Progesterone injections: in what cases are they necessary? Progesterone injections - instructions, use, dose, analogues, side effects.

Physiology female body is uniquely designed and represents complex mechanism. From the age of twelve, the body is preparing to fulfill its reproductive function. The inner mucous layer of the uterus (endometrium) serves as a medium for the implantation of the embryo and is responsible for its nutrition throughout pregnancy.

If conception does not occur, the endometrium begins to exfoliate, that is, the internal uterine lining is rejected. This process is called menstruation. If conception has occurred, then bloody issues stop.

But there are situations when interruption of menstruation occurs for completely different reasons. Therefore, after making sure that there is no pregnancy, girls are looking for a way to provoke the resumption of menstrual periods. Doctors recommend using it to induce menstruation. Instructions on how to inject and what dosage to use can only be answered by a doctor. Self-administration of the drug can cause significant damage to the body, disrupting the functioning of the reproductive, endocrine and other systems.

What is progesterone?

is a female sex hormone that is produced in the adrenal cortex and ovaries. This hormone is a precursor to the uterine lining. On its basis, the endometrium is formed, which creates a favorable environment for conception and gestation. If conception does not occur, progesterone activates the process of endometrial rejection, and, consequently, the onset of menstruation. If in a female body low progesterone, this may cause a delay in menstruation or complete absence.

Progesterone deficiency is the most common cause menstruation is delayed, so many doctors prescribe progesterone injections to induce menstruation without additional hormonal tests. This is strictly prohibited, since hormonal imbalances, and as a result, interruptions in the menstrual cycle, can occur as a result of various etiologies. An increase in the level of the sex hormone is as harmful as its low level.

Many doctors use synthetic injections of the hormone progesterone to induce menstruation. Instructions, even in official sources, do not provide permission for unauthorized use. Therefore, you can buy the drug only after a doctor’s prescription and presentation of a prescription at the pharmacy.

The synthetic substitute and the natural sex hormone progesterone have the same effect, so they can serve as a good alternative. But independent input can provoke a number of side effects, which can only be dealt with with the help of a professional physician.

In what situations are progesterone injections prescribed?

When you go to the hospital and complain about a delay or absence of menstruation, the doctor may prescribe progesterone injections. But this appointment can only follow after all laboratory research to identify hormonal levels.

The drug may be prescribed in the following cases:

  • the presence of amenorrhea syndrome - absence of menstrual flow for several months or oligomenorrhea - the delay period is more than two months and can reach several years;
  • inferior menstrual cycle– characterized by pathological eggs that do not mature completely, and the mucous membrane is renewed;
  • the presence of bleeding in the intervals between the chronology of the normal menstrual cycle;
  • critically short period menstruation or heavy periods;
  • duration of bleeding long time after the expected end of menstruation;
  • increased pain during menstruation after a slight delay.

In some cases (for example, long delays, short cycles or absence of menstruation), it is necessary to make sure that the woman is not pregnant. If this is not confirmed, then the doctor prescribes progesterone if there is a delay in order to induce menstruation.

In frequent cases, 5–10 injections of the drug are enough to completely normalize the monthly cycle. If after taking there are no periods or the latter are accompanied by severe pain, it is necessary to undergo a re-examination by a specialized physician and take additional tests. Perhaps a more serious pathology lies under the lack of progesterone.

The hormone can also be administered to pregnant women, since progesterone deficiency does not allow the fetus to develop under optimal conditions.

The drug is indicated for pregnant women in the following cases:

  • with a possible threat of miscarriage;
  • when insufficient functioning is detected corpus luteum;
  • if previous conceptions ended in fetal rejection;
  • with diagnosed infertility.

And, most importantly, if laboratory tests revealed a low level of progesterone.

Progesterone is also prescribed during menopause to normalize hormonal balance and regulation of the level of natural progesterone, estrogen and testosterone in the female mature body.

How to give progesterone injections and in what dosage?

Progesterone injections are administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously (the method is determined by the doctor). Before inserting the ampoule with ready-made solution needs to be warmed up in your hand. This procedure is done to make drug administration less painful. To induce menstruation, progesterone is used at a concentration of 1%, 2%, 2.5% (a mixture of progesterone with olive or almond oil).

