for another hour, take a small sip 3-4 times a day before meals. It is not necessary to go over the excess, the specified one is enough. Like, the disease will take away like a hand, if you use long time, a month to drink, a month to rest.

The eryngium is indeed indicated in nervous excitement, restless sleep with nightmares. It may also help someone with epilepsy, otherwise traditional medicine would not hold on to it so stubbornly, but I can’t draw my own conclusions for lack of stable results.

These few recipes, chosen by me from many others, are of course by no means a radical cure for epilepsy. They are really able to help someone, but it all depends on the root cause, nature and duration of the disease. The most difficult, and sometimes almost impossible, is to cope with the heredity encoded in the body. Then, in very severe cases, a significant relief of the patient's condition, the ability to make attacks more rare, softened, can be considered as success.

I will probably repeat myself again if I say that the treatment of many serious, chronic diseases with herbs requires a long time and perseverance. A combination of several plants is often used. And their choice is extensive. For example, in epilepsy, the people use the initial letter, wolfberry, elecampane, loosestrife willow, sweet clover, St. , dill, blueberries, forest chistets. There are more than forty herbs, roots, flowers, seeds on my list alone. Of these, I choose two or three plants, with rare exceptions, more. When one of my nephews was found to have clear signs epilepsy (not hereditary, but traumatic), he went well with valerian - an aqueous infusion of the root. Along the way, a series, cumin, cow parsnip were involved.

A cold infusion of valerian, as I have already noted, is given to babies 1 teaspoon each. Powder from the root of hogweed, taken at the tip of a knife - about a fifth of a gram - can be rolled into a pill with honey. Tea from the series is brewed with a straw yellow hue, each time fresh - up to one glass a day instead of water. Crushed cumin seeds should be poured with cold boiled water - 1 teaspoon per glass - and left under the lid overnight. Drink a tablespoon 3 times a day.

It is customary to look at the series only as an antiscrofulous remedy. But how many other advantages it has! Few people know that it is good for diseases of the joints - rheumatism, osteochondrosis, gout. It finds application in traumatic edema, bone fractures. Useful for duodenal ulcer diabetes. And with nervous diseases, too. In Tibetan medicine, it is considered to be among the plants that help with concussion. The briquetted string sold in the pharmacy is not suitable - except perhaps only for baths. And the grass itself is not suitable for every. Often it is collected at the beginning or during flowering. I have a different due date. I'm waiting for the time when tiny little black buttons with the beginnings of buds are clearly indicated - that means it's time. As soon as the buds turn yellow, I stop collecting. The collection time also matters - closer to the full moon, in the afternoon until sunset.

As for wild cumin, which is popular for gastrointestinal diseases, pancreatitis and cholecystitis, I have not seen any recommendations for nervous diseases, let alone epilepsy, in any of the reference books. But he believed Avicenna, who used cumin "from diseases of the nerves, from paralysis." Cardamana, as he calls wild cumin, "helps with epilepsy if taken on water." Amirdovlat Amasiatsi points out the same properties of cumin: “It helps with paralysis, epilepsy, all diseases of a cold nature, including diseases of the nerves.”

In any case, the specified complex of treatment has borne fruit. After eight months of treatment, the boy recovered. More than twenty-five years have passed since then, and it can be considered that the disease has disappeared forever.

It is not a sin to listen to the opinion of the ancient healers, to delve into the essence of the means they offer and draw their own conclusions.

“Dioscrides says in his book that the fruits of blackberry, if they are drunk with vinegar, help those who suffer from epilepsy,” writes Avicenna, referring to the ancient Greek doctor, and in other sections already independently indicates that the “fruits” are not only osokorya - black poplar, but white poplar also helps with epilepsy.

In folk medicine in many countries, for nervous diseases, including epilepsy, they use the medicinal peony, or the evading marin root. I once had to help young man suffering hereditary form epilepsy, and in alternation with other herbs, a tincture of flowers of a wild-growing peony evading showed itself well: 3 tablespoons of dried petals are poured into 0.5 liters of vodka, after a month of infusion, take a teaspoon three times a day. Avicenna points out that “the peony is useful for epilepsy, even if it is hung around the patient’s neck. They tried to hang a peony on its own around the neck and found that it was useful for epilepsy, because with the removal of the peony, epilepsy returned. This method of treatment is called symptomatic, it is gradually beginning to revive in our time and in some cases works well.

Among the antiepileptic drugs, Avicenna pointed to the tortuous gill: “It helps a lot with epilepsy”, to the creeping cinquefoil: “its leaves in wine give from epilepsy; they are drunk for thirty days."

Amirdovlat Amasiatsi in the book "Useless for the Ignorant", making frequent references to the authority of Avicenna, which is indisputable for him, gives a lot of his own observations. The value of his recommendations is that he points to plants that are well known to us and are popular. For example, he writes about calamus: “It will help with the curvature of the face, epilepsy and the cold nature of all nerves, and also eliminates forgetfulness, convulsions and tongue entanglement. It enlightens the mind and sharpens the senses. Its dose at the reception is half a gram. About hyssop he says: "It helps with epilepsy and diseases of the tongue." And about the initial medicinal letter, referring to dried leaves: “If you take 1 dram with water, it will help with epilepsy and dementia and cure liver disease.” One dram is equal to 2.942 grams, that is, you can determine the exact dosage for yourself.

arachnoiditis, encephalitis

Brain inflammatory processes are removed very difficultly, doctors know it. And sometimes they are not able to help at all, as in the case about which I am going to tell.

