Pharmacodynamics of the drug Elkar

A drug for the correction of metabolic processes.

L-carnitine is a natural substance related to B vitamins. Participates in metabolic processes as a carrier of long-chain fatty acids(including palmitic) through cell membranes from the cytoplasm to the mitochondria, where these acids undergo the process of β-oxidation with the formation of ATP and acetyl-CoA.

Improves protein and fat metabolism, increases secretion and enzymatic activity gastric and intestinal juices, improves food absorption, reduces overweight body and reduces fat content in muscles. Increases resistance to physical exercise, inhibits the formation of ketoacids and anaerobic glycolysis, reduces the degree of lactic acidosis, promotes economical consumption of glycogen and increases its reserves in the liver and muscles.

Elcar® has anabolic and lipolytic effects. Normalizes increased basal metabolism in hyperthyroidism, being a peripheral (indirect) antagonist of the action of thyroid hormones, and not a direct inhibitor of thyroid function.

Improves metabolism and energy supply to tissues.

Pharmacokinetics of the drug Elkar

Suction and distribution

After oral administration, it is well absorbed in the intestine, Cmax is reached after 3 hours. Therapeutic concentration is maintained for 9 hours. It penetrates well into the liver, myocardium, and more slowly into the muscles.

Metabolism and excretion

It is excreted by the kidneys, mainly in the form of acyl esters.

Use of the drug Elkar during pregnancy

Description of the dosage form

pharmachologic effect

Taurine prevents the removal of potassium from the myocardium, which promotes normalization heart rate and contractile function of the heart. L-arginine, relaxing the smooth muscles of all blood vessels, ensures normal blood flow and oxygen delivery to the heart muscle, brain and limbs. In addition, it acts as a donor of nitric oxide, which ensures proper blood microcirculation and stimulates the formation of new blood vessels. Magnesium is the most significant tissue macronutrient human body by quantitative content in cells. Magnesium has a direct cardioprotective effect, reducing myocardial oxygen demand and reducing heart rate. Magnesium is a key element in ensuring normal heart rhythm. In addition, the need for magnesium increases along with an increase in cholesterol levels in the blood, since magnesium is involved in relaxation muscle fiber and reduces platelet aggregation ability. Thanks to complex action taurine, L-arginine, magnesium Elcardio™ provides triple support of cardio-vascular system, maintaining a healthy rhythm of your heart!

Pharmacokinetics

Elkar indications for use

  • Elkar is used as part of complex therapy for acute hypoxic conditions (acute cerebral hypoxia, ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attack). The drug is prescribed in acute, subacute and recovery periods of disorders cerebral circulation. Used for dyscirculatory encephalopathy and various traumatic and toxic lesions brain, in recovery period after surgical interventions. Amino acids and vitamin-like substances are activators of a wide variety of biological processes. One of these amino acids is L-carnitine (levocarnitine), which is structurally reminiscent of B vitamins.

Despite the fact that this amino acid is synthesized in the body, there are a number of diseases and developmental abnormalities in which there is a deficiency. In order to replenish the existing deficiency, the drug Elkar was synthesized.