The required dosage and course duration are determined by a qualified physician. Doses are determined depending on the level of natural progesterone available in the body and the cause of its deficiency. If the patient does not have any contraindications or negative predisposition to the active ingredient, the dosage is determined by the standard method.

  • Daily entry into determined by the doctor dose, within 7 days causes delayed menstruation.
  • At heavy bleeding after long delay for menstrual flow, a synthetic substitute is administered daily at a dose of 0.5–1.5 ml for a week.
  • In order to prevent painful menstruation, 1% progesterone is administered as preventative measure a week before the start of the critical days.

Other doses of the drug are prescribed strictly by the doctor and are individual in nature.

Side effects

Like anyone pharmaceutical drug, injections Progesterone has a number of side effects and contraindications to the use of the hormonal substance.

The introduction of progesterone can cause the following negative reactions in the body:

  • increased blood pressure;
  • negative effects on the liver, which may result in jaundice;

  • progressive problems with gastrointestinal tract which manifest themselves in the form of nausea and vomiting;
  • with systematic use of the drug, functionality is impaired endocrine system: decreasing sexual attraction to the opposite sex, occurs speed dial body weight, arise painful sensations in the nipple part of the mammary glands, arbitrary uterine bleeding may occur;
  • with a long course of taking the drug, the nervous system suffers, which affects the general psycho-emotional state, regular headaches appear, and severe depression develops.

These may stop after you stop taking the hormonal drug progesterone.

In what situations is the use of progesterone prohibited?

The wide range of contraindications that progesterone has confirms its unsafe use for self-administration. Treatment must be carried out under strict medical supervision, and the therapy itself is prescribed only after complex diagnostics and passing the necessary tests.

Taking progesterone as an artificial filler for a deficient hormone is prohibited if you have the following concomitant pathologies:

  • cancer of the uterus, ovaries and other genital organs;
  • malignant tumors in the mammary gland;
  • poor functioning of the liver with various etiologies;
  • hepatitis;

  • pathologies of the cardiovascular system: hypertension, heart failure, the presence of thrombosis in the vessels or a tendency to their formation, atherosclerosis, hypertrophy of the right or left ventricle of the myocardium and other diseases;
  • diabetes;
  • pathological condition respiratory system: bronchial asthma, allergic pathologies respiratory tract and so on.;
  • epilepsy;
  • violations nervous system, which manifest themselves in the form of regular psycho-emotional disorders and depression.

In addition, taking progesterone during the period of planning conception, in the third trimester of pregnancy and during lactation is not recommended.

A woman's hormonal background is in perfect balance. If for some reason the level of one hormone decreases, this provokes an increase or decrease in another, and so on with all the hormones of the body. Therefore, before resorting to hormonal drugs, you need to be 100% sure that the diagnosis is correct.

Not correct diagnosis entails incorrect treatment, which will cause significant damage not only to the reproductive system, but also to the entire body. If necessary therapeutic measures With progesterone injections, you should not self-medicate or administer increased doses of the drug. Healthy body– this is the perfect balance of all its parts.

Transparent oily liquid from light yellow color until golden yellow

Pharmacotherapeutic group

Sex hormones and modulators of the reproductive system. Progestogens. Derivatives of pregnene. Progesterone

ATX code G03DA04

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacokinetics

It is quickly and almost completely absorbed after subcutaneous and intramuscular administration. Metabolized in the liver to form conjugates with glucuronic and sulfuric acid. The isoenzyme CYP2C19 is also involved in metabolism. The main product of progesterone conversion is biologically

active pregnanediol. Pregnanediol, after conjugation with glucuronic acid, enters the blood from the liver and then into the urine. A smaller portion of progesterone is converted to pregnanolol and pregnandione. All progesterone metabolites excreted in the urine are inactive.

The half-life T1/2 is several minutes. Excreted by the kidneys - 50-60%, with bile - more than 10%. The amount of metabolites excreted in the urine varies depending on the phase of the corpus luteum.