One young woman, who endured on her feet sadly - the formidable Hong Kong flu of 1977, received a complication on her head. By the way, a few years before that, she suffered arachnoiditis - inflammation of the arachnoid membrane of the brain. Now the diagnosis turned out to be more severe: post-influenza infectious allergic encephalitis. Experienced professors dropped their hands in despair: “We would put you on your feet if you were given antibiotics ...” And her body no longer accepted even such aids as injections of aloe preparations and vitamins. There was a violent rejection of any medication. The further the condition worsened. The patient was exhausted from the strongest attacks of headache, lost her sight, mobility - she could not take two steps on her own. They gave me a disability, but this mercy, unfortunately, does not heal.

I, as a sin, the choice of herbs was not very rich. It would be possible to prepare preparations from nutmeg, Voronov's snowdrop, common harmala, but all these plants are southern, you will not always get to them. I had to make the most of what I had.

We started with valerian. Not from the pharmacy, but water infusions of the root of a wild plant. (Valerian grown on industrial plantations is much weaker). The medical literature does not recommend taking valerian for more than two months in a row, otherwise headaches, anxiety, and disruption of the gastrointestinal tract may appear. But here it was, as they say, not up to fat, to be alive. On the contrary, it was valerian that to some extent managed to muffle headaches, a heightened sense of fear, photophobia, and aversion to food.

The brain turned out to be affected in the region of the crown, and the external application of a concentrated tincture of burnet root was directed there. Crushed, they are poured with diluted alcohol or vodka just enough to let them swell and be in a state of liquid slurry. After straining, only about a hundred grams of dark cherry medicine came out of half a liter of alcohol taken for tincture.

The tincture was rubbed into the scalp 2-3 times a day, sometimes more often. The application is also long-term. This is a very strong anti-inflammatory agent for arachnoiditis, encephalitis, meningitis.

Over the course of two years, I alternated valerian with an alcoholic tincture of the Mary root - an evasive peony. A tablespoon of ground root was poured into 100 g of vodka for 9 days. He gave to drink for a month 40 - 50 drops 3 times a day. After a two-week break, the course was repeated.

These were the three pillars on which the treatment rested. As aids gave an infusion of dry grass winter-loving umbrella - a teaspoon for half a glass of boiling water, leave warm for 2 hours, drink a sip 3-4 times a day. In the spring, he gave a tablespoon of juice squeezed from freshly picked dandelions before meals. A series served as an antiallergic agent.

From severe hypotension, I tried to use tinctures of golden root, eleutherococcus, leuzea, zamaniha, but they were poorly tolerated, and then alcohol tincture of mordovnik came to the rescue: 5 grams of peeled seeds per 100 grams of vodka. After three weeks of infusion, 10 to 15 drops were prescribed 2 to 3 times a day. This not only helped to move from a critical point and raise the pressure to the required level, but also reduced headaches, had a positive effect on myopathy - muscle weakness, and improved heart function. Mordovnik is little studied, rarely mentioned, and even more rarely finds practical application. But here I had full opportunity to see how it works beneficially in lesions of the central and peripheral nervous system.

The first year was especially hard. At times it seemed that all efforts were in vain, that cruel diencephalic crises would never stop. The patient's legs did not obey. She had to overcome herself, learn to walk two or three steps, holding on to the table. The struggle for life lasted almost two years, and all this time herbal treatment was going on - under the forced passive supervision of doctors. They only occasionally took cardiograms, encephalograms, wrote out prescriptions for dimedrol and some types of tranquilizers, which the body began to perceive over time.

Post-influenza encephalitis is terrible because after it the patients practically do not recover, the survivors go blind, deaf, lose their mobility. My patient was removed from disability soon after the treatment, she returned to work and is working to this day.

PARALLIES

This is very familiar to me. In early 1981, only seven months after a severe heart attack, I had a stroke: left-sided paralysis with severe paresis of the facial nerve. From January to May he was in the hospital and was discharged, as noted in such cases, with some improvement, although the left eye did not close, his mouth remained twisted, and when walking he dragged his leg. I am very grateful to the doctors, they really helped with everything they could. I took care of the rest of the treatment. He did not neglect the prescribed medicines, however, he chose the least toxic of them. The main emphasis was on herbs, starting to use them even in hospital conditions. As a result of such additional self-treatment, already in the summer I was able to get out into the mountain forest area in the upper reaches of the Inzer, lived in a tent, fished for graylings in a mountain river, and collected taiga herbs.

Of the recipes I'm not going to make a secret. Maybe they'll help someone else.

For oral administration, a marin root is useful, and in this case, not so much the root itself, but the grass collected at the beginning of flowering. The infusion is prepared from 2 teaspoons per glass of boiling water, infusion time is 4 hours. Herbalists usually prescribe 1 - 2 tablespoons per reception, 3 times a day, but in some cases and not for a long time - up to 3 - 4 weeks - a dose of up to a quarter cup is allowed. Then a break for 10 days.

At the same time with herbal infusions you should drink mummy. I used it almost from the first days of illness, dissolving a lump the size of a match head in 20 ml of water - in the morning on an empty stomach and shortly before lunch.

To strong means refers dope. The recipe is given in the section on convulsive conditions, however,