Pharmacodynamics

Hormone of the corpus luteum, has a gestagenic effect. By binding to receptors on the surface of cells of target organs, it penetrates into the nucleus, where,

activating DNA, stimulates RNA synthesis. Promotes the transition of the uterine mucosa from the proliferation phase caused by follicular hormone to the secretory phase, and after fertilization creates the necessary conditions for implantation and development of a fertilized egg. Reduces excitability and contractility of the uterine muscles and fallopian tubes, stimulates the development of the end elements of the mammary gland. By stimulating protein lipase, it increases fat reserves, increases glucose utilization, increasing the concentrations of basal and stimulated insulin, promotes the accumulation of glycogen in the liver, increases the production of aldosterone; in small doses it accelerates, and in large doses it suppresses the production of gonadotropic hormones of the pituitary gland; reduces azotemia, increases nitrogen excretion in urine. It inhibits the action of aldosterone, which leads to increased secretion of sodium and chlorine in the urine. It has a catabolic and immunosuppressive effect.

Activates the growth of the secretory section of the acini of the mammary glands and induces lactation. Promotes the development of normal endometrium.

Indications for use

Amenorrhea

Anovulatory uterine bleeding

Endocrine infertility, including those caused by insufficiency of the corpus luteum

Miscarriage

Oligomenorrhea

Algodysmenorrhea (against the background of hypogonadism)

Directions for use and doses

Before use, the ampoule with the drug is slightly heated in a water bath (up to 30-40˚C). If crystals fall out, the ampoule is heated in a boiling water bath until they are completely dissolved. Administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously.

For hypogonadism and amenorrhea, administer (immediately after using estrogen drugs) 5 mg daily or 10 mg every other day for 6-8 days.

For anovulatory uterine bleeding the drug is prescribed 5-15 mg daily for 6-8 days. If the mucous membrane of the uterine cavity has been previously scraped, then injections should begin after 18-20 days. If curettage is not possible, the drug is also administered during bleeding. In this case, bleeding may temporarily (for 3-5 days) increase; For patients with moderate to severe anemia, it is recommended that a blood transfusion (200-250 ml) be performed beforehand. If bleeding has not stopped after 6-8 days of treatment, further administration of progesterone is not advisable. If bleeding has stopped, treatment should not be interrupted before 6 days.

For the prevention and treatment of threatened miscarriage caused by insufficient function of the corpus luteum, 10-25 mg daily or every other day until the risk of miscarriage is completely eliminated. In cases of recurrent miscarriage, the drug can be administered up to the 4th month of pregnancy.

For algodismenorrhea, to reduce or eliminate pain, the drug should be administered 6-8 days before menstruation, 5-10 mg daily for 6-8 days. The course of treatment can be repeated several times. Higher one-time and daily dose intramuscularly is 25 mg (2.5 ml of 1% solution or 1 ml of 2.5% solution). Treatment with progesterone of algodismenorrhea associated with underdevelopment of the uterus can be combined with the preliminary administration of estrogen drugs.

Interaction with other drugs

Progesterone weakens the effect of drugs that stimulate myometrial contraction (oxytocin, pituitrin), anabolic steroids(retabolil, nerobol), gonadotropic hormones of the pituitary gland. When interacting with oxytocin, the lactogenic effect is reduced. Enhances the effect of diuretics, antihypertensive drugs, immunosuppressants, bromocriptine and systemic coagulants. Reduces the effectiveness of anticoagulants. The effect of progesterone decreases with simultaneous use barbiturates. Modifies the effects of hypoglycemic agents. When used simultaneously with liver enzyme inducers, an increase or decrease in the concentration of progesterone in the blood plasma is possible.

Special instructions.

Should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, chronic renal failure, diabetes mellitus, bronchial asthma, epilepsy, migraine, depression, hyperlipoproteinemia.

Progesterone should also be used with caution in patients with mental disorders history, the drug should be discontinued when the first signs of depression appear.

In patients diabetes mellitus Blood glucose levels must be carefully monitored.

When using Progesterone, you must be careful early signs and symptoms of thromboembolism, and if they occur, drug therapy should be discontinued.

Since the metabolism of steroid hormones occurs in the liver, Progesterone should not be used in patients with impaired liver function.

At long-term use Large doses of Progesterone may stop menstruation.

The drug should not be used for bleeding from the genital tract, the cause of which has not been established, and for patients with a history of peripheral arterial disease. During treatment, regular examinations are recommended, the frequency and scope of which are determined individually.

If you have any progesterone-dependent tumor, for example, meningioma in the past and/or its progression during pregnancy or previous hormone therapy, patients must be under close medical supervision.

Pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy, the drug is used only for the prevention and treatment of threatened miscarriage. In the II-III period of pregnancy, the use of the drug is contraindicated. The drug is not used for women planning pregnancy in the near future. Risk congenital anomalies, including sexual anomalies in children of both sexes, associated with the action of exogenous progesterone during pregnancy has not been fully established. Progesterone penetrates into breast milk Therefore, the drug should not be used during breastfeeding.

The drug is not used for children.

Features of the effect of the drug on the ability to drive a vehicle or potentially dangerous mechanisms.

The drug may cause dizziness and drowsiness. During the treatment period, it is necessary to refrain from driving vehicles and potentially engaging in activities dangerous species activities requiring increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Overdose

When using higher doses drugs occur more often side effects, described in the corresponding section. If side effects occur, treatment with the drug should be stopped, and after they disappear, continue in smaller doses. If necessary, carry out symptomatic treatment.

Release form

1 ml of solution for injection in glass ampoules or glass ampoules with a break ring.

10 ampoules of the drug along with instructions for medical use in the state and Russian languages, and a ceramic cutting disk for opening ampoules (if necessary) is placed in a pack of cardboard box with a partition or corrugated insert, or with a polymer insert made of polyvinyl chloride film for placing and fixing the ampoules.

Progesterone injections are a drug of synthetic origin that is used to eliminate various functional disorders of the reproductive system. Also, progesterone injections can be prescribed by a specialist to treat certain forms of infertility that occur in the fair half of the population and to restore the normal menstrual cycle.

During pregnancy, such injections can be prescribed during the period when there is a threat of miscarriage, as well as when there is a decrease in natural level progesterone in the body. To determine the insufficiency of the hormone level in the blood, a woman needs to undergo certain tests on the twenty-third day from the start of her critical days. Only a laboratory blood test can give exact result about whether hormone therapy is necessary.

Most often, drug injections are administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The most common method is intramuscular injection, since this method is considered less painful. But subcutaneous administration of the drug is often accompanied by compactions and even hematomas. Progesterone in ampoules is available in the form of 1 and 2.5% solutions of one milliliter. After the injection, the drug is very quickly absorbed into the blood and its effect begins within an hour after administration.

Decomposing in the patient’s liver, the medicine is excreted from the body in the urine in the form of metabolic products. Before use, the ampoule with the medicine must be held in your hand so that the medicine has time to warm up. This action ensures oil composition maximum absorption into the patient's blood.

If crystals are visible when the ampoule is cleared, then it is advisable to first heat it in a water bath until completely dissolved, and then cool it to room temperature. Dosage this drug is exclusively individual and should be selected only by a qualified specialist.

Based on the indications obtained as a result of laboratory tests, the specialist makes a decision on prescribing the drug. Let's consider the main indications for use:

  • Natural lack of natural hormone levels in the female body;
  • Bleeding that occurs and has nothing to do with menstrual periods;
  • The drug can be prescribed to adjust the length of the menstrual cycle, and the specialist must first make sure that the woman is not pregnant;
  • Heavy menstrual cycle;
  • Low level of progesterone in the blood of the expectant mother;
  • If there is a threat of miscarriage;
  • If a woman has already had several unsuccessful attempts at pregnancy, which ended in spontaneous rejection of the fetus;
  • Insufficient level of corpus luteum in the female body.

Any need for injections is determined only by taking a blood test. To reduce pain when using the drug, you must follow certain instructions. It is important to ensure that the specialist knows exactly how to inject the medicine.

In addition to indications for use, there are also instructions on contraindications, which include: breastfeeding, the last month of pregnancy, planned pregnancy, any cancer mammary glands and epilepsy. If any point is present, injecting the drug is strictly prohibited.

Experts strongly recommend not to self-medicate and prescribe the dosage of the drug, since such actions are fraught with unwanted side effects, which can ultimately have a very negative impact on your health.

According to the instructions, the drug should be used with extreme caution for patients who suffer from asthma, renal failure and tubal pregnancy. It is also prohibited to drink alcohol-containing drinks during treatment, as such interactions can significantly increase the risk of side effects and increase their severity.

Possible consequences

Before using the drug, it is important to carefully read the instructions, which can be found inside each package. As a rule, a long course of treatment can cause the following pathological changes in the body:

  • Increased arterial pressure and swelling;
  • After injections, nausea, vomiting and liver dysfunction may occur;
  • Depressive state and systematic headaches;
  • After the injections, there is a rapid gain in body weight, a significant decrease in libido, the mammary glands become coarser and become painful;
  • There is an increase in blood clotting;
  • Increased drowsiness;
  • Appearance allergic reactions for a medicinal product;
  • The injection sites become painful.

Most patients note that after a course of injections they disappear critical days, this condition can be explained by many reasons, which are best found out using ultrasound examination and additional consultation with your doctor.

It is very important to follow the instructions and observe the permitted dosage of the drug; for example, a 2.5% solution can only be injected one milliliter at a time. This drug can be taken in combination with vitamins and dietary supplements.

Release form and storage conditions

Today, progesterone can be found not only in the form of injections, but also in the form of tablets, capsules and gel. Progesterone tablets are prescribed in medical practice for oral administration, in capsules - for intravaginal administration, and the gel is accordingly intended only for external use.

The effectiveness of the drug in the form of tablets and capsules is much more noticeable than using the gel. The tablets, once inside the body, are quickly absorbed into the patient’s blood, due to which healing effect achieved after a few hours.

Recently, experts are increasingly prescribing progesterone tablets or capsules for use, and injections are gradually fading into the background. This is due to the pain of the injections and their incorrect administration, which is very often accompanied by the occurrence of hematomas. Many experts have come to the conclusion that the use of tablets will be safer for patients, especially since they are in no way inferior in effectiveness to injections.

The drug progesterone can be purchased at any pharmacy, however, it is dispensed strictly according to the prescribed prescription. According to the instructions, it should be stored at a temperature of fifteen to twenty-five degrees in a place protected from children. Shelf life at proper storage is five years from the date of release; after the specified period, it is best not to take risks and not use the drug.

The average price for a package of injections is two hundred rubles and may vary depending on the manufacturer, the number of tablets in the package and the region of the country in which you live. If the patient cannot afford such a cost, then the specialist can write a prescription for similar medicines, which will have the same pharmacological effect, but will cost less.

Regarding reviews of medicine, then they are mostly positive and many women who had problems with normal gestation child, note the effectiveness of use. However, you can also stumble upon negative reviews, which are mainly associated with the occurrence of side effects from the use of the drug.

Despite the fact that some representatives of the fair sex did not note any changes that affected their health. But be that as it may, you shouldn’t try to self-medicate based on reviews alone; it’s best to get examined, and then use progesterone according to the instructions.

  1. Pregnancy failures.
  2. Infertility.

The structure of the female body resembles a clockwork mechanism. For it to work properly, the doctor prescribes progesterone: injections of this drug help normalize the functioning of a woman’s body. Everything in it is interconnected, and if one thing is disrupted, the entire system will suffer. Especially if we're talking about O hormonal background. For example, it is responsible for the female body’s ability to bear fruit. It stands out thanks to proper operation corpus luteum and adrenal cortex. This synthetic hormone has another name - gestagen.

Gestagens play important role in the functioning of the reproductive system of the female body, they cause certain changes in the inner layer of the uterus and prepare it for the implantation of a fertilized egg. In addition, progesterone reduces the ability to contract the muscles of the pregnant uterus and fallopian tubes. It has a positive effect on the development of the mammary glands, thereby allowing the woman’s body to properly prepare for pregnancy. Doses of the drug, contraindications and indications for use, the technique of introducing the drug into the body are regulated by the instructions for use.

The main indications for taking this hormone in injection form may be the following:

  1. Amenorrhea is the complete absence of menstruation.
  2. A menstrual cycle in which the ovary does not release an egg.
  3. Pregnancy failures.
  4. Infertility.
  5. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
  6. Menstruation, which is accompanied by severe pain. The reason for this is a violation of the development of the genital organs.

But main reason The reason why many women resort to taking progesterone is the inability to become pregnant and carry healthy child.

Why are progesterone injections needed?

Injections of a hormone-containing drug allow artificial methods, by injection, replenish the missing amount of hormones in a woman’s body. Symptoms, after the manifestation of which injections are prescribed, are most often the following:

  1. The test results showed that there is a deficiency of this hormone in the woman’s body.
  2. The presence of bleeding between menstruation (fixed over several cycles).
  3. Irregular cycle, periods take too long or, conversely, 1-2 days. In this case, you need to make sure that the woman is not pregnant.
  4. Too much copious discharge during menstruation.
  5. ECO. The task of progesterone in this case is to help the egg take root in the uterus, reduce the level of uterine tone, and promote the growth of its tissues.

Pregnant women have their own signs, according to which the attending physician decides to prescribe additional progesterone injections. These are:

  • there is a threat of miscarriage;
  • there is a very low level of progesterone in the mother’s body;
  • insufficient functioning of the corpus luteum was recorded;
  • The woman's previous pregnancies ended in miscarriage.

But in any case, in order to prescribe progesterone, the doctor must conduct full examination patients. Namely, you need to get tested for hormones and make sure that progesterone is really weakly secreted.

You should not resort to treatment with this drug without being examined by a doctor and undergoing appropriate tests, otherwise you can cause irreparable harm to the body.

Compliance with dosage

If we are talking about bleeding that is associated with ovarian dysfunction, progesterone 2 5 is prescribed in doses of 5-15 mg for 6-8 days daily. Do not forget that if on the eve of treatment a woman had the mucous membrane of the uterine cavity scraped, hormone injections should be started only 18-20 days after this. If curettage cannot be done, injections are given during bleeding. However, this may cause it to last 3-5 days.

If a woman has a fixed low hemoglobin, necessary in mandatory first perform a blood transfusion. Hormone treatment should be started only after 6-8 days, in cases where the treatment does not bring the desired result and the bleeding does not stop.

If a woman is diagnosed with underdevelopment of the genital organs, the course should begin with estrogen treatment, and only after inner layer the uterus will grow, inject progesterone. Injections must be administered 5 mg daily or every other day 10 mg, the treatment period is approximately 6-8 days.

When a woman experiences menstrual irregularities, which is characterized by painful menstruation, progesterone can eliminate or reduce pain. This treatment should begin 6-8 days before the onset of next menstruation. Injections are prescribed in doses of 5 mg daily or 10 mg every day, the treatment period is 6-8 days.

Progesterone should also be taken if there is a threat of miscarriage. Prevention lasts until the doctor excludes the possibility of miscarriage. The reason for this may be insufficient function of the corpus luteum. The dose of the drug that is administered is 10-25 mg. It should be taken daily or every other day. This hormone is sold in ampoules.

Progesterone is injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly. If it is injected under the skin, it may cause bumps. However, by adhering to the rules for administering the hormone, you can avoid such consequences. To do this, it is necessary to heat the ampoule with the medicine to body temperature and eliminate the content of crystals in the liquid. Then the drug will be absorbed into the blood correctly. It is also important to follow the instructions for use.

Possible side effects

Progesterone injections, in addition to the positive effect, can also cause negative reactions body, for example:

  1. Problems with cardiovascular system(high blood pressure).
  2. Liver dysfunction, signs of jaundice, and in rare cases, nausea and vomiting may occur.
  3. Disturbances of the endocrine system, but only after systematic use of the drug. For example, weight gain, decreased libido, pain in the mammary glands, and irregular uterine bleeding.
  4. If the period of use is too long, depression and headache may develop.

In addition, after progesterone injections, a woman may lose menstruation for a certain period. The cause of such a symptom can be identified after diagnosis using an ultrasound machine and additional tests blood. The attending physician must make the correct diagnosis based on the tests and examination results.

Therefore, taking this drug without medical supervision is prohibited. It is imperative to ensure compliance with the dose of administered progesterone. There are recommendations according to which injections of progesterone 2 5% are allowed to be given no more than 1 ml at a time.

Contraindications to the use of the drug

In addition to the indications for taking this drug, the patient may also have contraindications. The attending physician must take them into account. This fact once again confirms that progesterone injections should be given only after a comprehensive diagnosis of the patient’s body.

List of the most common diseases for which progesterone injections should not be taken:

  1. Genital cancer.
  2. Malignant formations in the mammary gland.
  3. Hepatitis.
  4. Liver disorders.
  5. The presence of thrombosis or a tendency to it.
  6. Insufficiency in the functioning of the cardiovascular system.
  7. Presence of diabetes mellitus.
  8. Bronchial asthma.
  9. Frequent migraines.
  10. Increased blood pressure levels.
  11. Epilepsy.
  12. Depression arising from mental disorders.
  13. Availability allergic disease respiratory tract.

Additionally, progesterone intake should be limited to women planning pregnancy in the near future. In addition, the drug is not recommended for patients whose work requires attention and concentration. The same applies to the lactation period and the last stage of pregnancy.

Why is progesterone so important and how does it affect the female body?

Any woman should understand that her health depends entirely on the lifestyle she leads and how she takes care of her body.

The most important task of the fair sex is procreation. Therefore, a woman must think about the health of her unborn baby. Healthy and strong children are born to parents who take care of themselves and follow the doctor’s recommendations.

Before planning a pregnancy, a couple should consult a specialist and undergo a full examination. Only after this can you put accurate diagnosis. If any abnormalities are detected, you need to undergo a course of treatment, and only then plan a pregnancy. Or, conversely, gain confidence that the parents’ health is at the proper level and they can conceive a healthy child, without the risk of unwanted termination of pregnancy.

If a woman, for example, has menstrual irregularities or, conversely, excessive discharge, then a visit to the doctor is required. The problem may be that there is a lack of progesterone in the female body. And then full course treatment cannot be avoided.

During this period, you will have to temporarily give up planning a pregnancy and take a closer look at your health. become a mother, there will be obvious problems with conception. And even if fertilization does occur, it will be extremely difficult to bear the fetus.

An important function of progesterone is to properly influence the endometrium of the uterus and prepare it for fertilization. Then progesterone already provides normal course pregnancy. If a woman has, this diagnosis is made on days 22-23 of the cycle.

Therefore, if it is necessary to take an analysis for this hormone, it is necessary to carry out manipulations during this period monthly cycle women.

Today every second woman suffers hormonal disorders, so you shouldn’t worry about this right away. If you consult a doctor in time and carry out correct treatment, it will be possible to avoid severe consequences and restore the normal functioning of the female body. Although it is possible that patients are forced to resort to taking progesterone injections throughout their lives due to a lack of it in the body. But this is rather an exception to the rule.

There is one more feature that awaits women taking progesterone injections - weight gain. Progesterone promotes fat deposition in the body. It seems to make sure that the mother’s body has enough resources for the fetus, and thereby contributes to the deposition of fat masses.

Because of this, many women who undergo progesterone treatment gain weight. But usually, after stopping the drug, the weight returns to its usual range.

Pregnant women may experience increased appetite after taking progesterone. This is especially true for sweet foods. In women who are not expecting a child, this symptom appears during PMS time. Increased appetite occurs during the second half of the menstrual cycle.

If you take progesterone immediately before birth, it will help relax the pelvic ligaments and thereby make it easier for the baby to pass through the pelvis. birth canal; the mother may experience discomfort in the pelvis and legs.

Medicinal properties

The therapeutic effect of the drug is achieved due to the properties of the main component – the corpus luteum hormone.

After penetration into the body, progesterone changes the functioning of the uterine mucosa, transferring it to the secretion phase. Thus, it provides the necessary layer of the endometrium, in which the attachment of the egg is possible. After it is implanted, the substance promotes its proper development.

At the same time, the hormone eliminates excitability and contraction of the uterine muscles, which is very important for maintaining pregnancy, and activates the preparation of the mammary glands.
